Good Morning everyone! Welcome friends, family, teachers, God our Father, and most importantly the St. Timothy graduates of 2017. I would like to start by saying thank you for the opportunity to stand here and address you all this morning. We sit here today on the precipice of the future. It is not a distant reality anymore. It begins here, and it begins today. We have a unique class sitting before us. Look at us! Strong, determined, witty, and almost always running on coffee. We rose this morning with a significant sense of freedom. I believe that the Class of 2017 can be compared to an orchard, containing many trees grown from branches with different roots. Some of us began our school life here, in Cochrane. Others began in different provinces, and different countries across the sea, like myself, who did not move to Canada until 2014. As the winds of time blew by, our roots came together to grow in unity through God to successfully bring us here today. The wind carried my sails here to Canada almost 3 years ago. To be honest, I did not know what to expect. Like the cycle of a growing tree, I was a sapling, …show more content…
Whether they could make it today or not, they deserve to be congratulated on their benevolent, candid, and sometimes audacious methods of picking us up when we’re down. Friendship is essential for success. Friends share our laughter, heal our sorrow, and support our goals. A quote from Sir David Baird, “Friendship is a tree to take shelter from the storm; to find shade from the blazing sun; to climb its branches to get a better view, and to swing from when we’re happy.” If you have not thanked your family, friends, and teachers prior to this moment, you certainly should after. None of us could have gotten here without them. They taught us how to be better people. They made sure we got to this day, and many of them are here now to see us transition into the next part of our
Commencement is a critical juncture in our lives; it is a momentous occasion where we believe we are about to start anew. However, graduation is the bittersweet moment where the forces of past and future are simultaneously acting on us. Consequently, the past is not dead. Alfred, Lord Tennyson, suggests that our past experiences will be with us forever as he states, " [we] are a part of all that [we] have met; yet all experience is an arch where through gleams that untraveled world." That is why graduation, similar to other turning points in our lives, possesses two halves, which accentuate each other. We are looking forward, but the "arch" of experience beckons us to remember, value, and learn from our past experiences. Thus, I feel that in order to appreciate commencement fully, we must remember our own past, and in particular, the last four years:
Good evening. Some of you out there may not realize this but those of you who attended Suntime Middle School have been with this guy for the last seven years. I would like to ask you all, not just Suntime Middle School grads and who all else, to join me in thanking Mr. Weather for his patience and dedication to the success of our education over the years. We are the Class of 2000. The first graduating class of the new millennium. The past four years have been pretty wild. We started out as a bunch of rats in a small cage, but as time went by we learned and matured and became big rats in a new small cage, but in any case, the cage door is now opening; the handlers turning us wild things loose. As we leave "Where the Wild Things Are," home to some of the best cat fights, fist fights and food fights this side of the Cascades, I have a little surprise for all of you sitting in front of me here tonight in your caps and gowns … we ain’t seen nothing yet!
Good morning to all of you. I am glad to be here with you, sharing this important and celebratory time. We have all accomplished a great deal and it's sometimes hard to believe it is coming to an end. There are so many stories that all of us have to tell about our time at County High. I would like to share some of my experience from the last few years.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's an honour to be standing here. I suppose I should actually say it's an honour and a pleasure, but I know the pleasure won’t kick in until this speech part is over.
Good morning parents, teachers, and fellow students. This is such a great honor for me to be up here representing the graduating class of 2018 today. Thank you so much! Can you believe we'll be going into high school next year??? Crazy, isn’t it -- Mommy, don’t cry.
Class of 2012, as we sit here this evening, I would like you to take a look at the classmates sitting around you. Many students have given countless hours of time, energy, and passion to worthy cuases that they have been a part of throughout high school. However, those aren't the only students deserving of recognition this evening. We have students here tonight, who have taken a stand for what they believe in, not even hesitating to compromise their reputations.
Today, as we graduate, with degree nearly in hand, I challenge each of you to make a difference in whatever you do. Remember that life didn't end when we re-entered school. Life continued throughout our program. Even when stretched to the limit, life only got more challenging. And now, graduating, life only changes pace. Our degree completion is not really an ending as much as a new beginning as we re-enter our lives of work and home. We thank all of our family, friends, instructors and co-workers who helped see us through this process. Thank you for this opportunity and good luck to you all.
