Human trafficking has been known to last longer than the regular history of slavery did. Human trafficking has taken the lives of many and continues to do that daily. The topics that will be in my research paper are Immigrants, females and children, geography, causes, the process, outcome and prevention. These are good topics for this paper because no one deserves to go through such a horror that others have lived and that others will. Trafficking in people is a serious crime, and is a dignified infringement of human rights. Every year millions of people, no matter what the race, religion, sex, ethnic, where they are born, all of that, fall into the hands of human traffickers and are taken against their will to do unexplainable things and go
“Human trafficking coerces and persuades their victims to cross national borders in search of new jobs and better opportunities and after that they are forced into some sort of labor bondage” (At Issue: Human Trafficking 1). Even though trafficking is a problem in almost every country; poorer countries have a bigger problem with it because they are more desperate for work. Just in 2000, the U.S. enacted their first federal anti-trafficking law, called the Victims of Trafficking Protection Act (At Issue: Human Trafficking 1). Trafficking has just begun to receive notice on how big of a problem it actually is. “Proponents of strict anti-trafficking initiatives say that laws and prevention against trafficking are necessary in order to stem the growing tide of large scale organized crime that profits off of smuggling and trafficking” (At Issue: Human Trafficking 1).
Social service professionals work to address the problem of human trafficking in a number of ways. Social workers are unique in their approach to this issue because they can address it from a number of angles. For example, social workers concentrate on both the individual victim as well as their social and economic situation which distinguishes it from other professions such as counseling (Palmer, 2010). Social workers meet the needs of human trafficking victims according to the principles outlined in the National Association of Social Worker’s Code of Ethics. (Palmer 2010). Nancy Palmer (2010) notes, that despite some similarities, human trafficking victims have “more complex and wide-ranging service needs” than those who suffer from related criminal acts. (p.48). Education is an important aspect of a social workers job not only to be aware of the problem and of the appropriate standards of action but also to recognize potential victims. Stotts & Ramey’s (2009) research shows, “it is entirely possible for a counselor to come in contact with a victim of trafficking without knowing it. Situations in which counselors are most likely to come into contact with a potential victim include homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, or crisis hotlines” (p.44). Social workers who suspect a possible victim can confirm through the National Trafficking Resource Center as well locating local services available to sufferers. If the victim is in immediate danger then social service workers notify local law enforcement (Stotts & Ramey, 2009). Once victims are identified, then social workers turn to meeting their physical and psychological needs by providing mental and health care to individuals and groups. Studies indicate that victims e...
Discussion Significance The results provided by the present research study supported the hypothesis that there is a need of safe housing for sexually exploited and sex trafficked youth in Rochester, Minnesota. With a growing population and an expanding community, Rochester is seeing an increase in the demand for sexual trafficking. Although this issue is present, it can be difficult to identify the victims. More specifically, victims often fall through the cracks and since a lot of agencies or programs tend to be female-oriented, male victims will often go unnoticed more than female victims.
Summary: We see that there are many different aspects and types of human trafficking that everyone should be made aware of. As a whole human trafficking is a lucrative industry raking in $150 BILLION globally. The impact that this industry has on its victims is
In the world, we live in people are struggling more than ever to make it to their dreams and are using all the means they can to achieve them. Today over 2 million people move from their homes to search for a better life. However not always do they find the happy ending they are looking for. Sometimes they meet people who could care less about them or their dreams and only want to fulfill their own agenda. Due to their desperateness, they have found themselves as victims of an immoral behaviors, human trafficking! I have chosen to analyze human trafficking. Human trafficking is one of the most popular crimes in the United states and foreign countries. First off, let me explain what human trafficking is human trafficking is “an illegal movement
Human trafficking, the illegal trade or purchasing of a human, is a constant issue occurring all around the world. This event is taken place in many different areas with males and females of all ages. It became a known epidemic to the world around the 90's. Traffickers, as they are called, abuse unseen boarders, broadband communication, and economic and political disturbance along with a mass of migrating persons. By seeking out the more vulnerable, they have created a successful business as well as a tragic epidemic in today. Usually, documents were available to track trafficking in persons. However, as times are changing there is an increase in hostility toward immigration due to rising mass movements of people which thus varies these records. There is ignorance about the true definition of typically used terms such as smuggling, trafficking, and illegal immigration which in turn causes a larger playing field for these traffickers and their targeted victims.
