Do you know who had a really crazy summer vacation? I did! Everyone should take a family vacation to another Country. The exploration of a different culture makes for life long memories. Last summer, after months of planning our family trip to Mexico the day had arrived. The morning was already hot and I was pacing all around the house double checking that I had packed all the necessities for the week long stay. It was time to load up our belongings and hit the road for a 14 hour drive. Knowing that this drive was going to be so long, I stocked up on dvds and snacks for the 3 little ones to keep them entertained in between their nap sessions. Driving straight through the night only stopping for gas and restroom breaks we finally reached our destination. Arriving to a small pueblo with a population of about 1000 people, dirt roads, and houses made of mostly adobe blocks was definitely a change of scenery. The weather was extremely hot and dry almost desert like. Although this was such a change for my family we were going to enjoy our vacation to the fullest. Pulling up to my mother...
The story of Summer, by David Updike, is set during that idyllic time in life when responsibility is the last word on anyone's mind. And yet, as with all human affairs, responsibility is an ever-present and ever-necessary aspect to life. What happens when the protagonist, Homer, loses his awareness of a certain personal responsibility to maintain self-control? Homer's actions increasingly make him act foolishly, internally and externally. Also, how does Homer return to a sense of sanity and responsibility? To a degree, I would say that he does.
I never predicted this beautiful trip ending up as a nightmare in my existence. I drove for approximately 40 minutes and my partner shared the driving for an additional 40 minutes. We were driving my friend mom’s brand new Toyota Camry XLE; one of the most comfortable cars I had ever been in. We enjoyed the elongated ride with new hit music, and air conditioning set to an exact temperature that met our necessities. On the way to the beach some doubts about going there started to circle around our minds, but the fact that we were about half way there made them a...
When we got out there we were all very impressed by the appearance of the city. This was obviously a tourist town. When we found the hotel we were impressed by the huge glass windows and cedar siding. It looked more like the Hilton than a Best Western. We checked in and were shown to our rooms. After bringing in all of our things, we went straight to bed knowing that we had a huge day ahead of us, not knowing how huge it was really going to be.
Out of all the trips I have taken, Cancun was definitely the best. It was 2013 and I was in fifth grade. I had known about the trip for weeks and I was so amped up for the plane ride, for the hotel, and especially the ocean. I was in science and the teacher was getting mad because I was distracting all the kids by jittering all over the place. Finally I heard my name called over the intercom and I leaped for joy and ran out of the classroom. From school we drove to the Iowa Airport, got our tickets and loaded onto the plane. Our first plane took us to Chicago, Illinois where we boarded a plane , at the O’Hare International Airport, departing for Cancun,Mexico. The second plane was very lengthy, I tried to sleep but I didn’t actually fall asleep
It was 12:00 at night, but I was still wide awake. I was anxious for the trip that was in store for me. The next morning I drove to the airport and took a flight to Colorado. I rented a car and drove to Red Cliffs lodge in Moab, Utah. Moab is a dry, desert town in Utah located right next to Canyonlands national park where I would spend most of my time. Right as I got out of the car I could see the beautiful canyonlands scenery. The gigantic cliffs of the island in the sky loomed over the lodge. The blue waters of the Colorado river ran behind the lodge. My room was spacious and had a great view of the cliffs. The best part of the room was the window right above my bed. That night I fell asleep gazing at a full moon and a sky full of stars.
