Science means life, how the world works, and is all around us and makes up everything that exists. With science you can think of questions you have never thought of before and possibly the solutions to those questions. Furthering my education into science is very important to me especially since I am planning to major in geoscience so I can learn more about the science of the earth. Pursuing science will help me learn to ask more questions, I will be able to contribute to society with what I will learn, and science just really excites me. Asking questions is part of science especially when you are learning a new subject. You ask questions to better your knowledge on the subject you are learning. When I'm learning a new subject I'm not that good at asking questions but if i dive all in and immerse myself in a field of science I will learn to ask more questions, and figure out the answers will the help of my peer, professor, and myself. …show more content…
Even though it might not seem very important, it is because with Geology you can observe when a volcano might erupt, and where oil might be for oil drillers. Also you get to learn about how the earth was formed, why the things that happened happened, and go out into the field and look at fossils, rocks, and amazing formations. Geology also helps with where you can build building because if there is a fault there, then there will most likely be earthquakes, or can help you not get stuck when you are in a boat on a river because the cut bank wont have that much mud, but the point bar would. To me Geology is really important and when I get a degree in Geoscience I will be able to contribute to

I would continually ponder over questions on the mechanics of nature and human beings. Science has always been a main focus of mine. I distinctly remember when my parents bought our first computer when I was six years old. On the computer I would always be watching videos or reading on science topics. I would always be conducting my own science experiments. The reaction from mixing baking soda with vinegar to form a volcano would always amaze me as a child. Growing up I would continually and consistently add to my knowledge of science through the tough courses I would take in school. I am able to look back into the memories of my younger self and understand why baking soda and vinegar, when mixed, form an eruption. I regard science as a passion. I can say with absolute certainty it is not my passion, however to many who make it their career choice, it is. I offer you this example. My passion is writing, if the government made it illegal to write about what I desired, I would do whatever necessary to allow myself to follow my passion. Moving across that big pond we call the Pacific Ocean would be a small price to pay to follow my passion and practice it freely.
Webster’s dictionary defines science as “the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment” (Webster’s 786). What that basically states is that science is a subject that can be studied through experiments or observations. All of the sciences taught in public high schools do indeed fit this definition; they are studied through experimental labs, teaching students to learn facts through their own observations. However, there is a subject that is also taught by observation and experimentation, but is not considered a scientific subject. This highly debatable subject is Intelligent Design.
Proposing questions about the world around us is something seen as a natural occurrence in both human beings and animals. We question the thoughts and actions of others and even ourselves. This is viewed as a normal observation in everyday life and is an innocent act. Annoying at times, but nevertheless, innocent. Socrates was a man who questioned many things.
The purpose of Max Weber’s “Science as a Vocation” essay was to understand the conditions of science as a vocation, and the effects of specialization on enchantment. Science is a method of understanding how things work. It is important because we need science in order for things to work and to develop new technology that is used in every day life. It is personally important to me because I really want to become a vet when I get older and I would need to do really well in science. Except if this generation is not educated to grow and progress with the planet and learn how to help it, there will be no “next generation”; the earth simply will not be able to sustain our life forms. This is why science education is important to the future of our lives and our planet.
