Waves of idle chatter emanated from the grand dining hall as the lords and ladies of Knavewich anxiously awaited the grand arrival of their ruler, King Abimelech. His Majesty was to be the officiator of the annual graduation banquet, a feast held in honour of the young squires who had proven themselves worthy of joining the Knavewich Coalition of Knights – the village’s elite defensive league. However, to the uneasy curiosity of the attendants, the king was mysteriously absent from his throne at the far end of the ebony table. The chamber was decorated exquisitely for the occasion. Colourful banners, scented candles, ruby-encrusted chalices, and a silk, burgundy tablecloth were among the lavish novelties that adorned the scene. The exorbitant …show more content…
It appears a filthy rat hath lost his way to the sewers and found himself amongst the gentry, of all places! Such a loathsome blemish hath no place in the Knavewich palace! WALLIS Thee art a recreant fool, Sir Bardsley. If you’ve no business at tonight’s gathering, then I demand thee to leave at once! BARDSLEY Not so fast, my lesser contemporary! I have come to declare my rightful belonging in the company of His Majesty. Byron Wallis, I hereby challenge thee to a lyrical clash of swords! The verbal crossfire had invited the curious attention of the entire dining room. At that point, turning down Bardsley’s duel would have been a disastrous move for my reputation in Knavewich; hoodlums would hit, drunkards would spit, and the courts would acquit! Maintaining my composure, I readily acknowledged my opponent’s challenge. WALLIS I refuse to cower at the jests of a bumbling clotpole. Prepare thyself for a beating! BARDSLEY Have at thee! The two of us positioned our instruments and prepared to square off. The energy of the room had risen considerably as the noblemen concluded their musings and gave their undivided attention to the ensuing showdown. In his characteristic self-confidence, Bardsley began the bloodletting, furiously strumming and cavorting
...s one would assume, the elder squires would be in charge of the juniors but the tyranny in which they would rule is surprising. The hardships both Myles and Gascoyne were forced to go through makes their revenge and eventual victory more than justified. Lastly, one may not have known what a trial by combat was and that the actual practice even existed. At this time in England, one could challenge the wrong deeds of another by fighting. Yet, it was referred to as a trial. A unique idea for the time and the common reader today, much like I.

The shocking death of the Prince’s kin, Mercutio, and the revenge killing of Tybalt of the House Capulet, have shaken our city this week. The reason for these senseless deaths was one of ‘honour’. The modern notion of honour is proving to be detrimental to the safety and way of life in our city. Young men who could help build and contribute to our city are being killed in the name of this sickness, boys are learning that violence is good, and traders and travellers are passing by our city in fear, bringing economic decay. If this disease is not cured, then it will mean certain doom for our city.
In Katharine Karr’s novel, “Fortune’s Fool,” the main character, Conrad and his lady, Christa, work for a lord named Otto. Otto is a very cruel, nasty lord, so Conrad and Christa decide to run away to find a new, better lord. During their journey, they pretend to be jesters for rulers in return for food and shelter. The first place they stay is in a monastery. During their stay, different aspects of monastic life and buildings in the monastery are described. Jester performances and jester life are also depicted during their stay in the monastery and during other stays throughout their journey. Katherine Karr’s, “Fortune’s Fool” accurately shows the daily life inside a monastery as well as portrays some aspects of a medieval jester.

(3.7.84-85). His decision to challenge Cornwall to a fight shows how deep his loyalty is, that he is willing to die for his former King. His tone returns to a persuasive, almost taunting tone as he says, “...come on, and take the chance of anger.” (3.7.87-88). Here, he is Cornwall on to fight him.
A new staging of Twelfth Night, co-produced by the Prague Shakespeare Company and Houston’s Main Street Theatre, seems to sidestep the challenges presented by Shakespeare’s elegant balance of comedy and melancholy by dwelling on the comic subplot that features Sir Toby Belch. Sir Toby, Shakespeare’s inebriated, impecunious knight, has more lines than any other character in this play, so his role has the potential to co-opt the play’s dark exploration of the cruel plot perpetrated against Malvolio. In director Rebecca Greene Udden’s version of Shakespeare’s final Elizabethan comedy, Sir Toby Belch’s drinking, frolicking, and belching is so extreme that it even involves the audience on several occasions. Her emphasis is in line with the play’s association with English pre-Lenten celebration that involved eating, songs, dance, masques, and
A huge part of the post-grad life is attending all of the benchmark events of your friends and acquaintances. But if I can be rather blunt with you, I don't want to go to your Jack and Jill bridal shower. I don't want to go to your engagement party. I will go to your bachelor party because that goes without saying. But if you have a kid, can I just send a card?

Dad- Your hard work and dedication have taught me that giving up is never an option. You’ve shown me that it’s better to speak your mind than say nothing at all. I will always cherish the times we spent in your garage; you working on the snowmobiles and me, picking up pieces of metal with the expandable magnet. Thank you for putting up with my mood swings and being patient.
