Aidan P.O.V (Leo) “So you’re telling us that you don’t know your magic, your element?” I could not believe this girl. She seemed delusional. She’s also probably crazy, I mean, Aurora did find her in a bush just laying there like she had no care in the world. Her head then snapped in my direction and she looked hysterical. Her eyes were crazed, her dress was torn in many places, her body was covered in dirt, but we were the crazy ones? "What the hell are you guys!?", she screamed hysterically. I looked at her for a good minute trying to contemplate whether she was serious or not. I then decided she was serious. "You should probably take it from here Meri", I mumbled. I was amazed. The school or academy I should say, went on for acres and acres. Nearby there was an ocean and there were forest a little way near the school. The architecture was a Gothic style school that was incredibly tall. It was so tall that the towers where shrouded in clouds so I couldn't see where they ended. The windows were arched and they had incredible mosaic glass on them and the the whole entire school was covered in detail, not an inch of the architecture was spared. I kept admiring the architecture, when all of a sudden the two, huge double doors opened …show more content…
If I had crystal for every time this specific school guard got on my nerves, I'd be hella rich. "All of you are late and will be sent to detention later", he said with his annoying voice. I rolled my eyes. I knew this guard got on my nerves, but the only other people who dislikes this guard more than me is my twin, Ciel. "Oh no", said Ciel sarcastically, "We have detention", he said with mockingly. I heard Kai and Aidan snort loudly behind me and then I heard Meri elbow them so that the situation doesn't get worse. I saw Toidi the guard get angry. Toidi is a water sign, specifically a Scorpio. Unfortunately, he's one the annoying ones. I felt condensation fill the air and I could feel the air around us getting moist. I knew he wouldn't hurt us, I mean he is the school guard, but I knew he could make false accusations and get us even more in trouble. Wouldn't be the first time. "Don't worry Toidi, we know the drill", as I was saying that too him I patted him on the shoulders and started walking towards the headmasters office, hoping he wouldn't say anything else because he's suuuuuuper annoying. "Wait, who is she", he said. Shit, I totally forgot about

Within gothic fiction there is a theme of split and opposing sides. The defining ideas of gothic literature are countering society’s ideas of the norm and moral. Good vs. evil, light vs. darkness are equal to the ideas that human doubles with monster and religion faces science. Demonic identity can be found within any person who seeks it out; Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein portrays Viktor as a character who has discovered his other side. The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson also explores the many sides to the human psyche and the capabilities of human transformation. Both characters in many ways are split in two: one part being a natural and moral being that fits into society. The other part is their demonic

When I think of traditional gothic style writings, I picture dark, creepy, and gloomy situations. Most writings in a traditional gothic style may cause your heart to beat a little more rapid and give you chilling goose bumps. However, I feel that when I read writings by Edgar Allen Poe the ‘gothic’ theme is taken to the next level giving a petrifying suspicion. Poe leaps past ordinary and traditional writing by including symbolism within words, mysteries with hidden meanings, and more dramatic and horrifying conditions than normal. David Galloway says, “Poe was a master of intensity of the picture he is able to construct from essentially ‘Gothic’ materials. But Poe attempted to go beyond the popular gothic tradition, and deplored the meretricious use of terror and grotesquerie.” I believe that the variety of Poe’s works not only met the requests of the marketplace, but was also an expression of Poe’s own thoughts about life in a deeper meaning.
Gothic literature was developed during the eighteenth and nineteenth century of the Gothic era when war and controversy was too common. It received its name after the Gothic architecture that was becoming a popular trend in the construction of buildings. As the buildings of daunting castles and labyrinths began, so did the beginning foundation of Gothic literature. The construction of these buildings will later become an obsession with Gothic authors. For about 300 years before the Renaissance period, the construction of these castles and labyrinths continued, not only in England, but also in Gothic stories (Landau 2014). Many wars and controversies, such as the Industrial Revolution and Revolutionary War, were happening at this time, causing the Gothic literature to thrive (“Gothic Literature” 2011). People were looking for an escape from the real world and the thrill that Gothic literature offered was exactly what they needed. Gothic literature focuses on the horrors and the dark sides to the human brain, such as in Mary Shelley’s book Frankenstein. Gothic literature today, as well as in the past, has been able to separate itself apart from other types of literature with its unique literary devices used to create fear and terror within the reader.
Looking at Gothic Horror The horror genre remains very popular with cinema audiences even nowadays because the special effects today make creatures look even more terrifyingly realistic and it also means that you can film stunts or scenes like somebody turning into a werewolf for example, much more easy to film and much more effective. An example of a modern horror film that consists of very effective special effects is 'Underworld' that makes use of computer generation to make some impressive transformation scenes. The advances in technology give modern horror films an edge over classics and a modern audience expects a lot more from a horror film nowadays.
I walked in and my stomach made a flip-flop like riding “The Scream” at Six Flags. Everyone was staring at me! With their curios eyes and anxious to know who I was. I froze like ice and felt the heat rise through my face. My parents talked to my teacher, Ms.Piansky. Then my mom whispered “It’s ti...

Gothic literature is usually set in an isolated setting and has a dark, mysterious, and evil tone. In this type of literature, there are usually dark castles, palaces, presences of supernatural beings, and religion. I peered around through the rain, desperately searching for some shelter, I was drowning out here. The trouble was, I wasn’t in the best part of town, and in fact it was more than a little dodgy. I know this is my home turf but even I had to be careful. At least I seemed to be the only one out here on such an awful night. The rain was so powerfully loud I couldn’t hear should anyone try and creep up on me. I also couldn’t see very far with the rain so heavy and of course there were no street lights, they’d been broken long ago. The one place I knew I could safely enter was the church, so I dashed.
Stephen King is known as one of the greatest horror and gothic writers of our time. The reason for this is his ability to fuse the gothic elements created by stories such as Dracula or Frankenstein and todays horror. King has written hundreds of short stories but two in-particular “The Night Flier” and “Popsy” show his unique ability to combined gothic elements from the old literature with realistic settings and people of our era. One of his greater talents is being able to use gothic element like vampires and make us see them in a different light. Kings unique way of writing with his old gothic ideals, new horror ideas, and use of realistic settings help to put a new spin on what we conceive as gothic story.
Gothic storytelling is a form of writing that usually includes horror, death, and romance. People write gothic style for the thrill of having a little bit of scariness in their story. Gothic style can be shown through the imagery and themes. The Fall of the House of Usher and Crimson Peak are two stories that show gothic writing though the imagery of the houses and supernatural.

“Whatever,” I continued “I’m late for class. Forget about the plans going to be library at lunch” getting out of my car and slamming the door so I could hear the bleep noise to lock.
I got a detention for waking up too late and missing my first class, which was health. i was 17 at that time so it seemed irrelevant learning about puberty when i was already done growing. I was sitting by myself at the far end corner of the lunch room staring at the wall. And then out of nowhere you see jack walking into the large double doors 30 minutes past the time detention started. He stops and looks at me dead in the eyes for what felt like an hour. I felt special like he picked me, out of everyone he picked me. I felt special for that 3 second moment, i felt special. He then proceeds to give the detention monitor a smug smile who in return just rolls his eyes at him. Far from where i sat, he walks to the opposite side of the room and
The buzz about this "Drill Sergeant" wasn't the best. Like a case of Chinese Whispers, the grapevine swung into action. "Do you know she smokes?" said one. "Have you heard she's one for detention?" said another. "I hope I'm not in her class," stated another. As we were all sending our silent prayers to the one above, the class lists were posted. A mad clamor ensued to find out where each one of us was headed. A sense of dread had taken hold of me. I was not particularly lucky w...
