Because “more than [two hundred] million children under [five] years fail to reach their potential in cognitive development due to poor health and nutrition, and deficient care"(Grantham-McGregor), it is very important that children learn good hygiene and correct eating habits for a healthy lifestyle. Good hygiene practices include but are not limited to bathing, hand washing, and oral care. In addition to hygiene, it is also important for children be educated on how to dress themselves appropriately and learn what their dietary needs are along with exercise. Without having dressed appropriately, children get sick quicker, loose self-confidence, and are at risk of developing bacterial infections. To start out the day a child should brush their hair, have correct fitting clothing items, and proper fitted shoes. Most individuals would agree that children are generally unable to care for themselves; instead they are dependent upon their caregivers, whom are responsible to help them learn right from wrong. This would entail teaching proper health habits, including a healthy diet. One of the things that caregivers can do is heighten their awareness of the weight problems currently plaguing America preferably before their children are diagnosed as overweight or obese. It is also important to use preventative measures that would reduce the chances of children becoming overweight and/or implement steps that would put the child in a healthier weight range. Finally, caregivers should remain patient and understanding with children in order to avoid causing other health risks.
Next you will want to teach your toddler about proper hygiene. After your toddler as finished pottying you should teach then to wipe from front to back. This helps prevent any bacteria from entering the private areas, which could lead to health issues such as bacterial infections.
