The Monster in the sky Listening to the singing rooster while the sunrise caress my face, the calming tropical breeze that swift through the kitchen that reaches my bedroom. As I drag myself from bed and walk toward the living room to start my day. I turn on CBS News and walk toward the bathroom. While brushing my teeth the news announced of another Hurricane approaching Puerto Rico, again. I stared at the bathroom mirror, with a Surprisingly expression on my face." Well, it probably wont be as bad as Hurricane Irma". I thought to myself.
I became more attentive to the news on my way to work. not worrying about the outcome of this hurricane. The only experience I had of a hurricane was hurricane Irma in August 30,2017.beside hurricane Irma only sideswiped Puerto Rico before churning north from the Atlantic ocean and head out toward Florida with a 185 mph wind. we was lucky during that time, after the hurricane, the water and light came back on in just a couple of days, that if you lived in the city or

Gas station was over flowing with people filling out there tank with gas, people waiting impatiently in line to get attendant. My emotion grew fearful while I stared at the in the gas station and at the ATM withdrawing their money. I made home late that evening it was almost dark. While I approach my front gate my two beautiful Rottweiler and pit bull greet me at the gate wagging their tail with excitement to see me. My husband and son was talking about the evacuation and they asked me " what should we do?" Edward ask me with concern in his voice. I reply " well we have two option or evacuate or go to one of the rescue shelter" I reply with a confuse look. I was puzzle, without not knowing what to do in this situation. My son Giovanni stated "We should evacuate to the U.S because this hurricane is going to have a strong impact in Puerto Rico,it coming in stronger than ever" my son
Bang, I think hear a hurricane! According to “weatherwizkids.com”,, “a hurricane is an enormous storm! It can be up to 600 miles across and have strong winds spiraling inward and upward at speeds of 75 to 200 mph. Each hurricane usually lasts for over a week, moving 10-20 miles per hour over the open ocean Hurricanes gather heat and energy through contact with warm ocean waters” (Weather Wiz). Scientists can usually predict a hurricane 's path 3-5 days in advance. However President Bush did warn the citizens of New Orleans about the disaster that was heading in their direction. Did you know, “Hurricane Katrina was the fifth hurricane of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, also a costliest natural disaster, and the dead...
Hurricane preparation is the most important thing in staying safe during a hurricane. Through technology we are able to track these hurricanes and have time to get ready for them. Recovery takes a lot of time and work, but safety and injury prevention should be your number one concern.
“When I saw my house three weeks after the storm, I was glad it stood but I knew it was time for change. Now five years later, I have learned that for me to enjoy the beauty of this place, there is a cost to bear. I love this place and am here to stay, but I have to invest more than I had imagined. The hurricane has greatly affected our lives but not only in a bad way.”
On October 22nd, Hurricane Sandy had developed from a small tropical wave in the western part of the Caribbean Sea and grew increasingly stronger, forming into a Tropical Storm just six short hours later. [2] Its winds gradually became more damaging when Sandy slowly moved northward. On October 24th, Sandy had officially changed from a Tropical Storm to an actual hurricane. Its first victim was an area of land near Kingston, Jamaica. Just a few hours later, the storm made its way back into the Caribbean Sea, and was classified as a Category 2 hurricane. On October 25th, Hurricane Sandy hit the country of Cuba, classifying as now a Category 3 hurricane. It soon weakened in power and became a Category 1 hurricane. On October 26th, Hurricane Sandy had begun its pa...
On October 22, 2012, a tropical depression began to form in the Caribbean Sea due to steadily increasing wind speeds and low pressure. Hurricane Sandy quickly developed making landfall as a category 1 hurricane. From its formation in the Caribbean Sea on October 22, 2012 to its dissipation on October 31, 2012 hurricane Sandy lasted a total of 9 days ravaging the east coast of the United States and parts of the Caribbean. Hurricane Sandy was an extremely large and complex cyclone; analyzing its highly affected areas, unique characteristics, and damage reports help us to understand the lasting impact natural disasters leave in their wake.