Now I would like to take the time to thank everyone who has helped me get this far. First of all, thank you to all the teachers. None of us would be here without you always pushing our academic abilities to the fullest. Jessica Parker a.k.a. my partner in crime as Mr. Tri would refer to us. You made everyday coming to school worthwhile. Hillary Laswell, who would leave third period to go steal flowers from horticulture and give them to Mrs. Granillo with me. My brother Jeramie who always said, "If anyone is mean to you, I'll take care of it." My Mom, thank you for always believing in me and putting up with me when I was a real jerk.
Therefore, I would like to personally thank my family and I hope you'll join me in a round of applause in thanking all of your families as well. I believe I speak for every senior gathered here when I say that this day seemed like it would never arrive. Graduation has always seemed like a far off event, never to be attained. Yet, against all odds, we've managed to make it. From the countless hours spent trying to comprehend calculus to all the time spent solving physics practice problems... everything has led up to this singular moment.
Hello fellow students and staff members; I’m here today to speak about the journey it took for us graduates, the class of 2016, to make it to this incredible day; but as far as discussing our succession, I would first like to thank the staff and Principal Fitterling for giving me this wonderful opportunity to speak. I’m very grateful to be selected. I would like to also thank all of the family members who are here today for coming to take the time out of their day, to see their children's lives change in a matter of minutes. The Speech St. Charles West is known for showing the most school spirit, especially the class of 2016.
Greetings Uncle, My most honourable Uncle, I am writing to inform you of a multitude of misconducts by the Duke of Ferrara, and to persuade you to abolish the marriage plans between him and your daughter immediately. The Duke is an abominable man who is unfit to marry your amiable, well-mannered daughter, Carol. With disheartening, horrific evidence at hand, I sincerely hope to change your mind about the entirety of this marriage. I attended his most recent speech at his palace and learned much about him that I feel would be of concern to you. The Duke of Ferrara is a distasteful, abhorrent man who wishes to control everything around him.
Hope everyone is getting ready to ring in 2016! As we wrap of 2015 and get ready to ring in a shiny new year, we want to take the time to thank each and everyone of you. It has been a year of growth and learning and we could not have done it without your love and support. Thank you to our families, friends, vendors, friendors, and clients. Thank you to all of those whom have helped us and supported us in little and big ways.
Let me begin by saying that I am very honored to be addressing the County High School Class of 2012 as students of this institution for the last time. We've spent these last four years creating some serious memories: four years of chieftain power, leaking roofs, questionable Homecoming skits, and musical principals. Four years of good teachers, bad teachers, new teachers, old teachers. Four years of youth, music, growing up and breaking free. Four rubber chickens, four yearbooks, four ASB presidents and four chubby bunnies.
Hi, my name is Pat and I would like to start today by thanking the seniors of 2012 for choosing me to speak today. It is truly my honor.
Valedictorian Speech Good evening fellow graduates, teachers, family members, friends, and distinguished guests. It is a tremendous honor to be the valedictorian of our graduating class. My job is to somehow be the voice of the entire graduating class, and take five minutes to say a few words on behalf of all 539 of us. Like most valedictorians, writing this speech was not an easy task for me. Not because I did not have anything to say, but because I was overwhelmed by how much I wanted to share with you all on this day. Tonight, we have one common purpose, to celebrate. We are here to congratulate, to look towards what the future holds for us, to wish each other well, and to, most importantly look back on our time spent here. So, I would like to start by saying 'well done' to my fellow graduates, who have all worked hard during the past several years to reach this milestone. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the graduating class for selecting me to speak here tonight. Ever since the news broke, many people, some who've I've never really met before, have come up to me and have wished me well. Perhaps this speech would be incomplete if I don’t say something to the teachers. On the behalf of my entire class, I would like to thank all my teachers: thank you. Thank you for teaching us, for leading us, for building us up as adults. I know that we have not given back to you the respect you deserve. I know that we have not told you how much we appreciate you taking time out of your schedules to help us. And I know that we have not said thank you for giving us a wonderful education. So, I hope that as I say thanks, you can forget our shortcomings and remember us for who we are and not from the mistakes we have made. ...
