Prior to starting the search on human trafficking, I have always been aware of how serious the matter is, but now I know the extent of the seriousness. The research has introduced me to new topics and details of trafficking that I have never knew existed. To be completely honest, apart of me wishes I could go back and choose a different topic. It is frightening having the knowledge about all of the evil that takes places in the world, and how humans are willing to mistreat others just for materialistic things like money. Overall, I am beyond grateful that this was my research topic since I now fully understand each aspect of trafficking. Surprisingly, it was fairly easy to discover information and scholarly sources about human trafficking. Going back a few weeks, the research question for this paper was “How does raising awareness of human trafficking help stop trafficking rates from increasing?” After creating detailed paragraphs and doing research based on that question, it changed to my current topic, “Human trafficking is today’s equivalent of slavery, it must be perceived as such by all people to end this transnational abomination forever.” I understand that changing the topic statement at this time is not a wise thing to do, I was compelled to do so because I felt that this paper would be able to improve and become better by changing the thesis, so that is exactly what I did. The main challenge that I encountered was putting all the information that was found down onto paper and making it all flow together. Another thing that I struggled with was intext citation, I spent a long time rereading these pages checking that all the information was cited correctly.
