Movies have become significant part of our lives as they serve multiple purposes for difference audience including, entertainment and education among others. These three aspects, distribution, promotion and exhibition are essentials to impacting on the experience of a movie. Distribution entails process that allows the film reach public. Promotion helps to generate the desired generation for the public to watch a film and exhibition is the settings where an individual watches the film. I had the opportunity to watch the re-released version of Forrest Gump in IMAX at the Regal Fox Cinemas in Ashburn, Virginia on Sunday September 7, 2014. The audience was ideal because it comprised of mostly adults. The reason for stating that the audience was ideal is because the story line was appropriate for them; there were some scenes that had nudity, mild profanity and sexual references. Getting entertained and appreciating creativity is important for young people. The positive side of creativity was manifested in the movie.
Changing the audience or theater could have affected my viewing in various ways. For instance, I could not be comfortable and at peace watching the movie with children below 13 years. The time and the theater location was also important, if I were to watch it at home, I would not have gotten the opportunity to interact with others, view the quality of the IMAX images and the sound tracks would not have been appealing as that of the theater’s.
The cultural experience extended beyond the screening. The movie connected with cultural experience as I have come across many people that have challenges in life and in their relationships but are not forth coming about it. It therefore influenced my thinking especially in terms of being sincere and determined in whatever I