Humanity has adapted to human trafficking in order to create beneficial rewards for themselves. Human trafficking is the trading of humans among other humans. People used this crime for sexual slavery, forced labor, and for the extraction of organs. Human trafficking crimes commonly are the effect of places needing resources. In order to receive these resources, they need workers so they force upon others to make profit for a small price.
What is human trafficking? Human trafficking, according the dictionary.com’s definition, is the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation. However there are many different forms of human trafficking and one that has caught my eye is the form called sex trafficking. This is very important because many young teenage girls around my age are affected by it the most and they grow up being a sex slave. Although majority of the victims are young girls, human trafficking affects everyone: male, female, young, and old. There are very few people out here hearing their cry. We are very blind to this topic in the United States because its not very well-known and also because it’s such a big
One of the biggest problems plaguing the earth and its inhabitants today is the act of human trafficking. Human trafficking is the trade of humans, most commonly for the purpose of sexual slavery, forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or others. Over the years, trafficking has been fueled by poverty and gender discrimination. Such as countries with a high poverty rate may be at a higher risk of human trafficking.
Human trafficking is a form of slavery, forcing victims to engage in sexual activities and labors against their will. These activities can be taken place through force, fraud, or constraint. Human trafficking is not just affecting one group of people, it is a worldwide issue, affecting all different ages, genders, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds. Human trafficking is such an immense problem, apprehending the true size, knowing how to help, and how to keep the issue from reoccurring. Human trafficking is and is still becoming such a serious issue that something needs to be done about.
There are many things I will address in section one of my paper on human trafficking. First, will be how human trafficking works. Next, will be Human trafficking in the United States of America. Finally human trafficking out of the United States. I will go more into depth about the history of human trafficking, statistics about human trafficking, and info to argue how human trafficking is so wrong.
Forrest Bounds Mrs. Karhliker World Literature 13 March 2014 Title Lies, deceit, and abductions: Human trafficking victims face either some or both of these methods to steal these men and women away from the lives they have built. Human trafficking is a plague afflicting most modern societies; men, women and children are trafficked for sexual slavery and cheap labor against their wills. Often times children are taken or lured from their homes and men blackmailed into slave labor for little or nothing. Women and children are trafficked for sexual uses, mainly prostitution.
Human trafficking, or the selling and buying of people, is a well-hidden yet prominent issue within today’s society. It is both an immoral and horrific topic that needs brought to attention and dealt with. When human beings are manipulated into work, sexual servitude, or economic hardship, human trafficking is occurring. In the year of 2006, only one individual is convicted of human trafficking per 800 victims (UNGIFT). By looking at straight statistics, reasons human trafficking happens, and the toll it has on people, it is very clear that this is a major issue that is happening in our world.
Human trafficking is a topic that is not discussed very often in society. Many people fail to realize that human trafficking still exists today. Human trafficking violates basic human rights. It takes away the freedom and security of men, women, and children world wide. The diversity and widespread execution of human trafficking make it difficult to regulate and prosecute.
On the news and all over the world you hear the term human trafficking. What exactly is human trafficking? “Human trafficking is essentially modern-day slave trading, which ensnares millions of people in debt bondage or forced conditions.” (Siddharth). As many know today human trafficking has become a phenomenon all over the country. Human Trafficking is a global activity where women and young girls are being traded and used as sexual exploitation. As Siddharth stated that human trafficking is slowly becoming one of the most involved criminal activities all over the world. Two causes and two effects on how strongly our human beings are encouraged to take action.
