Queen Elizabeth I is secretly lamenting her need to dismiss the one she loves. In order to keep up her strong image and maintain the respect that a Queen requires to rule, Elizabeth I of England is forced to conceal all her contradicting feelings. Her love for this man evolves into an annoyance that refuses to be contained. Thus, she must rid herself of her love, the French Duke of Anjou, for the sake of being Queen. Elizabeth is indecisive because of her contradicting emotions and fails to accomplish expressing her true feelings. Internal strife affects the way one lives and cause distancing from one’s problems in order to try to relieve one’s suffering and pain. Subject - The poem is influenced by affection, specifically of that that is situationally unrequited. The Queen loves this man but is politically unavailable because of the royal position she is in. Because of this, Elizabeth Tudor must depart physically and emotionally from the monsieur in order to maintain the respect that was fought and earned for herself and England/Ireland. She was born on September 7, 1533 to King Henry VIII and his second wife Anne Boleyn. Her mother was executed and falsely charged with incest, witchcraft, adultery and conspiracy against the king, only three years after Elizabeth’s birth. Elizabeth was technically born a princess, but was later thought of a as illegitimate princess due to her mother. Because of this, Elizabeth’s half sister took the throne first, but after Mary passed away Elizabeth became queen. Elizabeth accomplished many things throughout her reign; including, defeating the Spanish Armada, establishing Protestantism in her country, maintaining peace throughout England, and allowing the arts to florice in the country. Her reign ended when she died on March 24,
