A set of three pictures are hung in my living room, each frame contains a picture of me at two years old smiling and giggling with my young parents in the backyard of our house. These three pictures are hung above another smaller one of myself at six and my siblings, Grace age three and Willie newborn, smooshed onto a couch. These four pictures describe my childhood and my family. I grew up very privileged, both my parents love each other very much, I have a yellow house with a big yard, I always have had a large group of family friends to play with and I have lived a tragedy free life. I guess that is not very exciting. My mother’s scrapbooks are filled with bright images of playdates on the beach, potty training, halloween parties, long island …show more content…
We blew up the kiddie pool and went night swimming, then ate a sleepover birthday cake, with tiny nilla wafer version of myself and my friends faces sleeping in twinkie sleeping bags. We slept in a tent in my living room that night and I exclaimed that I was going to stay up till 100 o’clock. One story that is the epitome of my family dynamic is when my sister almost burned down our house. I was about nine my sister was six and my little brother was three. My sister had been playing with a ball inside the house and she ended up knocking a burning candle off of the mantel, the candle fell and a large teddy bear under the mantel caught flame, my parents quickly noticed and put out the fire and the teddy bear was ruined with pumpkin smelling wax matting its fur. My mom proceeded to yell at my sister, and my dad proceeded to tell my mom to stop yelling at my sister, which turned into a fight between my parents. My parents love each other so much most of their fighting is because they hate not being on the same …show more content…
I believe that people should always strive to grow and change for the better, as a song I really like goes, “the word for not changing is dead.” I believe that humans are inherently good, and that ignorance, greed and violence can change that for the worst. I believe that human compassion and empathy are one of the most valueable and amazing traits. I believe that all humans deserve respect and care and love unless they have committed an act against those claims. I believe that the only sure thing is death. I also believe I will do well in this class, as I find humans to be the most interesting creatures on this
My Family Case Study will examine the ‘Nguyen’ family and their current struggle with family finances. I will present the family, their history, and their response to the challenge of dealing with the crisis related to the family finances.
Happiness; was all people can see in the smiles. Two elders were sitting in the middle, smiling as if they were the spotlights of their talent show, they looked proud. The three kids were sitting on their laps, giggling and goofing around. The 2.5” x 3.5” picture was a picture of my beloved grandparents, my little cousin, my older brother, and me. I was sitting on Gonggong’s left leg, I remembered holding Gonggong’s (my grandfather) left hand, I tightened my grip as if it has been my favorite stuffed animal. I remembered feeling his ring on his middle finger, I remembered feeling the wrinkles on the surface of his arm. His arms were huge and strong. On my Popo’s side (my grandmother) was Long-Long (my little cousin), who was only two years old, she tried to crawl out of Popo’s arms. Long-Long hated pictures, her facial expression showed impatience and anger. In the middle between the two of us was Hok Lun (my older brother), who was about seven years old, he sat still as if he was a soldier. His tummy was surrounded by Gonggong’s right arm. Snap, the 2.5” x 3.5” picture was taken. I have kept that picture in my wallet ever
On that fateful day in March, I was a couple months shy of my third birthday. My family and I lived in New Mexico at the time and were renting a house with an outdoor in-ground pool. The day was beautiful. I was outside with my oldest sister Rachel and my father. Rachel was diligently reading curled up on a bench that sat against the house, and my father was mowing the backyard. My mother and my other sister were in the house. Off to one side of the house there was a group of large bushes. I was playing over there with one of her large cooking pots, off in my own little world. At one point while amusing and en...
The unit of a family is the most prominent essential for all of us. As social human beings, we seek social support in order to thrive, and that is where family comes into play. A family is where you receive love, support, encouragement, and many other social benefits. The total number of households in the United States increased from 63 million in 1970 to 113 million in 2008 (Weeks, 2012). The family has influenced multitudes of people in many ways. The traditional family in the United States consists two-married individuals providing care and stability for their biological offspring also know as the nuclear family. However, the term of a true family has ultimately changed over the last 50 years especially for African Americans.
