That alone should be motivation enough to at least persue an higher education. After serving six years in the military and becoming independent, you experience a sense of maturity that will make you stand out the long hall. For that exact reason, ive sent goals in my life now, 5 years from now and even a decade from this point. The most important goal I will have to say is “ Continuing to mature mentally and be the best I can be”. Setting goals can be challenging because you have to make them realistic and reachable or else youre going to demotivate yourself. To become an business owner involves critical thinking skills, being ethical worthy, reaching out to the community, integrity and self-service. “The world of business is changing, and new challenges are emerging. We need to adapt to those changing circumstances and consider new models and new structures, if we are to keep pace with the changes” (Witzel, 2013). As stated by Witzel, the business world is evolving and need to consider new models and structure which involves catching up to spped with business now and collecting all the information you’ve learn in school and
Let’s face it, some people learn in high school and others, well, have to learn to learn. Some of us need to experience the beast of real life before we truly understand the importance of education. Liz Addison wasn’t a scholar by a country mile in her youth. She touches on this in her article “Two Years Are Better Than Four” as she states, “On a score of one, I left school hurriedly at sixteen.” It wasn’t until later in life that she understood the importance of academics. Community college was there when she came calling like a farmer’s dependable workhorse. Community colleges are where the rubber meets the
Apart from the promise of a higher salary, college offers numerous benefits to students who participate in the academic experience. One such benefit is the development of self-discipline, which is crucial in post-college life. High school education tends to be more lenient, whereas college education allows individuals to mature and grow. As a result, they learn to prioritize their lives. Additionally, a higher level of education enhances one's application and sets them apart from those without a college degree.
Sometimes students question themselves if college is really worth it? That question has many answers that only a student can answer and decide for him or herself. For some students college can have a positive, life-long outcome. However, there are many obstacles when it comes to college. A student has to be very dedicated in school, and they have to know how to manage their personal life, school and work. College seems like it has more negative effects than it does positive for some people. For the following reasons college is not worth the cost because it is very difficult to find jobs after graduating or they find a job that is not in their field, some students who are not academically prepared wind up dropping out of school and wasting their money and some students struggle to balance school life, personal life and work life. As a result these students end up dropping out of school.
Learning is always worth it. Learning never stops as one grows older, but learning in school becomes beneficial. There are numerous people who do not like to have non-meaningful conversations with others. They crave intellectual conversations. Attending a university increases the intellectual mind and the students learn to think and act more productively. In return, they come in contact with other intellectual people and they are able to share ideas and work on beneficial
In my humble opinion, higher education institutions, change the world for the better, helping people to be encouraged, and more optimistic about life in general. As a person from an uneducated family, an education beyond high school has always been just a dream until now. As a whole, in the United States, higher education is seen as a necessity for most people to be successful, to be gained through university as apposed to self-taught. According to the president of Harvard, Drew Gilpin Faust, "Higher education generates broader economic growth as well as individual success." (Faust, 2010). Providing students with the knowledge to have a successful career, is not the only accomplishment of higher education, it also enables students to see the world with more clarity and understanding. Therefore, creating a more dynamic and open
Many issues and problems emerge in organizations that require action by leadership in order to maximize productivity. Because numerous decisions are made on any given day in an attempt for a school or organization to operate as smoothly as possible, constant effort and energy is required to monitor an organization’s culture. A problematic situation in my current organization that is rooted in employee motivation and attitudes is the lack of satisfaction communicated by group members. A year ago, the organization participated in a culture assessment that was conducted by the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA). This audit was ordered by our executive director because of the displeasure and dissatisfaction employees were communicating and displaying while at work. The
Motivation is defined as the process that initiates, guides and maintains goal-oriented behaviours. Motivation is what causes us to act, whether it is getting a glass of water to reduce thirst or reading a book to gain knowledge. Goal Setting is where we set specific targets aims that we wish to achieve, they need to be S.M.A.R.T or else they become dreams rather than believable goals. .
Throughout my life, I have heard that having a degree is having an expensive piece of paper. Actually listening to these words, to me, its saying they have the literary knowledge of a specific field; and that is much more than an expensive piece of paper. My motivation comes from every situation I have been through, struggling to realize that I do want a degree. As of now, my job title is an accounting clerk, I did happen to stumble into this career, I would be lying if I said otherwise. Being in this position for almost three years has helped me grow professionally and personally. I did not have any background in the accounting department, so every day I learn something new, because every day I am intrigued on how the accounting system works.
I am a stern believer that education goes beyond high school. Not only does it apply to college but throughout life. As a child whose parents were unable to attend college I feel privileged with the opportunity. There was no question that I'd be enrolling in college after high school graduation. This experience will enable me to obtain the two things that I think are most important in my college career. That is to gain knowledge of the people and world around me, and become a critical thinker so that I am able to analyze any situation. The purpose of a college writing course to me is to help do both. I have realized that those are the two most important in that if you have the knowledge and thinking ability then you are open to learn. From elementary school forth I have practiced perfecting my English, as if it's not my native language.
Out of everything that we 've learned this quarter, goal setting was something that stood out to me. There are a few times where I set a goal in my head but end up never achieving them, wether it was something very simple or more of a long term goal. A technique that stood out to me in our notes is, writing down your goals. I don 't I 've ever written down a single goal that I 've had. In class and in our notes we talked about how it is important to write down your goals and how you cannot just write the general idea of your goal, but how you need to be very specific in what it is you want to achieve. I think that in college it 's very important to set long, mid, and short term goals because somedays will be harder than others and you need
Many people tend to set goals. They can set goals for their personal life, academics, or even for their professional lives. You can literally set a goal for pretty much anything you can imagine. I believe that people should set goals, they help you stay focused and want to do better for the future. Goals change all of the time though, because of a lot of different reasons, maybe you found that one thing just really is not what you want to do with your life, so you find something else to do. To me that is just how life is, my goals will most likely change as I am getting older and trying to find what I want to do with the rest of my life.
My first year at UNT will be a new chapter in my life I’m prepared to embark. I hold both ambiguous and positive expectations of college and the UNT campus. Early college high school has prepared me for many aspects of college, but there are also many things I have yet to learn. There will be new and familiar experiences, but I understand that the challenges I will face are to prepare me for my future success in life and career.
As the late Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” When it comes to the topic of higher education and if it is worthwhile, strong opinions come into play. Many people believe that higher education is valuable because there are undeniable benefits from the time put forth in college and beyond. On the other hand, some people also believe that college is not for everyone, and all career paths do not require a college degree. Higher education is a valuable tool from which the benefits can been seen in future salaries, personal growth, and in opportunities that arise.
Achieving any goal requires self-discipline. It involves a conscious awareness of our actions and the ability to overcome some of the bad habits that might be holding us. Instilling self- discipline into our lives is not easy task.
When planning for our future it is important to have clear goals in mind and to understand the steps that need to be taken to achieve those goals. My long-term goal is to run my own counseling center and employee at least one other person. Some Skills I already possess that will allow me to succeed with this plan are my ability to relate to people and be consistent in following the steps needed, even though it will be a long and tedious process.
