Banquet Speech Good evening everyone. I’d like to first start off by thanking all of our wonderful booster club and parents for making this banquet possible. I’d also like to thank all the family members and friends in attendance tonight for joining us on this special occasion, I hope you all get a taste of this program and how much of an impact it has had on each of us tonight. Now I know y’all all have been sitting here forever & by the time I walked up here you’re probably thinking “Another senior???” Yes, I won’t say I’ll keep this super short, but I hope with the time I have I can share a few life lessons. I know, I know that’s such a random speech to think of, but it’s one with a very true lesson, especially for high school. During this speech she mentions that there are always going to be people who will try to undercut your success or that they’ll try to take credit & tear down your successes. Listening to this speech at 16 years old, I thought little of it. 2 years later, and I understand what she meant. We all have people who will tear us down, and form opinions about us without even knowing the real us. People who will always try to one up us. People who will try their hardest to undermine your successes. We all have our Kim’s and Kanye’s. But our trials should never stop us from our tribulations. YOUR achievements & YOUR happiness should never be diminished by anyone. In life there is always going to be people with words to belittle you, no matter where you go, but my best advice is to never let these words stop you, instead use them to motivate you further. Especially the words said in high school, trust me it’s hard to let it go, but this is just high school & soon it won’t matter in the grand scheme of things. Do cherish these moments because you won’t have them forever, but don’t let what happens hold you back & don’t let a moment in high school be your crowning moment. There is so much more ahead for all of us in life, and nothing that comes from high school will ever be your defining
