Can you jump 5 feet in the air without warning? One of the characters in the story Rikki-Tikki-Tavi by Rudyard Kipling did just that. Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is a short story of a mongoose. The story of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi starts when Rikki is washed out of his home and ended up in India. In the bungalow, Rikki meets some new friends: Teddy, Teddy’s mom, and Teddy’s dad. In the garden he also meets Darzee, Nag, Nagaina, and Darzee’s wife. During the story, Rikki uses some different traits to help him out. This is how Rikki is protective, threatening, and risky. The first trait for Rikki is protective, and here is an example of it. Rikki is protective because, when Rikki goes to sleep the first night in the bungalow he is a “restless companion” (p. 17). Rikki was protecting the family to attend to each and every noise in the house to make sure it was not an intruder and make sure everyone was ok. If someone tried to break in or if a snake came into Teddy’s room Rikki would attack to protect the family. Rikki surly shows how protective he is to …show more content…
Rikki is threatening because, when he tells Chuchundra “you must tell me. Quick Chuchundra or i’ll bite you” (p.21). When Rikki needs to find something out he doesn't like to wait. Rikki definitely shows he is threatening when he needed to find something out. Rikki told Chuchundra that he was going to bite him which will hurt and make Chuchundra scared. Being hurt and scared is definitely a threatening situation. The last trait for Rikki is risky this is how he shows it. When it was his last chance to finish Nagaina he “plunged into the rat hole where she and Nag used to live” (p.27). Rikki is now going to extensive lengths to help this family, he is taking serious risks that could potentially kill him. If he doesn't take the risk then Nagaina could come back to hurt the family. Rikki is risking his life to finish off Nagaina. Rikki is definitely showing how he is risky in this
In the book Rikki crushes all but one egg of Nagaina’s to bribe Nagaina into staying away from the kid. Rikki said, “What’sthe price for a snake’s egg? For a young cobra? For a king cobra? For the last-the very last of the brood? The ants are eating all the others by the melon bed.” Also in the book the snake flees with the egg trying to outrun Rikki. In the book it states, “He had forgotten about the egg. It lay on the veranda and Nagaina came nearer and nearer to it, til at last, while Rikki-Tikki was drawing breath, She caught it in her mouth, turned to the veranda steps, and flew like an arrow down the path.” Also in the movie the mongoose booked it right into the snake hole where many mongooses never come out. (movie) The movie shows “Rikki chasing Nagaia down a hole where the snake lived.” Also in the movie Rikki killed Nagaina, and whatever cobra ever dared to try to threaten him or the family. In conclusion that is how the Resolution is related to the book and the
Did you know that a mongoose can kill a king cobra with just one bite to the neck? Rikki-Tikki-Tavi has been argued for being a vigilante, “any person who takes the law into his or her own hands, as by avenging a crime.” (dictionary.reference.com) because he killed three snakes. Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is actually a hero because he sacrificed his life to ensure the safety of others and his family by killing three snakes.
This is shown multiple times, and you could argue that everything she does is because she is caring for her eggs. The most prominent time that this trait is shown, is here: “Nagaina spun clear round, forgetting everything for the sake of one egg.” (p. 25) This quote shows how caring she is, because she would drop everything for her only remaining egg, thanks to Rikki smashing all the others. Because she cared about this egg so much, she sacrificed herself for it, but it did no good. Rikki killed them both (the egg and Nagaina), in a rat hole that Nagaina had used to escape being killed. After everything she did to keep the egg safe; Rikki ruined it all.
The movie and the book both star Rikki Tikki Tavi, a valiant mongoose that hunted and killed two King Cobras. There is the family, consisting of Teddy and his mother and father. They both are referred as Teddy’s mother and Teddy’s father. There is also Nag and Nagaina, 2 king cobras which Rikki fights and kills. There is Darzee, the Tailor bird (Movie), whose wife helps Rikki destroy the eggs of the cobras. “Darzee, the tailor bird, helped him, and Chuchundra, the muskrat, who never comes out into the middle of the floor, but always creeps round by the wall, gave him advice; but Rikki-Tikki did the real fighting” (Kipling, page 143) The story describes Chuchundra as a shy muskrat, who never has spirit enough to go into the middle of the floor. Darzee, the tailor bird and his clever wife. In the film, however, Rikki is much more energetic and moving around all over the people
Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is a children’s book written by Rudyard Kipling, about a mongoose that was adopted into by an English family in India. The story begins with a little boy, Teddy, finding a mongoose washed up after a flood. The mongoose was friendly and would protect the house from venomous snakes; they named him Rikki-Tikki-Tavi because it is onomatopoeia for the sound that Rikki makes.
