Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas directed by Ron Howard, came out on November 8, 2000. This children’s literature Christmas movie happens to tell a valuable story. Although, it may seem a little intmidating for children, it all goes into the wonderful meaning of this film. The original How the Grinch Stole Christmas came out in 1966. Ron Howard did his best to make a magical remake. I recommend that all families watch this movie during the holiday season to remind themselves of the true meaning of Christmas.

It is a family movie which includes humor for all ages. Jim Carey puts on a great performance as the Grinch, who he portrays as an eccentric, creative, and eerie character. His funny personality and mannerisms really is what made his character so great. All the other actors and actresses did a great job of portraying their characters living a regular, everyday life. Even with the touches of nightmarish scenes, this feel-good film took a different approach on Christmas, a good one.
This movie was a remake of the original twenty-two-minute cartoon. Ron Howard did a great job of turning it into an hour and forty-five-minute production. This movie was not boring or dragged out. The casting director took time and noticeably sought after to find suitable
actors and actresses to portray the characters. In this version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, director, Ron Howard explained how the Grinch arrived in Whoville and explained why the Grinch disliked Christmas as much as he did. That was not explained in the original version, which caused confusion. The best part about this movie is the message they are trying to deliver. Lou Lou Who (Bill Irwin) said it best, “you can’t hurt Christmas, Mr. Mayor because Christmas is not about the gifts, the contests, or the fancy lights.” We tend to forget the true meaning of Christmas and do not fully understand what it really is about.
