Paul Valery 's saying, "The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up", makes a comprehensive context for life in general. In particular, it fits my endeavors. Once, when I was eight, I dreamt that I found myself distributing medication in Africa. I thought to myself, "How did I get here?" I woke up, running into my mother 's room screaming, “Please, doesn’t send me to Africa! Please, I promise I will be good!" She consoled me and explained that this was my purpose in life--- to become a pharmacist and to help people. At that time, I did not know who a pharmacist was or what s/he did; all I knew was that I wanted to become one. I woke up at the age of eight, with a desire to embark on a journey to make this dream come true.
During my venture, there have been trying times, but I have always believed that you learn the most about yourself in times of hardship. Because of these events I realized that with determination, wherewithal, and focus, anything can be achieved …show more content…

There, I quickly became immersed in all aspects of pharmacy; from inventory management to medication compliance in addition to serving clients. I distinctly remember one affirming interaction that solidified my drive. A patient 's son came to the pharmacy just after leaving the emergency room. At first, everything seemed to be normal until we realized that the patient did not have any insurance and he would need to pay for the prescription. Knowing the importance of blood pressure medications, and being able to convey that to him; I offered several coverage options to acquire the medications and take care of his mother 's immediate need. I felt such satisfaction in knowing I helped someone in need. As I continued to work, I knew that this was the right place for me.
