I believe that people from every socioeconomic background in every part of the world deserves access to clean water in order to live a healthy and happy lifestyle. This belief fuels my passion for learning about the environment and human health. Thus, I plan to attain my bachelors degree in Environmental Health Science from the University of Georgia and then to pursue a dual M.D./Ph.D. degree in order to conduct scientific research on how human health is impacted by the environment. My goal is to become Nyree Riley, M.D., Ph.D. and improve the health of the population by making clean water accessible and affordable to people across the globe. A life in medicine, particularly being a physician scientist, is one that embodies my purpose and goals in life. My motivation stems from a multitude …show more content…
My time in the classes as well as assisting in any way possible in the Shock Trauma Unit opened my eyes to a side of medicine that I had never been exposed to before. A hunger and desire to not only learn more about medicine, but to also be able to create a lasting impact and a difference in the lives of people began to burn inside of me. Since then, I have taken classes related to environmental health and human health while pursuing my bachelors degree at the University of Georgia and have been conducting research in Wetland Ecology under the supervision of Dr. Darold P. Batzer. In doing so, I have expanded my breadth of knowledge about the environment and human health and I have gained valuable lab and research experience. However, I know that taking classes and conducting research are only the first steps to achieving my long term goal of becoming Nyree Riley, M.D., Ph.D.. Therefore, I want to participate in SEEP College in order to be immersed in more clinical hospital settings as well as to learn about health disparities and to develop
Life’s experiences, work, and education have prepared me to further my education. I will achieve this goal with the ability to analyze situations, make informed decisions, and provide my patients with the best evidence based care possible. I will also have the ability to impact change in quality improvement, policy and procedure, and overall patient care with evidence based
I aspire to exceed expectations in this field and work with doctors to access possible conditions. As a student who has always been passionate about science and excelled in these areas, I have had the opportunity to share my knowledge while assisting a physics instructor in the laboratory with experiments he plans to introduce in future classes and while tutoring struggling students in Chemistry, A&P, and Statistics. This has been a rewarding experience for me as I desire to see others succeed. This has also allowed me to stay sharp in these areas and has helped me learn to communicate more effectively; both of which will be beneficial to my program. This year, I’ve had the honor of instructing a science club at a private school where I led a group of students through hands-on learning projects and experimentations. Although I demonstrate a strong background in Science, I knew it would be important to gain some medical experience. I was fortunate to be able to volunteer at a local women’s health clinic with the head sonographer beginning August 2017 and continuing for 1 year until classes begin in the
My mom always used to say,” Look at the person as a whole to understand the condition.” Even though it made little sense to me as a child, I learned the concept when I was doing my Internal medicine rotation. The passion of knowing that I could improve a person’s quality of life drew me into pursuing medicine. The multitude of different organ systems that one covers while practicing medicine fascinated me to delve into a field that encompasses them all - Internal Medicine. In addition, I enjoyed the challenges that Internal Medicine would provide me with its diversity. Altogether, Internal Medicine was the amalgam of everything I learned in my medical practice and decided to pursue my residency.
4-H has helped me tremendously and I am intend to do the same for future 4-H generations. I will continue to volunteer for various 4-H events such as teaching project days and the fair. My club currently has alumni help at some of our meetings such as highway ditch cleanup and our community projects. I plan to come back to help the young 4-Hers learn the importance helping one's community and assist them in doing just that. In addition, I hope to one day be a judge in the county fair for the science project areas and an interview judge in poultry as well as bid in the Blue Ribbon Auction. I am so thankful for all of the volunteers that have made my 4-H experience wonderful and hope to be as impactful for future generations.
“Without health life is not life; it is only a state of languor and suffering- an image
...forming bench research at Barry University and Weill Cornell Medical College in the Traveler’s Research Fellowship, I have been exposed to the side of medicine where scientists work every day to find cures for diseases and save lives. Experiencing different aspects of medicine has made me a more competent individual to thrive in this field and has deepened my interest and passion to pursue medicine as a career.I believe that those who fight with so little against so much truly need others to help them in their struggle. Being a physician is not only becoming a successful professional. I will work hard to bring about necessary changes to end social disparities, so that more groups in society receive the best healthcare. By making a difference in their lives, I will receive rewarding experiences that are worth all the hard work and sacrifice my chosen career requires.