This house has a unique brick color, a sort of pink and green. An uphill driveway leading to two small one car garages, one garage filled with years of a mixture of items and the other holds my grandma’s car and two of her fridges cram packed with stew of components. The side walk leads to a screen door, which is always locked, and a large think wood door which is cracked. When I walk in I smell flowers and sweets, then I feel the cold tile tough my feet only for a moment until the fluffy carpet is met with your feet. One of my favorite things is when I walk in I see my grandmas smiling face, she is always so happy and it just warms my heart to see her. Any time I see her house or think about it the warmth of her hugs and smiling face overwhelms me no matter how mad or sad I am I always smile. In the back corner of the house is the bed room converted to a game room, where all the kid’s toys are located. That’s where I would sleep when I stayed there. The kitchen is tiny but perfect for just one little perfect person. It has an electric stove top with four burners and a typical oven below. Next to that is her fridge stocked with her diet cokes with a freezer on top and a microwave
Family, a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household. Although family is a concretely defined term, the idea of family varies from person to person. But, what makes a family? For those who are surrounded by loving blood relatives, for those who have never known the one to grant them life, for those who have left their blood behind for a more loving and nurturing environment, what can commonly define a family? Family is something defined by the individual. Family includes those who you have come to love, whether platonically or romantically, those you have suffered with, those you have come to respect, and most importantly those you have cared for and in turn have cared for you. To one that could mean people who
As a child, family was very important to me. My parents made it very clear that the people in your family are the people that are going to be on your side for the rest of your life. My parents were young when they had me so they needed some extra help. Although they did everything in their power to make sure their work schedules were set so that somebody would always be at home to watch me, that just wasn 't always possible. When in doubt, my granny would always come through. I began to build a very strong bond with her being that she was one of my main care takers. Over the years my parents started to figure things out so they no longer needed grannies help. But this is not what I wanted. Instead of
There was no lawn, but there were four flower planters. The house was painted all white, with the exception of the front door that was painted light green. My grandfather was still young, strong, and full of life, he always had time to play with his grandchildren. Every Sunday he would take us to the park, would buy us ice cream, and take us to Sunday mass. On the day when this picture was taken, we were celebrating my 10th birthday, and I was dancing with my grandfather. I cannot remember the song, but I do remember what he told me while dancing slowly. He said “My little girl” how he used to call me,” in five years you won’t be a little girl, you will become a young lady.” At that moment I could not understand what he meant, but in my mind I was saying “grandpa I will always be your little girl.” While dancing, he made me a promise, “My little girl on your 15th birthday, I will dance the first song with you.” Who would know that he was going to die on my 15th birthday year, he passed away on June 21th, 1987 on Father’s Day. He left me with so many beautiful memories, but the most important was my first dance on my 10th birthday. On the night before my 15th birthday, I went to bed around 10 p.m. I was feeling depressed, because I was only thinking of the promise that my grandfather had made in the past. A promise that in my mind was not going to
Have you ever been influenced by some important person that helped you be the person that you are today? I have been. The people that have had influence on me are the most important humans beings, my family. But before I begin talking about my family, I want to describe to you the place that we spend most of the time together which also means something important to me and my family. This place is called the family room. This room is small but cozy. It is painted in white and has three windows decorated with beautiful curtains. By the windows you can appreciate a nice view of some beautiful trees and a nice pool. On the walls there are some family photos like the ones that show where my brothers and I were born, my graduation photo, some family members photos like my grandparents, and some paintings made by one of my brothers. Also inside this room there is a nice home theater that includes a nice stereo and TV, and a new compact computer. But this is not all, this room has some very comfortable furniture and I can say that they are comfortable because I use them to watch TV, a movie, or just sit and rest. Also the furniture is used by my brothers to sit and play nitendo, to study, or play with the computer. But from all this furniture there is one chair that is the most cozy chair that I have ever sat upon and that is my father's chair. So this is our room, which is very important to us and has a lot of special things, but the most special part of this room is when it brings my family together.
How can a simple six letter word be so complicated to define? Family is a single word that is open to many interpretations depending on the individual. If you try to condense this ideal to a single clinical definition you end up excluding numerous members of society. What comes to mind when you think of the word family? While in the most broken down and literal sense, family means a relative with a blood or legal bond, the word family can encompass blood relations, adoptions, and even intentional relationships such as friendships. Economies, cultures, and backgrounds can further differentiate what one’s perception of a family is. For many people, including me, a family is so much more. It is the amount of commitment, cohesiveness, and importance
It was on a Friday morning at 4:30 A.M. that happiness and joy filled the hearts of both my parents. I was born on November 29, 1996 at Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale Florida. My parents had five children, and among the five children that they had, I was the third (or middle) child from them. It started off as two boys, then I came along as the first girl, after it was another boy, then finally, another baby girl; so total was three boys and two girls. The way that my parents lived and treated each other was the same as if any other married couple that loved each other so much. They’ve gone through a lot to get to where they are now today, but they made it and along the way had us five children. They have been really strong with each other which made them only have the five of us and no other step children. My mom is a great cook and enjoy cooking for us; this is probably where my passion for culinary comes from. My dad is an amazing tailor, he is very good at making our clothes, and my passion for fashion probably came from him. My dad is also a teacher, one of the best math teacher I know, he is passionate about his job and his family is the center of his universe. I cannot finish this chapter without mentioning my grandmother, I was lucky enough to have ever met. I had spent part of my life time with her, like the rest of the family she is sweet, my grandmother Abelus,
There are many things to love in life. Family and friends, pets and even hobbies can be loved. While I personally believe that love is a very strong word, I do have things I love. Please join me in learning more about myself as I explain why family and friends have a special place in my heart.
There are so many different types of family relationships. Whatever form a family takes; it is an important part of everyone’s life. My family has played an important role in my life. Good family relationships serve as a foundation to interactions with others. Supportive families will help children to thrive. The quality of the family relationship is more important than the size of the family. Making the relationships priority, communication, and providing support for one another is key to developing relationships. Family relationships are what make up our world today; they shape the ways that we see things and the ways that we do things.
After writing about my history and the themes I selected, I have learned a lot about who I am in society. I have realized that I am an average girl that has not experienced much of life. During this analysis I have come to realize I have not had much contact with other family types or other cultures.