Summer is time for friends, relaxation, and memories, but my summer was none of that. Summer going into freshman year was not the best because of school. Well even before I went into high school I heard stories from my cousins and other students about bullying and being thrown a penny at because I would be freshman. I was frightened for a whole month before school started. I remember asking my cousin how did he deal with all of that in school and he said “just collect all the pennies and save them and let the bullies beat you up”. You might think i was overreacting unless if you heard the way he was saying it. Walking into the hallways of Buffalo grove high school scared and cautious I enter my classroom, looking left and right,
My mom, dad, brother, sister, and I were getting prepared to head out. I was in my room packing. I couldn’t wait to get on the road, the trip was gonna be around 2000 miles. I was really eager to see the California part and see the cold Pacific
COMPELLING CONTRASTS “Strength lies in differences, not in similarities.” This amazing quote by Stephen Cowen says that we are all unique, and differences are what make people special. In All Summer in a Day, and in the artwork titled “Lonely Little Duck,” there is a similar theme - our differences are what make us unique. Though we are all different in some way, these differences make us beautiful special. The theme of differences is conveyed in the short story because of how the other students treated Margot.
When I was younger my parents would take my sister and I to a spot near Pine Point around the same time in August for the end of our summer vacation. It was something that we could look forward to all year and we knew that no two years would be the same. There were new restaurants that would open up and also places with different types of activities such as a multilevel arcade. It was not the differences that I would look forward to though, but the things that were exactly the same. The camp site that we would stay at was always exactly the same as well as the quality time spent with family. No matter what the weather was like, nobody was worried, because just the time away from home secluded with your family was enough to keep us happy. This is a perfect example of why every time you travel, you do not need to go to a new
Our parents had arranged for a cruise from Houston, Texas with stops at Cancun and Cozumel, Mexico. Then a one-day stop in Honduras and back to the U.S.A.
My most memorable family vacation took place two years ago. We went to Corsica, a French island situated in the south of France right next to Italy. I remembered waking up early excited to visit this new land. Used to take long flights, I was surprised to arrive to the destination after a one-hour flight. Even though the flight was short for me, it was stressful for my mom, she has never felt secured in a plane, probably due to the fact that she is afraid of height. When finally arrived at the destination, the dry and warm weather was there to welcome us. We all felt relief, and knew that this was the beginning of the summer. Excited, we had a lot of activities planned for the few weeks, me and my father could not wait to dive in the clear
My favorite summer vacation was when my Father took me to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. What made it even more memorable was the fact that it was my very first time on an airplane. I cannot recall another time in my life when I experienced so much joy. That trip to Universal Studios was the first time my Father and I actually did something together, just the two of us and was something brought me close to my Father. In this essay I will tell you about my plane ride over there, what I did right when I got there, and about my time at Universal Studios.
Going on a road trip with my family means the world to me. We drove to another state during summer vacation, and it was by far the best road trip I have ever been on. My family and I were able to go to many fun places. We ate so many exotic and delicious foods as well. Yet most importantly, I spent time with my family and their friends. It was the day when my family and I went to California for our summer vacation.
Throughout someone’s life they will go to many places with their family, friends, another relatives. I have been on a few vacations that have made a lasting impact on my life. But one of the most memorable vacations I have experienced was with my cousins. I went to goa beach. Most of you probably don’t know about that beach but it is a very famous one in south India. I enjoyed myself to the fullest. The beach environment was enlightening. I would not have wanted to take this trip with anyone other than my cousins. We had a great time on the ocean sands and swimming in the ocean everyday made this vacation unforgettable.
We were very drained and I even came to the point where I told myself that I will never ever go back to Bicol again unless I will ride a plane from Manila to Naga City. I don’ t care if it’s free or what but swear, not the bus again. I just cannot visualize myself riding on a bus with a super long tiresome hours of travel. We were totally stressed all over after we found a convenient place, The Naga Manor Hotel to abide in while we are there. It was almost 10:30 pm when we had our decent meal for the day at Bigg’s Diner which is one of their best food chains and slept pass 12 in the midnight. We were completely tired but thanks to God for having a very nice room with a soothing bed and of course a cheetah-like wifi. So, we obviously slept tight the rest of the night. A beautiful sunshine that ran through a window curtain woke us up on the next day. Mrs. Vargas was beautifully stretching out when she realized that it was our first day of Conference. So, we hurried to fix all things out and greatly had our free breakfast at the
