Following proper ethical decision-making guidance in the human service agency is a core to success and acceptance by the community. If agencies do not follow ethical standards and guidelines, they cannot foster a positive atmosphere when attempting to help the people from their communities. Human service agencies have professionals whose goal is to accomplish the mission of helping people through their ethical decision-making process. However, there are also employees who do not adhere to the ethical guidelines and make poor decisions that cause the mission human service agencies fail because of the lack of trust by members of the community. One has to remember it only takes one poor decision to make a community lose trust for years to come. Human service workers will always be faced with ethical dilemmas on sometimes a daily basis. Leaders should know and follow the ethical guidelines in place for the agency. If the leaders do not follow the code of ethics, some of the employees may not either. This is an internal obstacle that will hinder any progress toward ethical practices within an agency. Additionally, regular ethics training from an external source will help all employees of an organization understand the accepted ethical practices. The training should start at new employee orientation. A scenario format is one of the best learning experiences. It will allow the new employee make decisions based on their moral reasoning. However, it is important to remember that training will not solve all problems of the ethical-decision making process. However, it will allow more employees to see the difference between ethical and unethical decisions. Many times, employees already have their minds made up and they will make unethical decisions regardless of the training. Ethical decision-making is the responsibility of everyone, regardless of position or level within an organization. Interestingly, the importance of stressing employee awareness, improving decisions, and coming to an ethical resolution are the greatest benefits to most companies in today’s world (Weber, 2015).
Working with people can be challenging, but so rewarding all at the same time. As humans, we are certainly not perfect and we are making mistakes daily. Making decisions is one thing that does not come easily to us, and depending on the day you can get multiple different answers to one situation. Ethical Issues in Social Work I will provide practical help for new social workers to help them understand and deal with ethical issues and dilemmas which they will face. There are many ethical issues which are important to social work, but I feel that these are all covered by the care value base. The care value base Was devised by the care sector consortium in 1992, this was so that the workers in health and social care had a common set of values and principles which they would all adhere to. It is important because for the first time the social care sector had a clear set of guidelines from which ethical judgements could be made. The care value base is divided into 5 elements - The care value base covers - Equality and Diversity - Rights and responsibilities - Confidentiality - Promoting anti Discrimination - Effective communication Equality and Diversity Carers must value diversity themselves before they can effectively care for the different races, religions and differently abled people they will come across in their caring profession.

The National Association of Social Work's Code of Ethics is not only something that is crucial to someone in the field of Social Work but can also be applied to everyday life. These values in which the Code of Ethics mandates professionals to use are very important in knowing how to help clients in bettering their lives, and in help society as a whole become a better place. Service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence are all the core values of Ethics and should be learned and practiced by all, not only Social Workers (NASW, 2008).
