How to purchase a smartphone is a very interesting topic. “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” (Isaacson). This quote from Albert Einstein is true now more than ever. Everyone is on the go now with work and personal, choosing the correct smartphone may not be as easy as it sounds. There are many factors that should be looked at before picking a phone. Let’s look at the history of smartphones and where the term came from.
Smartphone is a mobile phone that has a mobile operating system that combines personal digital assistant with a mobile phone. They have added more functions into the phone like: media players, digital cameras, video cameras, and GPS. The first smartphone in 1994 only had the capability to send and receive facsimiles, emails, and pages. It also had a few applications like: address book, calendar, scheduler, calculator, games, and electronic note pad (Wikipedia).

The first thing that should be looked at is the carrier. Verizon and AT&T are the leaders in the market. Sprint and T-Mobile are not as wide spread but are cheaper when it comes to costs. So for the carrier if you are looking for a cheaper one sprint and T-Mobile is a good choice but if you want better coverage Verizon and AT&T are the better choice (Spoonauer).
The next thing to look at is the operating system. There are many different operating systems to choice from. The most common OS are: Android, iOS, Windows phone, blackberry, and Asha. The other OS are: Bada, Blackberry OS, Brew, GridOS, Linux, MER, Nemo mobile, S40, Sailfish OS, SHR, Symbian OS, Tizen, and WebOS. Let’s discuss the common OS’s:
