A grimy, crumbling house, a disease burdened friend from the past, and his sister that is supposedly dead. This is all that awaits in Edward Alan Poe’s horrific tale, The Fall of the House of Usher. In the story we see a “late” Lady Madeline fling open the hall doors displaying herself to Roderick and the narrator in a blood stained gown as she, “fell heavily inward upon the person of her brother, and in her violent and now final death-agonies, bore him to the floor a corpse,” leaving the narrator aghast. We also envision the mansions fissure opening up and collapsing into itself as the narrator stands in awe. “My brain reeled as I saw the mighty walls rushing asunder,” says the narrator as the blood red moon shines on the devastated mess of a mansion.
