Build Your Self-Esteem
In the last lesson, we looked at how negative experiences in your past can affect your self-concept. Self-esteem isn’t quite the same as your self-concept, but they are related.
Your self-concept is your perception of yourself.
Your self-esteem is a measure of how happy you are with yourself.
Increase one, you can increase the other.
Today, we’ll look at building your self-esteem.
It’s easier to be authentic to others when we feel good about ourselves.
Give your self-esteem a boost and think highly of yourself:
1. Guarantee success: start small. Success breeds confidence and self-esteem. Create small successes in your life. Drink water instead of soda at lunch. Pay all your bills on time this month. Any little thing that would make you feel good about yourself is a great place to start.

Observe your thoughts. If you pay attention to your thoughts, you’ll be both amazed and horrified. It’s amazing how your mind jumps around to different topics and the crazy things it says. If a real person acted in the same way, you’d call the people in the white coats to come make a pick-up.

9. Create a list of affirmations. Make a list of affirmations that you’d like to believe and keep it handy. Whenever you mind is idle, repeat your affirmations to yourself. When you’re not busy, your mind will start chattering. Take control of the chatter and keep it positive.
10. Remember your greatness. You’ve accomplished some impressive things. Make a list of everything you’ve managed to do in your life up to this point. It’s easy to forget how far you’ve come. Make a list and review it often.
11. Learn something new. Children are so proud of themselves when they learn new something new. It might not be as obvious to us as adults, but we experience the same phenomenon. Learn how to bake a cake from scratch or how to hit a golf ball. What interests you? Try to learn a new skill each
Self-esteem becomes the visualization of one’s value as a person. It develops over the sequence of a person 's life. Beliefs about self are based on the experiences throughout one’s life. These experiences have given messages about the type of person someone will become. A number of situations can negatively affect a person’s self-esteem. Negative experiences create negative beliefs. Visual, aural, or experienced events in one’s family, the wider community and school have influenced the views of a person. Occasionally, negative beliefs about self can occur while being bullied, abusive relationships, stress or hardships, or traumatic events. While it does not matter if female, male or even a child, low self-esteem can attach itself to any person
Do you know who Phoebe Prince is? Do you know what she did? Do you know what her peers did to her? Phoebe Prince is a fifteen year old girl who committed suicide on January 14 of 2010. Phoebe Prince was bullied every day for three months. Her peers caused her to have such as low self esteem and low self image that she committed suicide. Seven out of ten girls in the United States suffer from low self esteem, which can lead to mental problems, suicide, and many poor life choices. Teen girls should take a class on raising self esteem because low self esteem affects girls negatively, most self esteem issues are family related, and there are much recourse to help girls.
How it works: Carve out some alone time, either on a walk or sitting quietly somewhere, and start to list our all the blessings you have. For each item you think about, sit with it for a while and really consider how blessed you are to have the things that you have.
Self-Image: This is one of the major setbacks for the fear of success with people because they would not see themselves as being successful. The best way to build up your child’s positive self esteem and self value is to show them your positive sense of self and strong self esteem. I frequently think about the effects of words on the healing body and mind. One of the things that I focus on in my therapeutic pursuits is "positive self talk," wherein I try to take those automatic negative statements my brain tosses out and change the dialogue to something more productive.

Putting my mind to it will help motivate me on my journey to success. As you go through your day and start to lose focus, remind yourself of the importance of focus. For instance, remind yourself how important it is to focus on your loved ones and have deep and meaningful conversations with them. Or remind yourself of the rewards you will get from finishing a task quickly. If you can create reasons that being focused will be more pleasurable than not being focused, you will be more likely to stay focused and reap the rewards.
How often do you talk to yourself? A famous proverb says that when people talk to themselves, they are usually intelligent people. What does self-talk mean? Well, it means that you think loudly to yourself. There are many people who often talk to themselves because they usually think that it is the best way to remember what they have to do. Speaking as a student, students always talk with themselves; although when you see them, you feel like they have a discussion or conversation with somebody instead of themselves because they are talking so loudly. People always say be confident, but opposed it. I believe being overconfident leads to arrogant attitude, which ultimately leads to failure. One time I had been too confident in my own ability that leads me to one of my failing experience: academic grade. This failing experience dwindled my self-confident and self-esteem that would still affect me today.
