Gun violence has been a discussed problem since many years. It has caused deaths in many areas. Even though the violence have terrorized families and have caused the incrase of the homicide rates, the U.S have not really taken the proper steps to reduce gun violence and that has left the shooters unpunished and has caused many deaths. The government should take appropriate steps and measures to control the violence caused by guns and assault weapons. Some of them include background check, prohibition of assault weapons, and train public school staff members with a gun. Deaths that invovle gun violence will never decrease until the government enforces background checking of the prospective gun owner. The proposal that got
The U.S has the most homicide rates compared to most of our developed countries. For instance, gun violence that linked to mass shootings of first graders in Newton, Connecticut, of county workers in San Bernardino, California, and nightclub patrons in Orlando:The killers used assault weapons to execute their deadly act. Such weapons are sharp, quick, perfect for man slaughter if used with high capacity magazines. It is also very cheap that also leads to killers trying to buy these kinds of weapons. Assault weapons were once banned in 1994 and the killing rates decreased drastically. The law abiders and hunters were still able to protect themselves and hunt. Mass shootings still did not end but the crimes due to assault weapons were gradually reduced because of the ban of assault weapons. However gun makers found loopholes in the 1994 law , tweaked their product and sold the modified version of gun. This law needs to be more stricter in order to explicitly ban hundreds of hunting rifles, shotguns and assault weapons to surrender to the military for war purposes. The buy back of weapons by the government can significantly reduce the homicide rates and mass shootings in our
We need to continue creating new legislation to regulate gun laws. As previously pointed out, there are loopholes in our current set of laws that allow for people to bypass the background check system completely at times. We first must look into ways of upgrading our current existing laws to ensure problems like this don’t keep happening. After that, as has been discussed earlier and seen in other countries around the world, we must continue to pass gun legislation laws because it will help to reduce overall violent crimes in the country.
Enforcing an assault weapons ban can reduce the all-too-familiar occurrences of mass shooting and massacres. When Adam Lanza shot 26 people in Sandy Hook Elementary School..police say he largely relied upon a Bushmaster AR-15 "assault-type weapon," a semiautomatic rifle that could rapidly fire multiple high-velocity rounds. He was also equipped with magazines that held 30 bullets each (Plumer). As a chart from Princeton's Sam Wang shows, the number of people killed in mass shootings did go down in the years the [1994 Assault Weapons Ban] was in effect...and the number of mass shootings per year has doubled since the ban expired (Plumer). This statistic clearly shows the effectiveness of the ban passed by Congress and signed by former president Bill Clinton as part of the V...
Imagine, a person is sitting in their classroom in college. He or she is focused on listening to the teacher, because he or she needs to pass the final exam in order to graduate. All of a sudden, an intruder charges through the door. The intruder pulls out a gun and starts blasting bullets throughout the classroom. There is nowhere to run and there is no way to fight back. Everyone is hit and on the floor, bleeding. This person is so close to graduating and starting a new life. Now his life has been cut short, because there was someone who illegally brought a gun to a school. Because the school had a symbol of “no guns allowed”. Because the intruder knew there was no one else could shoot back. Now imagine if that student, dying on the floor,
middle of paper ... ... It is astonishing how the number of homicides, right after the 1997 gun control law took place, jumped drastically. This is just further evidence that strict gun laws will not protect people from violence. So even with all the shootings and random acts of violence, gun control laws should not happen because people will be safer with guns around.
Violence related to guns is a prominent issue in America. Guns are a means to an end; meaning guns have played a strong role in suicides, murders, and injuries. In the past decade there has been an average of 400-500 thousand incidents of firearms per year (Gun Violence). The number of injured people from firearm incidents in the United States per year for the past decade is 400-600 thousand people (Gun Violence). These statistics are absolutely shocking to anyone. The amount of violence and crime that comes from guns is enormous. It is imperative that proper gun control is put into place by means of background checks and proper training. It can almost be certain that the number of incidents of accidental discharges from children and the number of victims affected by gun crimes in general can be highly reduced.
Through two decades ago and in recent years gun violence has increased significantly in the various parts of the United States. There are more cases of children and young adults, engaging in violence. Gun violence leads to the death of many civilians annually. Gun violence touches every segment of our society. It increases the probability of deaths in incidents of domestic violence, raises the likelihood of fatalities by those who intend to injure others and among those who attempt to commit crimes. put children and young people at special risk, and disproportionately affect communities of color. Gun violence harmed all the society and it was a nightmare which produced a culture soaked in blood.
Gun control is both a crime issue, as well as a safety issue. It can range from moderate to extreme. Gun control goes as back as the 17th century where Japan was using guns for war making as to current tragedies occurring in schools. Guns have never disappeared, they have only multiplied in numbers to numerous amount of guns, ranging from small to big. Gun control isn't only a problem but it can also be solution depending on how it is being used and the person using it. Gun control can be controlled with many methods but in the end it matters how the person is going to use the weaponry.