Without love there is no loyalty, and without loyalty, there is no bravery. In the book and movie of the story Rikki- Tikki- Tavi, they were neck and neck. Snake against mongoose, though one must surely die, neither will back down just yet. The book, Written By Rudyard Kipling, and the movie, produced by Julie Ross, generally both carry the same plot and main idea: After being washed out of his home, and cared for by a loving family of three, he wants to repay them, and in the process does an unforgettable act of service. Though both the mediums were exciting, there were also numerous similarities and differences between the book, and the movie, such as the banana scene, the scene where the family first found him, and the resolution.
If you've ever thought of jumping off of a tall building, there was a guy who jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge. He survived, and he said this, he said "halfway down, I thought it was a bad idea” (Robin Williams, Weapons of Self Destruction)
Would you jump off a 50 ft Precipice? In the story “The Ravine”, Joe-Boy and Vinny are 15 year old, hawaiian boys. They are going to the ravine to jump off cliffs and swim. Two weeks and one day before they visit the ravine, a boy died jumping from the ravine. Vinny and Joe-Boy are different in many ways and are the similar in a few.
In the story, after Rikki Tikki Tavi was washed out of his burrow, he was found and loved by a little boy named Teddy and his parents. He knew how to act around humans because every mongoose including his mother wanted to be a house mongoose. He had some problems with a couple of local cobras named Nag and Nagaina. These were very poisonous snakes, who put Rikki’s family in terrible danger. Rikki Tikki Tavi was a very hero like character ,but there were sometimes that he did not demonstrate these qualities.
Rikki Tikki Tavi, a brave fellow, was greatly loved by his adopted family. In this story Rikki confronted his problems with the local cobras, Nag and Nagaina. These snakes caused many calamities throughout Rikki’s time with Teddy’s family. Rikki Tikki, whom has protective qualities, tried to defend his family and friends from these hazardous animals. Throughout the story Rikki Tikki was a very brave and upstanding character, although he had to at some points break the rules of heroism, and act in a disrespectful way toward his friends for their greater good.
A trait is a distinguishing quality that seperates you from everyone else. Loyalty is one of the many healthy traits you may have. This word could mean many different things, but have one thing in comman. Three words that strongly represets loyalty is, caring, thoughtful, and dedication. In “House of the Red Fish” some of the characters demonstrate loyalty, and it is a quality that makes them who they are.
One trait I learned is responsibilities. I am the oldest child and the only girl in my house. I have many responsibilities as taking care of my brothers. For example, I cook for the family, I babysit my baby brother, and I help them with their school work. Moreover, I have to make sure the house is clean while my parents are at work. At the same time, I have to seek to my college degree to get a better job, so I could help my family financially. By
Lastly, the findings of trait theory and its components described within the paper will be summarised. Major contributors to the trait theory of personality include three prominent psychologists. Boeree (2006) states that American born psychologist Gordon Allport has been described as the founding father of personality trait theory. Allport’s distinguished career included holding the presidency of the American Psychological Association (APA) and receiving the Gold Medal Award and a Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award from the APA (Carducci, 2009, p. 260). After meeting with Sigmund Freud in 1922 and studying his interpretation of personality, Allport developed the opinion that psychoanalysis was too in-depth while behaviourism was far too shallow in the field of personality psychology.
Skydiving has been around since ancient Chinese times as a form of aerial stunts. Leonardo da Vinci and the Chinese are both credited for creating the parachute, but it was really in the 18th century when France both created it and used it by basically throwing themselves out of planes. Little did anyone know that skydiving would be one of the craziest sports today. Jumping out of a plane two and a half miles up into the sky would not be someone’s idea of a normal day. As bad as two and a half miles up in the sky is, try doing it traveling at a rate of one-hundred and sixty miles per hour with just a parachute to save you. To many people this would be a nightmare; but to some of us, it is the biggest thrill of our lives.
Anxiety took over my body as I prepared to jump. The 80 foot waterfall looming atop Turner Falls seemed to be challenging me, beckoning me to come and attempt to plunge from the rock into the waterfall to try to endure the pressure as the water knocked me straight down into the deep waters and jagged rocks which awaited below. I waited with an eager excitement thinking that if I could take this plunge, I would really be able to swim with those I saw as the "big fish." Waiting on that rock I had no idea that the events following my wait would change that jump from being something I so much desired into something I would be grateful to never personally experience.
