I believe in breakfast. It is always said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day because of its ability to get the body's metabolism going and start the day off right. But what about the first thing that runs through a person's mind? Of course, having a healthy body is important, but wouldn’t a healthy mind be even more desirable? This is why starting the day off with a happy thought is so crucial. I had a day where my mindset about Happiness is a result of the thoughts that go through your mind. I I hear the buzzing of an alarm clock as it pierces through the silence of the night. The cold air, which had previously been shielded away by my covers, hits my body like a tidal wave. Thousands of records, CDs, and band art line the walls of small store. There are two people that are occupying the area besides myself. The young lady stands behind the counter and a man in his mid twenties is near the back of the store. I glance in the direction of the man to find him also looking at me. He looked like the exact thing you would think of if you were to think of a hippie. His hair was long and slightly messy. The shirt he wore was a faded tie dye that looked like it had been worn numerous times. As I browsed, he eventually made his way over to me and asked how I was doing. I had been having an awful day so far so I decided that I would tell him the truth about it. I tell him about how so many things were piling up in my life and the stress that it is causing me. He tells me a simple idea that would have the most profound effect on me. He said, "Don't even worry about it man, everything that happens to you can't affect you in any way unless you let it." I thank him for the encouragement and head out of the store a few minutes

In conclusion, i don’t think that we are happy. I think that most people just say they are happy but are actually discontent. Happiness plays an important and necessary role in the lives of people around the world. In America, happiness has been engrained in our national consciousness since Thomas Jefferson penned these famous words in the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” (Jefferson). Since then, Americans have been engaged in that act: pursuing happiness. The problem however, as Ray Bradbury demonstrates in his novel Fahrenheit 451, is that those things which make us happy initially may eventually lead to our downfall. By examining Guy Montag, the protagonist in Fahrenheit 451, and the world he lives in we can gain valuable insights to direct us in our own pursuit of happiness. From Montag and other characters we will learn how physical, emotional, and spiritual happiness can drastically affect our lives. We must ask ourselves what our lives, words, and actions are worth. We should hope that our words are not meaningless, “as wind in dried grass” (Eliot).
In the book, The How of Happiness, author and researcher Sonja Lyubomirsky sets her book apart from other self-awareness books by being the first to utilize empirical studies. She uses data gained through scientific method to provide support for her hypothesis. This hypothesis consists mainly of the idea that we have the ability to overcome genetic predisposition and circumstantial barriers to happiness by how we think and what we do. She emphasizes that being happier benefits ourselves, our family and our community. “The How of Happiness is science, and the happiness-increasing strategies that [she] and other social psychologists have developed are its key supporting players” (3).

Multi- tasking is possible when eating cereal, fruit and nuts at the same time as checking voicemail or emails. Good nutrition needs to continue throughout the day. Fruits and vegetables, healthy snacks, drinking water or tea to stay hydrated, and eating dairy products all add to well-balanced meals. For example, eating healthy dinners with fish two times a week can vastly improve a person’s well-being because fish has omega 3 fatty acids.
