Humor in The Simpsons I and many other millions of people across the world believe that The Simpson’s is the best programme on television because it is funny in more ways then one. The Simpson’s uses the family lifestyle that many American TV shows have used over past (e.g. The Adam’s family, The Flintstones) but The Simpson’s has proved it is a lot more popular because it uses many more different forms of comedy which work with people from all ages. Slapstick comedy is where someone gets hurt and you laugh but if you saw it happen in real life you’d find it sick for example when homer the father strangles his son Bart in many episodes it would be seen as child abuse in real life but you feel its o.k. when The Simpson’s do it. Another example of slapstick comedy is a programme that the children in The Simpson’s watch called The Itchy and Scratchy show which is a rather more gruesome parody of the classic Tom And Jerry programme but Itchy and scratchy kill each over every episode. Another theme of comedy is the hilarious idea of satire comedy, which patronises the so called American life style for example homer is arguably the dumbest person in The Simpson’s but he has a very important job as he works as the safety officer at a nuclear power plant. Satire comedy in The Simpson’s is just making fun of stereotypical America. For example the head police officer Chief Wiggum is lazy, dumb but funny because he does nothing to solve crimes and eats doughnuts and does the things that police officers are stereotypically known to do. In many episodes of the Simpson’s they use Intertextuality for the plots. In... ... middle of paper ... ...f figure. The Simpson’s even managed to get Tony Blair the prime minister of England to do a short part. And he didn’t seem to mind that Homer called him “that M.R Bean guy” and many other celebrities have done voices not playing themselves like Lisa Kudrow from friends who played a young girl in Lisa’s year called Whitney Alexis another example the crane brothers from Fraser Kelsey grammar and David Hyde Pierce play the sideshow brother’s who have appeared in many episodes. For many celebrities appearing in the Simpson’s for 5 minutes or a whole episode is great achievement and is a sign to show they have it as a international star and will probably be more well known. Because of these reasons I believe the Simpson’s is the best programme on in the world and I am sure will continue to be be for a very long time.
He says that it was because he “figured there was cameras there or somebody had spotted him doing what he was doing.”
What is the most common perception held in this country concerning the people and the way they live in the South? The perception most of the country has about life down here in the South is one of slow-paced living, simple-minded people, and stubborn, unwarranted pride. One of the best ways to combat this perception is through the use of humor; Lewis Grizzard was one of the best at this, because he could take the experiences from his own life as well as the lives of others in the South and turn them into humorous semi-fictional stories. He was one of the preeminent fictional authors this country has ever seen because of his ability to connect with people and joke about everyday life in the south, without offending the subjects of those jokes, despite the popular opinion the rest of the country held.

Move over Jetson there is a new beloved animated family in town, the Simpsons. The Simpson’s originally aired on December 17th, 1989 and has yet to make us stop laughing. The Simpson’s follow a not so typical American family from the fictional town of Springfield. The episode follow the satirical lives of Homer (Dad), Marge (mom), Bart (brother), Lisa (sister), and Maggie (little sister). Though this is a satirical TV show many episodes provide excellent points and example of material covered in a sociology class. The episode “Marge not be Proud” gives multiple examples of deviant behavior and this essay will discuss two of them.
because he gave him money for the movies and took him on frequent fishing trips.
Satirical humor entertains the audience so that the people appeal some jokes and comic ideas more enjoyable to visualizes. Satire demonstrates something very safe and also not very cynical to the society. Sometimes, satire can misunderstand people that some people find it's an insult to the politics.Satirical humor can also be a tool to communicate people, so people can learn and get involved more about issues in politics. There are some people like comedians that expresses satirical humor in politics. Also, some comedy shows that expresses political satire. For example, some of the famous comedians that I found funny in satirical humor will be James Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, and Jon Stewart; they also host their satirical shows: The Colbert
Socialization plays in important part in the passing on of culture from generation to generation. It is defined as the lifelong process of social interaction through which we acquire a self-identity and the skills needed for survival. The agents of socialization provide the necessary social interactions to teach culture to individuals in a society. The four primary agents of socialization include parents, education, peers, and media. The most pervasive one, media, has a major role in teaching messages about the norms in culture. The purpose of this project was to observe the subtle messages that a TV series, like The Simpsons, send about gender, class, disability/ability, and age.
The Simpsons first aired in 1980 as a hilarious, sarcastic, and exaggerated satire of everyday life. With depictions of politics and politicians, bad parenting, greedy industry owners, and the faults in everyday society. The show really brings to life the thoughts and sometimes unrealistic views we have of everyday people.
Humor can come in many different forms. Many people are aware of the blatant humor of slapstick, but it takes a keener mind to notice the subtle detail in sarcasm or satire. In A Modest Proposal, Jonathan Swift was able to create a piece of literature addressing the faults of the Irish culture while embedding in a humorous essay. Swift’s satire allows for the gravity of the Irish standings to be exploited under the disguise of a proposal for economic benefit.
Homer Jay Simpson, the patriarch of the Simpson household on the Fox series “The Simpsons” is a childish, lazy man, whose hobbies include eating donuts, drinking Duff Beer, watching television, and sleeping. A victim of the “Simpsons gene” which allows for only Simpson women to possess the trait of intelligence, Homer is unfortunately as “dumb as a chimp” according to his father, Abe Simpson. However, it is mainly through the analysis of his simplistic thoughts and nature, that one can gain a real perspective on Homer’s complex personality.
The spectrum of therapeutic techniques available within the health care continuum is very complex and varied. From traditional medicine, to holistic remedies, and anything in between, nurses have a rather large arsenal at their disposal when it comes to treating the patients that are under their care. Humor as an alternative therapy has long been understood as a proven means to aid in the recovery process. “With so much power to heal and renew, the ability to laugh easily and frequently is a tremendous resource for surmounting problems, enhancing your relationships, and supporting both physical and emotional health” (Smith & Segal, 2015). The purpose of this paper is to discuss situations in which humor would be a viable alternative therapy