I first considered a public health career when I interned at the Ghana Health Service Family Health Department as an undergraduate student. Participating in national meetings focused on strategies to reduce maternal mortality in Ghana, I recognized that, in order to create sustainable advances, it is crucial to address the underlying social inequalities that exacerbate adverse health outcomes. To advance this goal, I am seeking admission into the Global Health and Population Doctoral Program at the Harvard School of Public Health.
I applied to the Global MedPrep Scholars Program to study abroad in Shanghai, China. This experience allowed me to view health care from a global perspective. Studying the Chinese health care system has given me a glimpse as to what Global Health entails, allowing me to aspire towards my goal. Similarly, I believe the SPRINGH program will allow me to continue studying Global Health in the capacity of my interest. Doing this kind of research is where I believe my passion lies as a future physician. If accepted, I would have the opportunity to conduct Global Health research at sites across the world, gaining access to invaluable experiences and knowledge that would facilitate my future in global
Healthcare administration is a field that is often overlooked, but is essentially the beating heart of any healthcare organization. With more and more hospital, and clinics, and other healthcare organizations popping up everywhere there is a need for people like me to manage the day-to-day operations. I am choosing to apply to this program because I want to study how the U.S. healthcare system operates. I want to learn the essential skills of operating a healthcare facility such as managing a budget, reducing healthcare costs, analyzing the efficiency of an organization and proposing ways to improve it. This program is going to give me the necessary education and skills so I can carry out my goal of being a healthcare administrator.
Organizations are instruments created to achieve success. As I continue my quest as a pre-medical student I recognize the value of belonging to a professional organization that can disseminate information and unite people who share the same occupation or common interests. I am new to the American Medical Women’s Association world of global diversity and leadership. As a current member of the AMWA, my goals is to become and advocate for advancing and improving women and children health issues within the underserved populations. I can only achieve these goals by connecting myself with a network of labors of the healthcare field. The AMWA provides a unique platform to increase the awareness of global health to ensure a foundation of health education
I have an unquenchable desire to learn and develop the mind. I believe, one of the greatest ways to better care for individuals, families, communities and the population was to pursue the Master of Public Health Program and concentrate on Community Health Education. With the Master of Public Health degree, I can better understand how to implement, plan and evaluate health promotion and disease prevention programs to better serve different communities. I want to pursue a master’s degree to focus on my career interest more in-depth. Choosing to pursue the MPH program is a lifelong self-fulfillment, because there is no greater satisfaction than knowing I am going to wake up every day to improve the lives of people all around the world. Higher education is rewarding and can open the door to greater opportunities. I aspire a career with a purpose, that is why I chose to complete my graduate

Personal health is extremely important to everyone around the world. But it is especially important to citizens of the United States of America. Being one of the leading countries in Health technology and also in food and beverage leaves most people choosing between living a healthy lifestyle and indulging in the varieties of food we offer. Across the country, many people are living with pre-existing conditions, living in food deserts, living below the poverty line and a long list of other factors that either hinders them from eating healthy or force them to eat healthily. When trying to live a healthy lifestyle in this country not only does the promotion of prevention matter, but also the promotion of Career and job opportunities matter just as much. In the United States, Money equals Power and money also equal the opportunity to create and live a healthier lifestyle.
My personal health has been something I constantly think about. Whether it’s myself, my parents, my doctor, or others that bring it up, I’m reminded that I need to eat healthier or exercise more, etc. I know that I need to get better about what I eat and try to work more exercise into my daily routine, I just find it hard to find the motivation to go and actually accomplish what I know that I need to do. Especially in today’s society where we’re surrounded by a lot of non-healthy food, and getting access to healthy food is more expensive than the latter, it’s hard to make the better choice and choose the healthy option. I’m hoping now that I’m in college that I’m able to get better at taking care of myself than I have in the past.
