“Thank you for the presents you guys.” I say sincerely looking back at the wonderful gifts I got from my family. “Happy Birthday, sweetie.” My mom and dad kiss my fore-head. If you haven’t guessed by now I just had my 16th birthday party. Well, you might have guessed it was my birthday, just not my 16th one. I know big day, sweet 16, new doors open. I got that talk from my parents and grandparents. In all honesty I think I love them too much to ever want to grow up and move away and, well- you know. Adult. “Watch out Winnie, your growing up. Soon you’ll be getting a job and making a family of your own!” My slightly tipsy Aunt laughs at me, raising her glass of wine. I smile at her and laugh, “I don’t want to grow up just yet. There are too …show more content…
I go into the living room and talking to my parents and grandparents is an old man I’ve never meet before. “Ah and there she is now.” My grandpa smiles. The stranger looks at me and I smile and wave. “Why, my dear girl, you have grown much since I saw you last… You may not remember me, Winnie. But I know I couldn’t forget beautiful eyes like those.” He says in a British accent. “Well, if I was as young as you make me out to be at our last meeting, then I don’t think I remember you. Because I know if I had meet you a few years ago, I wouldn’t have been able to forget such charm.” I reply smartly back with a smile. “Ah, smart one I see.” He chuckles, “I am Gandalf. I have been a family friend for years.” I go to shake his hand but he pulls me in for a quick hug. I let him and hug back with a giggle. “Winnie, Gandalf has come here for a special reason.” My mom says. I nod my head, slightly confused, but sit down along with the rest of …show more content…
They were given the ability to control and form the elements: Water, Earth, Fire, Air, Lighting, and some if they were strong and experienced enough, could control the light and the darkness. Bend shadows and bend the light rays coming from the sun. This race practiced these powers for hundreds of years, mastering them and teaching them to their descendants… Thousands of peaceful years passed until a King from across the sea heard of this peaceful race, jealous of their power. He gathered a hole armada and went across the sea hunting down the hidden race. Sadly, my dear girl, the evil king did find them and demanded they give him and his people their magic. The people of the hidden race knew that the King was to selfish and angry to harness this power. So they said no… The King took it by force. By torturing and killing, causing a war between the two races. The battle went on for two weeks before the King killed off the hidden race. Few had been able to escape… But those who did, ran far and went to the few Istari that were left and begged them to send them and their families to better place, to help them hide from the evil. That’s when only 150 people of the hidden race were transported to this realm… And that is where you, dear Winnie, come in. A
She told wonderful stories about how close she and her sisters were. “Grandmother!” I'd exclaim whenever I'd see her, “Will you tell us stories about your youth? Oh, please, will you?” I asked, hopeful eyes glazing over like a small child who received a new toy.
Thank you for sharing your stories with me. I really enjoyed watching as you grow and change, becoming braver and more defiant and finding your voice. You were living in Erik’s shadow, as he blocked the light and the truth from you, for over ten years. Then you uncovered the truth and stood up to him, and now you are starting your bright, hope-filled, promising future, accompanied by the scent of a golden dawn.
now: A) I am grateful you for instilling the need that I now have of appreciating love, the importance of loving someone and the experience that it brings when you're also loved. The best of all, the vulnerability of what love has to offer because I know what rejection feels like since I never heard or felt "love" from you. B) I thank you for the hunger you instilled in me in always being and getting the best, to never settle for anything but that so that I could not experience what you put my mother through in my own marriage. C) If you had been the father that I wanted and needed at the time, then I would never have discovered how to be such a strong willed person.
The Speech Thank you, Emily, I would also like to thank, The Governors, Teachers, Pupils, Parents, Mum, Dad, Rabonim, Specifically Rabbi Pereira… Being the first class of your teaching career, I’m surprised we did not put you off for life. If you survived our class, the rest, is plain sailing, and of course our guest of honor tonight, Naomi Ellenbogen. As a token of our appreciation for being here tonight we would like to present you with this gift. I have been on a remarkable journey throughout my time at King David, of which the experiences have been fueled by the motivation and total dedication of both the teachers and the governors. The amount of effort that they put in of course, has to be reciprocated with our own hard work and contributions
“When I introduced Love to my parents, she didn’t talk that much. Shy smiles. Head bent, small talk that was a stranger to me. I pulled her aside. Nervous fingers trembled, telling me that this was new to Love.
"Thirty years ago to today Lucy, was the day I lost your grandmother. Oh Irene. Right here in this exact spot, was where it happened. I remember it like it was yesterday,” Grandpa says. He stood about three heads taller than me.
Rick, Welcome to the club! This little gift is my way of letting you know that anytime, anywhere - I am here for you. In 1976 at the age of 16 1/2 I was hospitalized for drug and alcohol abuse treatment in a locked hospital unit.
Good evening, sweetheart! (Even though you had already said it…) Happy 2 month! I just wanted to let you know that these past 2 months have been amazing; you have given me a happiness that I’ve never felt before and that you have been the best girlfriend ever. I really do appreciate your patience with me and how you have never given up on me.
Hi Claire. I don’t know exactly what I said to you over the week, but what I do remember is that you told me that I made you uncomfortable. I am able to put A and B together and I think I have a pretty good idea of what I said. That is something you don’t deserve from a friend, or from anybody in general unless it is something you ask for and want from another person. I have to think by now that you must think that my apologies are not heartfelt and sincere, and that is a choice you have to make for yourself, but I want you to know that they are sincere in my heart.
I must admit that I really did not even know what a commencement address was before writing this speech. I mean of course I watched those of which were delivered by brilliant, world-renowned people such as J.K Rowling, Steve Jobs and yes, Ellen Degeneres speaking at the most prestigious of universities. I thought to myself who on Earth would care to listen to me, I am not brilliant nor am I world-renowned, though I often like pretend otherwise. Then I remembered that you are not graduating from a prestigious university so I guess we are equally the lesser in this situation.
You're there for me all the time. No matter what time it is, and you just don't know how thankful I am for you. I remember meeting you in 5th grade Then I gave you a tbh the begging of 8th grade and then we started talking more. Then later you became my best friend, even though I wasn't yours at the time, you were most definitely mine
It gives me great joy to be here today, thank you all for coming to my 90th Birthday Celebration. It means so much to me. Who would think that I would have made my 90th. Some days I don’t feel 90 at all and then other days my body quickly reminds me “Gemma, your not as young as you used to be”.
To my dearest, Hello Melissa, it has now been 10 months, 2 months to go and we can start counting by 1 again. I want to tell you something important, I want to throw out all my feelings so you can read them. Remember the day you asked me, when you wrote a note in Religious studies and seemed out of this world. How you ripped of tiny pieces of the paper while waiting on your bus because you were nervous. I remember you still acting smooth although you looked so nervous.
"Thank you, Papa," I say to him. He collapses onto the floor, back against the couch. I walk away from him to clean up my mess. But soon enough, I am there to join him, and he embraces me, only a blanket covering our naked bodies while we kissed each other.
“Thanks, you guys are the best.” We all say as we have a group hug.
