Americans seem to be proud to be able to say “The Pledge of Allegiance” since they appreciate how valuable the nation is in every way. They make the time to thank the beloved veterans. As true Americans, one celebrate their national independence and thank God for blessing this country the way that he has. Americans intend their best to donate back to their nation. “And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what the country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” In this quote, John F Kennedy says: as an American, one gives back. It can be from serving in the army, to being a school teacher or volunteering at the soup kitchen on the weekends. It can be anything that will make an effort the nation prosper. A Methodist church serves food every Wednesday for free to anyone who comes in. They serve around one hundred plates of food each week. That’s one hundred people that was given a meal that could have died that day of starvation, and fortunately, they didn’t. There is a multitude of different ways people can award back. Civilians can also support one another by keeping a positive attitude in a difficult
To be an American is to be proud of your flag and country, to be willing to suffer for America, and to never be willing to give up.
“I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” As Americans, we say this to honor our state and because we are proud of what we as a citizen of America have done to make it the America that is today. Americans weren’t the only ones that helped; veterans were a big part of the success that made our country the America that I believe in.
Have you ever been stripped of your heritage and treated like a foreigner in your own homeland? Hopefully not, but if you’re a Mexican American citizen then you may have an idea of what it’s like to be treated in such a manner. For many years, what is now considered to be the Southwest United States, was owned and inhabited my Mexican citizens. These people had lived on this land for generations, many making a living raising cattle and cultivating the land. However, due to Mexico’s loss in a in the Mexican American War, the country was forced to give approximately half of its land to the United States. According to the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, the inhabitants of the newly acquired land were to become citizens of the United States, and were
While being an American offers numerous benefits, it also brings with it certain imperative responsibilities. It is your duty to demonstrate your commitment to your country
To be an American means more than just living in the country for a set amount of years. It means more than being granted citizenship, and more than just waving a Boy Scout American flag in your yard on Memorial Day. To be an American is to be free, and that is what we as Americans sometimes take for granted and forget. Being an American isn 't just living in the "greatest country in the world", there are plenty of other countries that say the same exact things. There are far less countries in this world, though, that are free, and have the American mindset. Not many countries employ so many freedoms and have the 'American dream '. The American mindset is not just something that
Immigration is the greatest part of American history. In the beginning, Immigrants brought a vast variety of cultures and beliefs and turned America in to the beauty it is today. Immigrants are still doing this. However, the issue with immigration can be it 's illegal status. Many undocumented immigrants are entering this country causing questions among the American citizens. Rather than asking if this is right or wrong, a solution can be found. Illegal immigrants come here for a purpose and can be helped with this purpose. Most come fleeing persecution, although some come here for more demented reasons. Those, illegal immigrants will be done away with. However, Those immigrants who come here for pure reasons need to be taken Care of in proper
The patriots are the best team in the NFL. I have been a fan for my entire life and I believe everyone should be too. Here are 3 reasons why I think everyone should be a fan. One, they’re on their way to their 6th Super Bowl Win, two they have the best quarterback of all time, and finally they have one of the best coaches of all time.
It’s no secret that everyone in the world is born into a system of rules, norms, and everything in between. There is a constant cycle of life and death, with the expectations of the bodies we are born in building and acting around others and the expectations to help promote a society farther. The problem that we as humans are constantly coming to, though, is who exactly is in power and what makes up that power. Is there a duty that one owes to their nation in the way that they act or is it their own life to lead? Are humans living for themselves or for the promotion of something more? There has been a progression of time, changing to adapt the needs of the majority being executed whether or not it is beneficial to the minority. What it means
First off, let’s just start by saying within the confines of the United States illegal immigration is not really illegal due to many different factors. Currently in the United States illegal immigrants receive healthcare, social security, unemployment and other forms of benefits provided by the US government “for its people”, which are funded by the citizens of the United States through their tax dollars but illegal immigrants do not pay taxes, they simply collect and piggyback off the rest of us. Not only that though with the increase of illegal immigrants comes an increase in the unemployment rate, the amount of illegal immigrants coming over each year, and taxes as we must pay for people that don’t belong here. If you were to trespass in a foreign country for instance let’s say Russia as soon as you step foot on their soil you’re “banned from the country for 10 years and you can receive up to a six month prison
The United States of America was founded by and for immigrants who were searching for freedom. It has become the land of opportunity, the home of the free, and a place where you can experience the American dream. Moreover, each year whether it is voluntary or not, thousands of people will immigrate to the U.S in hope of a better tomorrow, leaving behind their families, homes and identities. Nevertheless, the journey is not always easy, most of the time these immigrants have to face many obstacles in order to come into the United States. Many will die before they even reach their destination and even if they do make it, they are looking into a future filled with struggles due to being undocumented, and are forced to live each day with the fear of being caught. Moreover, if the U.S can provide amnesty to undocumented people and regulate the laws in regards to immigration we can
The biggest terrorist attack in American history occurred on September 11, 2001. The Islamic al-Qaeda group hijacked four airliners in the United States. Two planes crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City, a third struck the Pentagon, and the fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 people were killed including over 400 police officers and firefighters. America's view on the world and Muslims all over, forever changed. Muslims are judged and criticized still today after these events. Muslim Americans after 9/11 should have a right to live freely in America, can help us stop Islamic terrorism, and can increase unity with American citizens and the communities.
These immigrants could have these jobs back in their native country which requires very high intense labor and could be paid what is considered 100 dollars here. They come here because they know that wages here are much better than what is earned back home. Being in a land in which most of them do not speak English but are still out there getting jobs. Immigrants do not come here to commit crimes. They do everything to have a better life, even if that means working two jobs to sustain a middle class life in America. This drive is key in understanding why America needs immigrants in order to be great again. The current immigration policy also locks out high-skilled workers such as engineers, doctors, and entrepreneurs. The United States invests
Illegal immigrants are makers, not takers. Many American citizens see these approximate 11 million illegal immigrants in a negative view and don’t want them living in their communities. However, many of these American citizens don’t know why illegal immigrants come here and what good they actually do to this country. Illegal immigration should be allowed because their quality of life is improved, they help the economy, and they bring job growth.
I should receive a passing grade in this class because I can write now. Not just an exaggeration, but after another semester of English I finally feel confident that can write. Three of the reasons behind my confidence is I learned, I experienced and best of all I repeated. These three values helped prepare me for what is in store in English 1302 and here is why.
Immigration, the leaving of one 's homeland to build a life in another country, was not a new concept by the late 1800s. Foreigners had been leaving their homelands for the United States for decades before. Since then Immigration has been a major issue in the United States. This phenomenon is not new and thousands of illegal immigrants have come into United States through either the Mexican border, the Pacific Ocean, and through many other ways. However, some of the immigrants are undocumented, they should be allowed to stay in the United State because of some reasons such as, religious freedom, another one would be opportunity, and run to seek shelter.
