Based on the Catholic Social Justice teachings it shows us as a society how we should run so that individuals can reach their full potential and humanity.it also shows how we should love in union with God. The teachings are called to build on a commitment to the poor and vulnerable and come from Jesus’ teachings. Human trafficking is a serious global issue. It involves the illegal trade of humans for slavery, forced labour, organ trafficking and other horrible stuff. It is an important problem because it violates basic human rights. Distributive justice is the obligation of society to look out for the good of all members. It is the obligation of the government to its citizens. Distributive is the government's responsibility to make sure that citizens are experiencing their full rights and basic needs are met. Distributive justice is being violated because those people who are within the human trafficking world, especially the ones who are being trafficked, their rights are not being upheld because the government is not doing enough to protect them. Legal justice is another type of justice being violated because those leading the trafficking are not following the rules and laws in our community and society. The reasons for this issue are caused by social, economic, and political factors. The stem of this issue is poverty, lack of education, inequality, and the demand for cheap labour. We can eliminate this issue by raising awareness, enforcing strict laws, and supporting victims. In class, we referred to the two feet of love in action, one foot of charity and the other the foot of justice. We are called to walk with both feet, not just one. When addressing justice issues, we need to become aware of people's needs and our first thought is to respond with direct action to attend to their immediate needs, but sometimes not enough. The charity is the immediate help but will not eliminate the issue. The steps being taken to help people who are currently experiencing human trafficking are giving them a place to stay, healthcare and support groups. The foot of justice removes the root cause and improves structure. We step on this foot by helping low-income people to not only survive, but to also escape poverty. Justice is making things fair by having stricter laws, more police, and working with other countries. Referring to a video we watched in class “Chocolate Child Saves,” which was an example of human trafficking because they were going to other cities to take children, especially to come and work for free on plantations.