Violence in the United States is a major problem, but our politicians only want to focus on gun violence, and some of them believe the solution to ending gun violence is by preventing law abiding citizens from exercising their second amendment rights. Guns are easier to commit a crime with than other weapons, or without a weapon at all, but with an estimated 270 million guns the hands of citizens (11 facts), if they were the problem we would know it by now. It is undeniable that guns are responsible for a high amount of crime, but we already have tens of thousands of gun laws in the United States (How many gun laws are there?), that haven’t been able to curb gun violence. If the current laws were working, then maybe there would be a reasonable
My subtopic was gun violence in schools “school shootings.” There have been many schools shooting and most of them had many innocent people dying because of one or two people who had committed these horrible crimes. There are many things that should be done to help innocent people from getting hurt and prevent this from happening again. One thing that should happen is to put guns away or just getting rid of them. People get guns many different ways as you may already know. Sometimes we would just want guns to vanish and everyone one to have peace in the world. Gun violence in schools occurs around the world not only in the United States. The news inform us about the many other countries that are attacked and children or students that have been killed because of terroirs groups. People aren’t safe now days in places that we should believe schools are safe. Many parents are nervous sending their children to school because of the different stories they hear about on the news and from others.
Gun violence can be solved with more restrictions, gun ownership, gun control and enforcement of gun laws. “Domestic violence assault with firearms are 12 times more likely to end in death than those without them” proved by research done by California General Task Force of Criminal Justice Response to Domestic Violence. Domestic Violence happens every day, and it can happen to anyone; in a situation such as this one, if a firearm is involved, there are more risks of something more severe or tragic happening. The” FBI reported 5% more increase in NICS checks (185,345) on Black Friday than last year” The Trace. Gun control and the amount of them being purchased by Americans is a reason to consider for what purpose. Another reason gun control should be more efficient and profound is "an online survey of 3,000 people Harvard's injury control research center found that 22% of Americans professed to own guns and 25% of those gun owners of the five or more weapons.” The center's director Dr. David Hemenway in October said that “guns in your hands might lower rates of guns to the side and accidental shootings, but the fact that these gun owners feel they must compile an arsenal raises another set of questions.” “Who are these people and why do they have so so many guns?” Hemenway asked. “And are they
If there was no gun control, then the rates of gun deaths might easily skyrocket. An example of why gun control is essential is when one considers the various instances of a mass shooting. Whenever gun related crimes happen, such as the shooting of cops, black people, or a mass shooting in schools, the country turns into national mourning, meaning that this has an effect on all Americans. The laws as they are now, and some of those that have been proposed, do not have sufficient guidelines in place to prevent such gun related deaths. Certainly, there is a need for more restrictive laws, and arguments for further restriction include societal needs, the increasing rates of the gun-related violence as well as death, questions of availability and
Background check systems are ineffective in preventing gun violence. Any adult can go to a gun show in the United States and buy a gun without and identification or passing
The issue of gun control has always been a hot topic among the American public. Most everyone, if asked, will tell you that gun control is an issue needed to be dealt with because of the event that took place at Columbine High School back on April 20th, 1999. The American public has been wrestling with gun control long before then. If we take a look back at August 1st, 1966 at the University of Texas, a man armed with a hunting rifle committed one of the most violent mass murders in history. Gun control refers to the Government placing restrictions on the American public to buy, own and sell firearms. If we read the constitution, our second amendment right is the right to bear arms. This has been the ongoing controversy of this issue. We the people say our constitutional right to buy and own firearms is being seized from us. The government is using our society’s violent incidents as cover to place restrictions and bans on firearms. This essay’s purpose is to provide proof that buying and owning firearms is our legal constitutional right and that our government is trying to attack the wrong angle when trying to fight crime involving guns in the United States.
Greetings Doctor Benjamin S. Carson, my name is Trevor Mangru. I have recently seen your Press Conference concerning your viewpoints on gun control, as well as how it is your belief that it could have prevented the Holocaust from taking place. Recently, gun control has been presented as a controversial topic all over the United States, as day by day, illegal weapons are being found. We are presented
What is gun control? Gun control is a law that regulates the sale, transfer, manufacture, possession, modification, and use of firearms. Over the years, gun control laws have gotten much stricter and more heavily enforced. These laws have started to take effect in hopes of limiting crimes, shootings, and many other gun related catastrophes. Despite its sole purpose to only do good, gun control has proven time and time again to be unsuccessful. Gun control laws actually leave the innocent defenseless, infringe upon the second amendment, are overall ineffective, and increases crime.
