The written word has existed since three thousand two hundred B.C. and has changed how humanity functions and evolve forever. It has brought the downfall of civilizations, the creation of civilizations, and has the power to evoke emotions long after written. Writing is a creation that impacts life every day, and not just on the large scale of things. Writing allows for seamless communication, the transmission of information, and provides clarity.

The mass spread of writing through the printing press, allowed for the spread of different religious beliefs, scientific beliefs, and government reform beliefs. The words on those papers has altered history which has altered life today. The Constitution, a written document, set up an entire government, the United States government, with laws that impact everyday life. It determines what can be said, how people can live their life, who could vote, and gun rights. The Bible is another written document with a power that affects millions of people. If passed down orally, it would not have the following it has today. Writing ideas down has kept them alive and has expanded the reach of them. When concepts are told orally, they are always slightly changed by the person who repeats, and if the person who knows the concept dies, the concept is lost. Having the idea written ensures that the information was not lost or changed. Scientific beliefs have also been kept alive through the written word, the theory of gravity, electricity, and evolution are just a few. Without writing, the theories would have taken much longer to spread around the world and technology would be delayed.
