America is the land of the free and the place of opportunities for everyone. Where the common man can life a comfortable lifestyle. A country that allow people to live a long, prosperous life. The red, white, blue that provides individuals to believe in their own religious, politics, and decided their own choices. The place that accept and respects various cultures, which has various customs. However, the ethnicity of people should be respected, too. Right now, America only recognized black people for their physically contributions such as fashion, music, art, but reject the race of black people.

In an excerpt of “The Woman in the Window”, Ramona Lowe shows that there is a racial discrimination toward African-Americans in America. The story focuses on Mrs. Jackson, an African-American who lives in the north, and the struggles she faces at her work place. She was hired to cook in front of a restaurant window dressing as a stereotypical “Southern mammy” (Lowe 3) to attract customers. While cooking in front of the restaurant window, Mrs. Jackson was laughed at by a group of white kids who called her “Aunt Jemima and nigger” (Lowe 3). Clearly, Mrs. Jackson was mistreated because the society she lives in ranks her race, Black, lower than her bosses', which is white. To create a successful project, Griffin had to leave his wife to be a temporary African American.  Being an African American brought him many unfair encounters.  However, after he changed back to a Caucasian, the attitude of everyone had immediately turned, and they treated him well.  Mr. Griffin felt bad, and he told everyone about his experiences by writing books and attending press interviews.  Throughout these hard times, one can read this book and find out the characteristics of the author, how he saw the light bulb, and the truth that he wanted people to understand.
