Have you ever imagined being forced against you're will to do vile and disgusting acts? This is what hundreds upon thousands of women go through a year. $32 billion dollars a year is accumulated by the works of this “underground industry” called Human Sex Trafficking. (Fox2) Kidnapping, manipulating, and selling are three words that can describe what horrific action are taken towards the young victims in this business. Sex trafficking is 90% women and girls. (Sex Trafficking) Over 50,000 women are trafficked into the United States every year. (Sex Trafficking) It happens all over the country, especially in the cracks of America. Sex trafficking is just as big of a problem found in America as it is internationally. The lack of law enforcement towards this social issue has created a persistent business instead of a complete halt to this tragedy.
There are a variety of definitions for what Human Sex Trafficking could mean but most explanations are followed or understood by three main “bottom-line” sources. The Office of the Attorney General article states the California Legislative definition as any involvement of things such as recruitment, abduction, and transportation within the country through force for slavery or labor (What is Human Sex Trafficking?) The Office of the Attorney General quotes the Federal Law meaning as "deprives or violates the personal liberty of another with the intent . . . to obtain forced labor or services" (What is Human Sex Trafficking?) The article states the ILO (International Labor Organization), also known as an agency of the United States, also defines sex trafficking. It is described as any forms of coercion, fraud, deception, or responsibility of the consent from a perpetrator having total control...

(States toughen laws) What may have formed this problem and created such a low grade in California could be because of the complications of being penalized under the trafficking law when perpetrators are profited financially from supporting sex trafficking, and disturbingly “minimal penalties” are applied to pornography offenders (States toughen laws)
