Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this beautiful day as we celebrate the wedding of two very special people Amanda and Dom. I want to thank you all for coming along and hope we all enjoy this wonderful evening amongst family and friends. I’ll start with My little girl Amanda, well she is all grown up, I always remember her as my little princess as I used call her, still do from time to time. Being our first child it doesn’t seem so long ago and I remember it vividly, the feeling of immense pride the day she was born . Being the first child I was very over protective so she was always going to be extra special but from that point on I have had an amazing journey and enjoyed countless moments from childhood, teenager, adolescent …show more content…
I am truly proud of the woman she has become, as well as her career achievements she continues to surprise Maria and I with her professional approach to almost all situations. You really, really know when you know your daughters happy ,when she has found the right man you see a little weight coming on and she doesn’t get worried about the clothes that don’t fit her any more, which is a hint, they love their food , I’ve never know Amanda to eat so much since she met Dom but that was the sign for me As soon as I met Dom I knew instantly he was a good man and that he can only bring goodness and happiness to Amanda s life and when I walked Amanda down the aisle today I may have let her go but we have gained a gentleman who I’m proud to call my son in law. Together Dom and Amanda will soon embark on a new chapter in their lives with their own family and a future for them to go beyond the dreams we all live for, of love, happiness and
To start, Amanda Wingfield displays different characteristics from Troy. Amanda lives with her son and daughter who are in their 20’s and are supposed to be starting their lives. Amanda wants Laura to succeed in life and be a remarkable wife to one of her future gentleman callers. When Amanda discovers Laura has stopped going to her typewriting class, Amanda realizes her dreams of Laura succeeding are flickering away, “My hopes and ambitions for you”(Williams 14). Through this quote Williams incorporates heartache into Amanda’s voice depicting her ambition for Laura to succeed. She also feels, “So weak I could barely keep on my feet!”(Williams 14). These two quotes illustrate that Laura’s own being is extremely important to Amanda and to an extent, acts as if Laura’s failure is her own failure. This sense of care that Amanda shows is essential to help Laura make something of herself and appears to the reader as a deep aspiration of Amanda’s conscious. While Troy only cares for Cory because , “It is my job...cause it’s my duty”(Wilson 38). Another way Amanda wants Laura to be blissful is through her efforts in trying to get Laura a gentleman c...
Good evening. I would like to begin by welcoming each and every one of you to this joyous and stressful occasion.
Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen - I must admit, I am more nervous about participating in this wedding than I was as the groom (bridegroom) at my own wedding. Maybe it's because I have been married thirty years and I know what my son is getting himself in to!
I would like to thank the beautiful bridesmaids for looking after the bride, the vicar for a lovely service, his boss for the great improvement in the weather and the staff at the h...
Well, good afternoon everyone, for those of you that don?t know me my name is Lee and I?m Janie?s dad, and in keeping with tradition, it is my honor and privilege to deliver the ?Father of the Bride Speech?. Humorous Wedding Speech about the Groom Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Before starting the one speech that I know you’ve all been waiting for, I’d like to thank both Steve and Marcus – my two support acts. And I’d also like to thank Marcus in particular, for hosting what so far has been an absolutely fantastic wedding.
Today is a day when each one of us wishes the happy couple well. Being human they will have their disagreements. Life being what it is there will be sad moments as well as glad. Yet I know that today we are all wishing them happiness and health in those years to come, and I am sure that the love between them will be strong enough to last forever.
...y and Amanda still lives like before. Everything is same like beginning except for Patrick, Angie, Remy and Jack. Patrick and Angie used their relationship to prove that parenting is either a right or a privilege. Remy and Jack lose to the right for not being able to bring Amanda away from her mother. They used their life to prove that parenting should be a privilege.
mother Amanda and here two children Tom and Laura. Amanda has a life that is
Moreover, Doyle would consider the impacts of this awful child rearing on Amanda's future. She could build up a failure to keep up stable connections, a low confidence, melancholy, or even certain mental issue from her mom’s mishandle (Lindsay, R. A. 2005.). By restoring her to her "legitimate" home, he has consequently guaranteed her future decimation. This is at last indecent.
Amanda loves her children and tries her best to make sure they do not follow her path to downfall. Unfortunately, while she is trying to push her children toward her ideals of success, she is also pushing them away. Amanda Wingfield is a kind woman stuck in the wrong place and time; she is trying to make her children’s life perfect while attempting to get a re-do on her love life with Laura and forcing Tom to fill the role that her husband abandoned. Amanda Wingfield was never meant to be in the situation that she finds herself in.
Her ramblings about the the past reveal what could have been for Amanda: widow
Hopefully Amanda will walk away ok. She’s a fighter at heart. She’s strong and sure and good willed. I just hope I won’t have to cross paths with her again. It might be too much to bear for either of us.
She is so adamant about her past as a Southern Belle that it is almost as if she cannot accept being anything other than that. She brags about receiving seventeen gentlemen callers, but married a man who “fell in love with long distances” rather than with his family (Williams 5). Amanda’s life is dictated by the societal expectations she holds, and she enforces them on her children. She still sees herself as a popular, charming, and beautiful lady living in the South with callers every weekend. Because of the tilted way she views her world, she refuses to accept Laura’s disability and the fact that Tom is not meant to succeed in the warehouse.
... her only hope for a stable future. Amanda dreams of her daughter getting married to a rich gentleman. After the truth of Jim O’Connor’s fiancé is exposed, Amanda is almost as heartbroken as Laura because she realized how unachievable her dream really is. Amanda says to herself, "Don't think about us, a mother deserted, an unmarried sister who's crippled and has no job" (391). She is so frustrated with failing time after time and she takes it out on Tom, who she already has much tension with. Tom is pushed over the edge and leaves them finally and unfortunately.
