People tend to tell stories and notify others about the life events that is happening in someone’s life. Storytelling is instinctive to human whether it is genuine or unreal, the way people communicate or share these stories with others has changed over time and through time, there was then a shift to words formed into narratives (Mendoza, 2015). Mendoza (2015) also emphasized that due to the use of advancing technologies such as the printing press, the camera and the internet and its social media platforms, the way people tell others stories and keep themselves informed about current topics and make them relate to the story has transformed to a more embracing experience. An increase in the usage of mobile phones and the internet in Kenya and Nigeria making the reach of the African writers wider and more accessible has also been discovered (Adenekan, 2014). Earlier research engages with poetry, stories and other works of fiction, while another study focuses on blogging. wherein it is a new way of telling stories and is considered the most feasible and accessible form for such an activity (Bryan Alexander, 2011). However, unlike the traditional way of telling stories which usually involves texts alone, Alexander (2011) discusses that blogs may also contain images, videos, and music to enrich the storytelling experience. These notions are supported by Ohler (2009) who emphasizes the transformation of the internet from something that is just “read-only” to something that is “write-possible.” The study involves the creation of blogfolios under supervision nby several students and, similar to Alexander’s study, it was found out that photo, video, etc. help in self-expression in different website (Ohler,
Clive Thompson is a journalist, blogger and writer. He mainly focuses his writing on science and technology but this one chapter from his book Smarter than you think, “Public thinking,” has put a spin on writing and technology. Multiple times he talks about writing in many different forms. For example, he speaks of writing on blogs, on internet short stories (or fan fiction novels), in schools, in studies, and even on a regular basis. Thomson is trying to explain to his readers how writing, and the sharing of information across the internet, is beneficial to our society and ones well-being. In my readings of Thompson’s excerpt, I will examine Thomson’s examples and show how they are relevant and that it is beneficial.
1. Growing up we all heard stories. Different types of stories, some so realistic, we cling onto them farther into our lives. Stories let us see and even feel the world in different prespectives, and this is becuase of the writter or story teller. We learn, survive and entertain our selves using past experiences, which are in present shared as stories. This is why Roger Rosenblatt said, "We are a narrative species."
In The Power of Writing by Joel Swerdlow, we are presented to the importance of writing to our civilization. Throughout the years written information has emerged as a primary method of communication. Individuals use whatever is available to write to convey their message. Early forms of writing include carving symbols in stone and bone, written leaves, silk, papyrus, parchment and paper. At the present time writing is used in many settings; for example we have books, text messages, online blogs, lyrics, street signs and emails. There are no limits to written information, and most importantly it can be preserved indefinitely. Writing helps me communicate to others, my identity, creativity and imagination. Individually, I use writing to compose lyrics, write about my personal experiences and to connect with my family. In my opinion, writing is an important tool of communication in my personal and professional development, because it gives an insight of my individual ideas.

... the moment. A text becomes more heartfelt than a call or face-to-face interaction. This social change is caused by the materialization of innovation in the society, which in other words is the diffusion of innovations. The greater population of adolescents have easy access to these social media platforms and the number grows exponentially. Accordingly, the ability to capture the attention of younger generations is one of the essential strong points of oral stories being online. This publishes the words, and though many believe that it could mean having your thoughts no longer belong to you, I see it as a way to reach different people without having to speak to deaf ears; “Words are not objects to be wasted. They represent the accumulated knowledge, cultural values, the vision of an entire people or peoples” (Dickinson, Pp. 323, 1994). With this in mind the digitalization of these words allows it to reach the audience it needs the most without them being overused or forgotten. Through oral to written to digitalized words the stories told still hold similarities and oral traditions, throughout King’s speech uses repetition to tell his truths and ensures to use a circular method in his storytelling.
Technology today is more relied upon than ever before. If one needs to call someone half way around the world, simply take out a cell phone and dial their number. Within thirty seconds, one can be speaking to that person just as if two people were conversing face-to-face. In the same manner, one has access to endless knowledge and resources by the push of a few buttons or the click of a mouse. The use of social media today is becoming more prevalent than ever before because of the convenience it offers.
Storytelling evokes the emotion of all human beings through compelling tales of wonder, mystery, horror, and happiness. Through repetition of storytelling, storytelling enables a way of communication and the way of relating the past to future generations of listeners. Brought about by pain, inhumanity, and suffrage of their people. African-American writers sought to necessitate change throughout

The search for a free mind is one of the common motivations of many. Food, fellowship, self-discovery is all part of the messages shared on social media. For instance, in the YouTube video the narrator explains how there is no timeline when he was in the Camino. The simplicity of life was refreshing. Just like Drew’s story there are thousands of others wanting to share their story with the rest of the
In today’s world of ever-expanding technology, even the oldest generations alive today are aware of the surge of social media usage in recent years. The fast growth has brought about many social networks, such as Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram, but of all of the social media networks still thriving, this essay will discuss Twitter with an emphasis on how it has evolved, how it has influenced the world, and how it has managed to stay relevant over the years. According to Matthew Hudson at The Balance, social media is a “series of websites and applications designed to allow people to share content quickly, efficiently and in real-time” (Hudson, 2017). These networks can be accessed via smartphones, computers, tablets, and other relative devices
This "story" is about how my life is affected by technology, and so I got to thinking: What better way to explain this than to take you (the reader) on a journey through a typical day in my life? Here we go.
Society has over time, developed many means of communication starting with the word of mouth to writing letters, the telephone, and now the internet. The internet has developed its own form of communication, which is a social network. Social networks have created a way for people across the world to communicate with each other at the same time, all in one place, thus making it the internet the reason behind the revolution known as Social Network.
Social media is a controversy topic in today’s society. Some people think that social media destroys human interaction and real life human relationships. While others think that social media is a bless to humanity.
