Can you imagine living in a society where once a year they take twenty-four kids from ages twelve to eighteen, and make them fight till the death. Well that is the exact society that they live in in the Hunger Games by, Suzanne Collins. However when you live in a society like this you have to stick together with your friends and your family. Which is the theme of this book. Katniss Everdeen who is the main character in this book sticks with her friends and family a lot in this book. From the way that she provides for her family and volunteers for her sister, the way that she protects Rue, and by how she is with Peeta at the end. Katniss sneaks outside of the fence everyday to go hunt for food and to get some money so that her family can survive. So she goes searching for Peeta. She finds him with a lot of work. He is down by a creek camouflaged perfectly with a huge cut in his leg. Katniss could have walked away here, but she helps him and gets him the medicine by risking her life to get it. If she would have not been friends with Rue she would have been dead but however Thresh the boy from District 11 saves Katniss’s life. She saves Peeta and heals herself up some, but then in the end fight after Cato dies, the games masters change their mind on how the rules are sayin that only one person can live. So Katniss sticks with her friends and decides that they will both commit suicide instead of killing each other. So Katniss sticks with her friends and is able to get out of the Hunger Games alive with Peeta.
Katniss is able to stick with her family and friends and do what is right even when they live in a crazy society by saving her sister’s life, to helping Rue and Rue helping her, and by how she shoves it in the gamemasters faces at the end with
