How Physical Activity can Improve Overall Health and Personal Development Benefits Of Physical Activity The benefits of exercise extend far beyond weight management. Research shows that regular physical activity can help reduce your risk for several diseases and health conditions and improve your overall quality of life. Regular physical activity can help protect you from the following health problems. Heart Disease and Stroke Daily physical activity can help prevent heart disease and stroke by strengthening your heart muscle, lowering your blood pressure, raising your high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels (good cholesterol) and lowering low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels (bad cholesterol), improving blood flow, and increasing your heart's working capacity. Optimizing each of these factors can provide additional benefits of decreasing the risk for Peripheral Vascular Disease. High Blood Pressure Regular physical activity can reduce blood pressure in those with high blood pressure levels. Physical activity reduces body fat, which is associated with high blood pressure. Noninsulin-Dependent Diabetes By reducing body fat, physical activity can help to prevent and control this type of diabetes. Obesity Physical activity helps to reduce body fat by building or preserving muscle mass and improving the body's ability to use calories. When physical activity is combined with proper nutrition, it can help control weight and prevent obesity, a major risk factor for many diseases. Back Pain By increasing muscle strength and endurance and improving flexibility and posture, regular exercise helps to prevent back pain. Osteoporosis Regular weight-bearing exercise promotes bone formation and may prevent many forms of bone loss associated with aging. Disability Running and aerobic exercise have been shown to postpone the development of disability in older adults. Stress and anxiety management Exercise may serve as an effective tranquilizer. Studies in adults indicate that 30 min of aerobic exercise reduces muscle tension by as much as does a dose of 400 mg o... ... middle of paper ... ...low off steam’). • the stimulus-seeking theory (the excitement and thrills resulting from physical activity satisfy the increased need for stimulation). • the boredom theory (sport provides an alternative to occupy a time void, and by participating in physical activities, the child is too tired and too occupied to have energy left for delinquent behaviour). Character development Athletic competition does not appear to promote character development; instead, there are some studies that suggest that individuals with athletic experience have poorer attitudes toward fair play. Socially desirable behaviours such as friendliness, generosity and cooperation are inconsistent with physical activities that emphasize winning. However, physical activity may have the potential for personal growth in qualities including persistence, deeper self-reliance, commitment and motivation, and may increase resourcefulness. This is probably truer for noncompetitive physical activities than team competition. http://www.pulsus.com/Paeds/07_05/niem_ed.htm http://diabetes.about.com/cs/exercise/l/blNIHweightexer.htm
Exercise is an easy and attainable way to lose weight. A study in Durham, North Carolina showed this. Overweight men and women aging from 40-65 were split into three groups. Group 1 had to do the equivalent of 20 miles of jogging per week at 65%-80% peak oxygen consumption. Group 2 had to do the equivalent of 12 miles of jogging per week at 65%-80% peak oxygen consumption. Group 3 had to do the equivalent of 12 miles of jogging per week at 40%-55% peak oxygen consumption. Of 302 subjects screened, 182 met criteria and were randomized and 120 completed the study. There was a significant (P<.05) dose-response relationship between amount of exercise and amount of weight loss and fat mass loss. The high-amount/vigorous-intensity group lost significantly more body mass (in mean [SD] kilograms) and fat mass (in mean [SD] kilograms) (-2.9 [2.8] and -4.8 [3.0], respectively) than the low-amount/moderate-intensity group (-0.9 [1.8] and -2.0 [2.6], respectively), the low-amount/vigorous-intensity group (-0.6 [2.0] and -2.5 [3.4], respectively), and the controls (+1.0 [2.1] and +0.4 [3.0], respectively). Both low-amount groups had significantly greater improvements than controls but were not different from each other. Compared with controls, all exercise groups significantly decreased abdominal, minimal waist, and hip circumference measurements (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14718319).

Being a soldier was a really tough life. In the end I hated doing the same thing day after day with no change in sight, I despised the leaders that didn 't take care of their subordinates, and most importantly, I couldn 't lead my soldiers from the front anymore. I 'll be the first one to say that joining the army was the best thing to happen to me. I have grown so much as a person and the lessons I learned are invaluable. In the end I realized the negative factors outweighed any possible benefit I might receive from continued service. It was time for me to
According to this definition, we can see that human resource management should not merely handle recruitment, pay, and discharging, but also should maximize the use of an organization's human resources in a more strategic level. To describe what the HRM does in the organization, Ulrich, D. & Brocklebank, W. (2005) have outlined some of the HRM roles such as employee advocate, human capital developer, functional expert, strategic partner and HR leader etc.
Children who participate in sports are developing rapidly in sports skills, sportsmanship, and psychologically, but does this come from organized sports are just nature’s process. Children develop emotional and social benefits from participating in sports. Children experience character and leadership development through peer relations leading to an increase in self-esteem and a decrease in anxiety levels. Children will get opportunities to experience positive and negative emotions throughout their practice and games trials. It is important for the coach to understand the “psychology of youth sports and physical activity participation” (Weinberg & Gould, 2011 p.516).
I believe that physical activity will improve one's health in two aspects – the physical state of one's body, and the mental health of the individual, both of which are crucial in maintaining the well-being of a person, and taps onto other domains mentioned in the Healthy Lifestyle Index Report (such as BMI, sleep, stress and depression).
Exercise is a vital component of life. Exercise can contribute to a healthier mental and physical lifestyle. The human body is meant to stay in motion, regardless of whether the motion comes from vigorous exercise or simply walking around a shopping mall. Regular exercise can reduce the risk several disorders and disease; including heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, and diabetes. In addition, it can help improve an individual's appearance and delay the aging process. Exercise reduces stress, lifts moods, and improves sleeping behaviors. It is an easy and effective way to live a healthier life, yet the concept is continually ignored.
The main purpose of Human Resource Management is to increase the effectiveness and contribution of employee’s attainment of organizational goals and objective (Youssef, C.). Many areas of HRM have been discussed in this course. Those areas are EEO and Affirmative action, Human resource planning, recruitment, and selection, Human resource development, compensation and benefits, safety and health, and employee and labor relations. All these categories have an impact on how an organization is managed. Although there are many things that impact a business, the most important thing about managing a business is selecting the right people to help the company succeed.
“Exercise improves fat metabolism and reduced pro-inflammatory markers. By improving fat metabolism, a person reduces their risk of diabetes. Reducing pro-inflammatory markers also, reduces a person 's chance of having a heart attack or stroke. The benefits are endless. Physical activity is not just for fit people” ( Lemon, Western
Human Resource Management (HRM) can be defined as “the set of programs, functions, and activities designed and performed in order to capitalize on both employee as well as organizational effectiveness. It is a management function that helps organization in recruiting, selecting, and training, developing and managing
Human Resource Management (HRM) is fundamentally another name for personnel management. It is the process of making sure the employees are as creative as they can be. HRM is a way of grouping the range of activities associated with managing people that are variously categorised under employee relations, industrial/labour relations, personnel management and organisational behaviour. Many academic departments where research and teaching in all these areas take place have adopted the title department of human resources management. HRM is a coordinated approach to managing people that seeks to integrate the various personnel activates so that they are compatible with each other. Therefore the key areas of employee resourcing, employee development, employee reward and employee involvement are considered to be interrelated. Policy-making and procedures in one of these areas will have an impact on other areas, therefore human resources management is an approach that takes a holistic view and considers how various areas can be integrated.
