Christmas, Christmas is awesome. How could you not like Christmas. The only person that could hate Christmas is Ebenezer Scrooge, or someone like Scrooge. Someone greedy, rich, and lonely Scrooge is just a normal guy who went to border school when he was a kid. He didn’t spend to much time with his family. He only got to see them on Holidays. Now, he is a grumpy old man. Scrooge has long gray hair, wheres a hat most f the time, and has lots of wrinkles. He used to be really good friends with Marley before he passed. He showed Scrooge what his worker was doing that day. The spirit showed Scrooge his worker buying a turkey. He could only afford a small turkey. That showed Scrooge he should pay his workers better. He also showed his worker taking his son little Timmy home on his shoulders, since Timmy has a lame leg. This makes Scrooge feel bad for him. The spirit also tells Scrooge that Timmy does not have a long time to live.
On Christmas Eve , Scrooge is gone by a progression of ghosts,starting with his old business accomplice, Jacob Marley. The three spirits follow,the Ghosts of Past , Christmas present and Christmas future ,show how his ,mean conduct has influenced everyone around him. Toward the finish of the story ,he is soothed to find that there is still time for him to change and we see him changed into a liberal and kind hearted person.
Ebenezer Scrooge is the major character in the story, A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens. A Christmas Carol is about how a “cold-hearted, tight fisted, selfish” money grabbing man is offered an opportunity of a life time, to change his behaviour, attitude... to have a second chance in life.

According to the text, Scrooge is such a miser that when his partner, Jacob Marley passed away, he didn’t spend the money to change the business sign outside their production to reflect his partner’s death, instead he left the sign to swing alone mysteriously camouflaging Marley’s passing. In the reading, his nephew, Fred, comes to invite Scrooge to Christmas dinner with his family, Scrooge, in turn responds, “Bah! Humbug! The text describes Scrooge as a tight-fisted hand at the grindstone. Based on what I have read in the text, foreign heat and cold had little influence on Scrooge, he was a man whom felt no warmth or wintry climate, even the winds of the winter chill did not affect his inner self or his outermost surroundings. In the play, Mr. Scrooge is a greedy man who thinks Christmas is “Bah Humbug!” (Dickens 3). His family has always wanted him to join them for a Christmas feast, but Mr. Scrooge has never wanted anything to do with Christmas. He clearly states there is no positive trates Scrooge which also enhances Scrooge’s appearance. Charles Dickens continues with the theme of weather by finishing the paragraph with roughly, “The heaviest rain and snow often ‘came down’ handsomely and Scrooge never did”.
Little did Ebenezer Scrooge know, this was going to be the kickoff to a substantial journey on his night of Christmas Eve. The ghost of Christmas past had the appearance similar to a child, yet it had some characteristics comparable to a lit candle. This ghost took Scrooge to all of his most painful memories leading up to his present day position. After brief reminders of these incidents, Scrooge started to get melancholy. Events from his schooldays, his engagement, and even his happy apprenticeship with his former boss Fezziwig provided enough insight for the main character to visit his childhood. Scrooge then got an unexpected visit from the ghost of Christmas Present. He took the display of a gigantic man, dressed in a green robe. This ghost helped provide an insight for Scrooge on what his acquaintances were doing on Christmas Eve night. Bob Cratchit, had a dinner with his family and could barely afford any food due to his low wage from Scrooge. Lastly, Ebenezer received a visitation from the ghost of Christmas yet to come. The ghost was strictly straightforward with Scrooge’s future if he kept acting similar to what he did. Just like the play, Ebenezer Scrooge is the main character in the story. He is a mean, cold-hearted man that has no Christmas spirit whatsoever. All that Scrooge cares about and will ever care about is his wealth until he is taken on a journey. He is lead by 3 ghosts of his past, present, and future as he was in the play. These ghosts show him what Christmas spirit is and try to force it upon him. All of this finally hits him once he is taken to the future and witnesses his own grave. He is like Victor and chooses to be isolated for how he treated others. For example, Scrooge says, “I wish to be left alone. Since you ask me what I wish, gentlemen, that is my answer. I don’t make merry myself at Christmas, and I can’t afford to make idle people merry” (Dickens 16). Scrooge is showing the reader that he is an ungrateful and a non-friendly man. The author wants us to know that he has no Christmas sprit and is selfish man that is also very stingy with his money. He also is rude to the people that come to his store. Charles Dickens describes him in A Christmas Carol as “a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, clutching, covetous old sinner! Hard and sharp as flint, from which no steel has ever struck generous fire; secret, and self contained, and solitary as an oyster” (Dickens 12). This description of Scrooge shows that he is a very negative person, that chooses to isolate himself, and keeps things all to himself. He does not care about anyone other than money and himself. He loves money and also watching his clerk; “the door of Scrooge’s counting-house was open that he might keep his eye upon his clerk” (Dickens 13). Scrooge was always watching what his clerk was doing; he was not a friendly guy. Dickens portrays Scrooge as being a mean old man that wants nothing to do with anyone throughout the beginning of the novel. As a young boy many family members played a huge role in Scrooge’s life. It is easy to tell as a young boy, Scrooge loved his family although his father was extremely hard on him. His sister is the only member of his home-family that has a scene in the story. It seems as if that she was the only one who truly loved him. Whenever the ghost of Christmas past takes Scrooge back to the time his sister came and told him that she was taking him back home he was filled with joy. They have never abandoned hope and faith” (Gold 153). Scrooge’s relationship with his family is critical to the plot of the story. All of his hard times growing up led to Scrooge’s jealousy of Fezziwig’s wealth and charm. Scrooge’s determination to be like Mr. Fezziwig turned him into the exact opposite of his goal. “Dickens contrasts Scrooge, “excellent man of business,” with old Fezziwig, the master of his apprenticeship days. Fezziwig was a “reasonable” employer; he worked his men hard and fairly, be he was able to play occasionally, and he did not he did not hesitate to spend money at Christmastime for the entertainment and jollification of his employees” (Davis 122). As opposed to being unkind and cruel, the new and improved Scrooge donates a large sum of money to the cause happily. This kind, happy, and generous man is a complete change from the stingy and unkind Scrooge from Christmas Eve. If someone this awful can change, anyone and everyone can do the same. They just need a little push in the right direction.
