Packing for College
Senior year flies by and decisions need to be made efficiently in order to succeed in the future. Next thing you know you are accepted in college, and it is moving day. But you have not packed yet. In order to pack successfully you need to pack about a week early. Knowing what to pack for college is hard, but here are 6 easy steps that will help. The first step is to get a quality packing list, which can be found on the web. Use this list just as a guide, because you might not need everything, so choose wisely. When you have your list, then you have to go through the process of elimination. Look around your room and see what you can take to college instead of buying brand new items. You need to stay organized and save as much money as possible. College is expensive so try to find ways to save money. I think it is good to shop once in a while but not always, because a lot of shopping may cause financial problems which could increase our stress rather than relieve. The author interviews a woman named Laura, she said “I am constantly suffering from megamall withdrawal. I come here all the time” (Guterson 105). Then her friend Kathleen replied, “It’s a sickness. It’s like a cocaine or something: It’s a drug and I need to be here” says Kathleen. This become as a shopaholic because for mall shopaholic, shopping triggers some part of their brain and make them feel happy and excited for making purchases. We buy a lot of things which we do not need then we just waste our money. I think we need to reduce buying things which is not important for us because we worked so hard to earn money and in a minute we could waste all the money. People should have more maturity. We need to think wisely, spend less and save more money for our future
In Tim O' Brian's, The Things They Carried, he talks about the Vietnam War and it's effects country. O' Brian uses the psychological approach to tell the sorrows of war . The things that they carried had all represented a part of each soldier. In the days of the Vietnam war, they did not expect a woman to fight in a war. The story is better understood because the reader knows the background of the story and the characters personality. The thought was just unacceptable and definitely not normal. The two methods of interpreting a story fused together brings about a great understanding of the characters and the event which is about to take place. The deceitful interpretations presented, the things they carried, and a transformation of a dainty girl that turns into a survivor are examples of each method presented.

Starting college life is far from difficult; in fact it is fun starting a new way of life. Life without the constant objections from your parents and annoyance from your little sibling is one of the many advantages you gain from college. Cancelled classes, late night parties and deleterious amounts of food make college enjoyable; however, this can lead to weight gain. “Freshman 15” is not a myth and although you may not be unfortunate enough to gain 15 pounds, you might gain some weight. To avoid gaining weight, freshmen should eat healthy, avoid alcohol, and maintain a positive moral.
As I thought of this article, many of the issues I have faced as a single Hmong woman in her mid-twenties came to mind. Should I discuss the functional reasons why marriage is so important in the Hmong culture, especially for women? Or do I talk about the lack of eligible, older Hmong men? Better yet, should I complain about the attempts by my relatives to find me a good husband as if it were an unfortunate circumstance that I was single instead of a conscious choice? Thinking it over, though, I decided that all those questions boiled down to one fundamental truth – the Hmong community is still trying to learn how to treat the increasing number of Hmong women who, like me, are making the choice to stay single in their mid-twenties.

I had to ask myself, “What’s next?” The only thing that I could think of was the rest of my life, and college would start the rest of my life.
