'How The Grinch Stole Christmas'

If I had to choose a favorite character I would have to say, The Grinch from the movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. The Unique actor who plays the Grinch is the one and only Jim Carrey. In most of Carrey’s movies, he plays the role of a strange individual which went along great with the role of the Grinch. The Grinch is a cold hearted, mean, and naughty person, but in the end, there was an ending no one would have expected.

To begin with, the setting takes place in the town of Whoville where everyone is filled with joy and cheer. The residents of Whoville gather their decorations and wear their best clothing for the preparation of Christmas which is the theme. The story is told in third person point of view as the narrator describes The Grinch. The narrator

states “No one quite knows the reason.

It could be his head wasn’t screwed in just right. It could be perhaps, that his shoes were too tight. But I think that the most likely reason of all may have been that his heart was two sizes too small.” This was his Internal conflict. The antagonist Is Christmas. He hates Christmas and everything that revolves around the holiday. He is also the protagonist because he is the main character. He shows character vs society by exiling himself from the people of Whoville; He also lives on top of a mountain with his dog named Max. He also shows character vs character because he is not that big on social interaction. When the Grinch went down to the town of Whoville just to cause chaos such as mixing up the resident’s mail or giving children a saw as a present, he had to wear a costume and a mask so the residents would not recognize him. The dramatic irony kept me on the edge of my seat; the audience knows that the Grinch wants to ruin Christmas for the people

of Whoville but the people of Whoville do not know this yet. The Grinch had an external conflict by stealing Christmas and later realizing that he was wrong. He ended up wanting to save Christmas. Shockingly the Grinch was a dynamic character. In the beginning of the movie, the Grinch hated Christmas, he was rude, and snarly, but towards the end of the movie, he became caring and giving. The Grinch also turned out to like Christmas.
On the dot, The Grinch is my favorite character from the movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” played by Jim Carrey. Even though the Grinch in the beginning was overall not a nice person he was able to change and he became a good civilian like the rest of the residents in Whoville. Also, the people of Whoville were able to accept him after he saved Christmas and everyone held hands to sing Christmas carols alongside the Grinch.