On August 14th a tropical wave moved westward towards the Cariban and the south eastern portion of the United States from Africa influenced by a high pressure storm to its north. On August 15th the storm became more concentrated and developed a center of circulation and spiral bands. By August 18th the winds increased in speed to 50 mph. Wind speed continued to rise to 80mph on August 18th. On August 22nd the storm reached hurricane status and was called Hurricane Andrew which would later be classified as a category 5 hurricane.
Even though I wasn’t expecting a very severe hurricane, my parents still prepared for the worst. They requested me to come home and stay even though many of my friends were still on campus. I figured being with my family during this difficult time would make the most sense. When the hurricane hit initially we did not lose any electricity even though many families around us did. My sister and I decided to end our boredom by watching random television shows, and just as we found something that interested us, the power went out. We were hoping it was just a quick power shortage, and that the power would be back within the hour. We were in for a big surprise. We did not have warm water or power for five days.
Hurricanes are tropical, violent storms in which many things are destroyed. But, if you know the proper ways to be safe, the hurricane will affect you very minimally.
Just days after Hurricane Harvey struck Texas and parts of Louisiana, leaving behind unprecedented destruction, an even stronger tropical cyclone was reported heading towards Florida. Irma, the most powerful Atlantic Ocean hurricane in recorded history, first brought chaos to the Caribbean, devastating islands like Barbuda and St. Martin on September 6, where it struck with Category 5 winds that at times reached up to 185 mph.
Maria hit many islands in the Caribbean. Consequently, there was terrible flooding and winds reached a maximum speed of 155 mph. The rain and wind continued for thirty hours. Some parts of Puerto Rico received thirty inches of rain and the winds extended nearly seventy miles from the center of the hurricane. People who decided to stay before the hurricane hit were told to write their social security numbers on their body in case something were to happen and they
“ Well ...I actually don’t know who it was, but well… here let me start from the beginning.” The man looked down at me as we stood there in blazing heat. His chiseled features of his face and arms shined brightly in the sun. “It was just right after Katrina hit around 2ish,” he recounted. “Even though it was the middle of the day no sun shined through the clouds in days. It was almost completely dark out except for tiny ray of light that had managed to seep through. The street and houses around here were completely flooded the water was up to about here” the man walked off the porch and pointed to a red line just above his head. “ When Katrina had hit I was safely inside my home but by this time I had been forced out by the water like many
In the tragedy Macbeth [1606] guilt is explored through the characters Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. This essay will explore how guilt is portrayed in Macbeth through the characterisation of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. In Macbeth, guilt is portrayed as a corrosive force that infiltrates the human mind and leads to irreversible consequences. Shakespeare explores guilt in the play through the characterisation of Macbeth. This is evident in Act 2 scene 1 in the soliloquy of Macbeth, “Is this a dagger which I see before me” where Macbeth hallucinates before killing Duncan.
Hurricanes are one of the deadliest and most expensive natural disasters around. They are more common in areas of humid yet moist weather so they are very foreign to certain places. But to the places were hurricanes are the norm, the people take them extremely seriously because they kill people and ruin countless amounts of property. Hurricanes can attack and harm people in so many ways they can kill people, leave them homeless, it leaves children orphaned and disable them. On the west coast of the United States and other places hurricanes aren’t taken as seriously as other more common disasters, such as, earthquakes and volcanoes yet the hurricane can be a lot more damaging that both of those. Hurricanes are cyclones that develop over warm oceans and breed winds that blow yup to 74 miles per hour.
This is important because there are many negative affects whether you are leaving or staying. There was flooding of streets and many power outages that more than 476,000 people lost power. Strong winds tore down many of the houses in Florida. The citizens who were living near the ocean waters were strictly told to leave their homes by Governor Rick Scott in case of an emergency. In the text it states that forecasters say that the biggest danger is not the winds.
A tornado is defined as a violently rotating column extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. The most violent tornadoes are capable of tremendous destruction with wind speeds of two hundred and fifty miles per hour or more. Damage paths can be more than one mile wide and fifty miles long. In an average year, eight hundred tornadoes are reported nationwide, resulting in eighty deaths and over one thousand five hundred injuries. In the body of my essay, I will tell you about types of tornadoes, where tornadoes come from, where and when tornadoes occur, the damage they inflict, variations of tornadoes, and how to detect tornadoes.
