A proposed before, the Sustainability centre has to be as sustainable and green as possible. Sustainability means meeting the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations. So after doing some research and surveys the best sustainable technologies that can be used in the centre is Solar Photovoltaic panels and wind turbine. A solar Photovoltaic panel (PV cells) captures the suns energy using photovoltaic cells. Photovoltaic cells look similar to solar panels but are different and they work in a different way. Solar panels are normally used to produce hot water. But the PV cells convert the sunlight directly into electricity. An example could be a solar powered calculator which is powered by photovoltaic cells. The PV cells don’t directly need sunlight to work unlike solar panels, they can still generate electricity on cloudy days. Basically PV cells can produce small amount of energy when the sun isn’t even out, however the sunnier it is the more power is generated. And also the current building regulations, requires the developers to reduce the amount of carbon emitted from new buildings as part of the Governments objective of achieving zero carbon emissions from all the new buildings by the end of the decade. Solar panel is one of the most popular sustainable technology at this moment because of its benefits which are • It cuts electricity bills – PV cells use sunlight to produce electricity which is free so it doesn’t cost any money, PV cells can produce around 50% of the electricity used in the drop in centre cutting the electricity bills down by 50% • It also reduces carbon footprint – PV cells doesn’t release any harmful CO2 or any other pollutants, the drop in centre could save round 1500 kg of ... ... middle of paper ... ...work [Accessed: 27 Feb 2014]. With forward movement in society, it is important to consider not just what will propel most toward success, but also what will help to sustain the environment along the way. What may have been considered appropriate decades ago, may no longer be socially acceptable due to the changes observed in both the business world and the environment (Fiske, 2010). Therefore, it is important for organizations thriving in today?s economy to consider how they may capitalize most effectively from their product or service of choice while minimizing or eliminating any damages along the way (Knoke, 2012).
...s is priceless. Whether it’s through public awareness or implementation of policies, the end goal and objective is to provide sustainability for future generations ahead.
Wind turbines can be very useful in bringing energy into your home. They are especially useful when solar panels aren't working. They take the wind speed from oceans, lakes, dugouts, or rivers and turn it into energy. To use the wind turbines most efficiently you should set up a wind power system.

Before I go in to detail about usage and implementation of solar cells, let me explain just how they work. Solar cells, also known as photovoltaic cells (Photo= light Voltaic=electricity) capture photons, convert them into electrons, and use these electrons to transfer energy to whatever you want to power. To do this, solar cells are made with a material called a semiconductor, which, for solar cells is almost always silicon. When light hits this material, it causes electrons to break loose and flow throughout the material. By placing metal plates on the solar cell, we can capture this flow of electrons, otherwise known as current. Using the equation Power= Volts * Current, you can calculate the voltage output of a cell, which, using silicon, is about 1.1 volts- a 25% or so efficiency.

Sustainability has extended to our field; people have begun to understand the importance and necessity to introduce this practice into their life. All of this not

There is great hope for a lot more solar panels to be installed worldwide. Solar is a viable alternative energy with solar panels becoming more affordable and more efficiently designed.
Sustainability is a concept with a diverse array of meanings and definitions – a widely used glamorous, ambiguous, ambivalent and vague concept that is used by different stakeholder groups in various ways. Presumably to avoid noodling over a terminology or to avoid the confrontation with a definition, most widely the concept is broken down a planning process (c.f. e.g. Döring & Muraca, 2010). That is why most common sustainability is understood as sustainable development.1
Each one of us has their own opinion about what wind turbines do and not what they are actually meant for. Wind turbines are meant to be an energy saving method that can be used ...
As I have previously stated earlier in the evaluation PV systems, or Solar Home Systems (SHS), and many other solar power systems play a significant role in the harvesting of solar energy. But, the most used solar energy systems are Grid-connected systems, Stand-Alone Grid-tied Systems, Off-Grid systems, Stand-Alone Off-Grid Systems, and Stand-Alone Off-Grid Hybrid Systems. In grid-connected or grid-tied systems, solar energy is used during the day by the system owner. At night, the owner makes use of the previously harvested electricity grid. A huge bonus of having the grid-tied system is that the solar system does not need to be sized to meet peak loads, overages can be taken from the grid. In most cases, left over energy generated during the day can be sent back to the grid. Grid-connected systems must meet utility requirements. Most importantly, inverters must not emit noise that can interfere with equipment reception. Inverters must also switch off in cases of grid failure. Lastly, they must retain voltage quality and current output waveforms. Grid-connected systems can be applied to residential installations. Stand-alone grid-connected systems are the same as grid-connected systems, except with battery storage added to allow power to be generated even if the electricity grid fails. Stand-alone grid-tied systems can be applied to residential and business systems that require unlimited and uninterrupted power that’ll keep generating day and night. Off-grid systems are not connected to the electricity grid. The output of an off-grid system depends heavily upon the intensity of the rays being given off by sun. The more intense the sun exposure, the greater the output. They can also be used for water pumps and greenhouse vent...
I am certain that all have heard of the terms greenhouse gases, fossil fuels, and global warming. Have you ever questioned what will happen if nothing is done about the environmental problems facing the world today? What if I answer you that, we can merely use the power from the sun to power up our entire planet without the use of harmful energy sources, which affect our atmosphere? The power from the sun is what we call solar power. Solar power is the energy that comes from the sun as light and heat energy, and then it is later converted into electrical energy through solar panels (Nelson, 2008).
When the sun heats the panel, it generates clean energy, which does not pollute the environment. All in all, the costs of solar power might not be applicable when it is certainly the best way to have a clean environment.
