Today I stand as a woman to talk about respect and how women should be treated in my home country of the Democratic Republic of Congo. I understand that women have no value in my country. I understand that they are now treating us as animals, not as mothers who gave them life. I understand that the rules of human rights are not working. According to my point of view, I would like to share with you, as a mother and as a woman, that I am really hurt because I have a passion for women and I know how it hurts to be a woman. I want to spread the word that women are very important. Without us, there is no life and we have to be treated equally.
In my country today, I see rape, killing, threatening women, and in my own eyes I saw my mom being raped by three men. I, myself, was raped by one man which my mom saw. These are bad memories in my life. At first, I could see it as a part of life due to the situation in my country. Though I was a victim with no peace of mind, I could try to be happy like every other person.
