People tend to tell stories and notify others about the life events that is happening in someone’s life. Storytelling is instinctive to human whether it is genuine or unreal, the way people communicate or share these stories with others has changed over time and through time, there was then a shift to words formed into narratives (Mendoza, 2015). Mendoza (2015) also emphasized that due to the use of advancing technologies such as the printing press, the camera and the internet and its social media platforms, the way people tell others stories and keep themselves informed about current topics and make them relate to the story has transformed to a more embracing experience. An increase in the usage of mobile phones and the internet in Kenya and Nigeria making the reach of the African writers wider and more accessible has also been discovered (Adenekan, 2014).
