The Bass Guitar is the key instrument in any band, no matter what genre. People commonly consider the vocals or lead guitar to be the most important sound since it is the loudest, but if a bass player stopped playing in any situation, it is always notable. The bass is the glue of a band, it holds rhythm and harmony, while tying the guitar to the drums. Thus being, the bass has had such a dramatic impact on all styles and genres of music, from any point of time. So how far does the Bass Guitar go back in history?
While the Double Bass (Upright Bass) gained its fame in orchestras and big bands, it actually paved the path for the future Bass Guitar. Orville Gibson, along with Adolph Rickenbacker, created the first electric Upright Bass. The idea

This new bass had the shape of a guitar, which was a big deal to Bass players. Bass players could now travel much easier with their guitar rather than a bulky Double Bass. The new design also introduced more sophisticated electronics, pick-ups, and a encouraged better amplifiers. This new bass meant that the whole band wouldn’t muffle out its sound, like the barely audible Upright. It also meant that a whole new type of strings would have to be made. Squier tackled this job and made the all new flat-wound strings exclusively for the bass. As rivaling companies saw the creation of the Bass guitar, it wouldn’t be long after until they made models of their own. These new models all follow the styles of music, from looks to their unique …show more content…
Many genres use the tone of the bass in different ways. For instance, at the beginning of its creation, it was used to sub fill the Upright. It could be heard over the strings and percussion, a common place where it never was heard at all. Eventually towards the end of big bands came the explosion of small group garage rock bands of the late 50’s and so on. We saw groups such as The Beatles or Elvis Presley’s Jerry Scheff introduce a dominant side of the Bass guitar, a side which allowed it to go beyond its capabilities. This explosion of possibilities made countless guitar manufactures endeavor their ideas for a “New Bass Guitar”. Companies such as Ibanez, Schecter, Epiphone, Yamaha, Rickenbacker’s 4000 and 4003 models and very importantly, Music Mans iconic Stingray. Companies like these led to new ideas, such as one of the greatest inventions of all of Bass Guitar history, Humbucking active pickups. This was a huge invention that came along with the Music Man Stingray and helped develop the heavy distortion and funk of the late 70’s until present. This is where we see the bass develop more rhythm and life, something words can’t describe. It's almost as if the Bass produces a language of its own, something that turns a band from mediocre to excellent. Listen to The 5th Dimension’s “Aquarius”. Here you can listen to Joe Osborn play such a classic but demanding riff. The whole song is built off
It is believed that the Irish brought to the region the fiddle and the pipes. It is believed that the first stringed instrument, the dulcimer was brought by the Germans, Norwegians, Swedish and French. The dulcimer became known as the 1“Hog Fiddle” or “Music Box”.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Rock ‘n’ roll was a controversial yet fashionable genre of popular music that emerged in the early 1950s (America in the World, 1776 to the Present : A Supplement to the Dictionary of American History: Mâ€'Z, Index. 2016, p896-899.). Its origin is also started from the revolution of bourgeois. The younger generation had gone through the Second World War, though, the older generation had treated kids. Two generations that had each world war had divided. A lot of the pain and anger felt by the younger generation made them to resist against the social establishment. As a result, the war had created a gulf between generations but further reduced the gap between blacks and whites. The youth of the 1950s felt unconnected to their society and began looking at the world more globally, and also began looking for new role models who reflected their ideas and beliefs. They knew that ideas of old generation would no longer work in a modern society. Thus several young leaders stood out and took center stage that setting the pace for the direction of society and its music form that point on. At this time, technical innovations had emerged such as electric guitar and electric bass. This is the impetus of creation of music including rock ‘n’
The Revolutionary Instrument, the Trumpet. Throughout the ages, styles, instruments, and concepts of music have changed very dramatically, but still the trumpet has survived them all. From Classical, to Jazz, to Polka, to Latin, to Big Band, to small ensembles, to Opera, and Musicals. It is probably the most popular instrument of all time with talented musicians like Allen Vizzuti, Maynard Ferguson, Arturo Sandoval, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Dizzie Gillespie, Doc Severinsen, Herbert L. Clarke, and Claude Gordon.
Another reason why classic rock is the best is because you had to be talented to become famous. If you are vocally or musically talented now you have to be physically attractive to make it big. Now if you are pretty and have no musical talent you can throw in a lot of autotune and be “talented”. For example Steven Tyler, he was never really a attractive guy. He couldn’t just wake up one day and be pretty. He made it big for his talent. Same thing with the lead singer of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain. If you’re not attractive you might as well kiss your talent goodbye and find something else to do with your
Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam, Alternative Grunge bands from the 90s, were very influential to today’s bands. Grunge music started in the early 90s, mainly from the Seattle scene. Metallica, Kiss, and even Led Zeppelin helped make alternative music start. Although these bands were very famous in the 90s, many of them suffered from substance abuse and even depression. After years of being famous some bands split completely, some formed new bands with members in other bands, and even some stayed together and play together today. All bands believed that people should be able to afford music and listen to what they enjoy, not what other people want you to listen to. Bands from the 90s have influenced some of

As the nineteen seventies came to a close so did many of the musical styles of that decade. While some faced what seemed to be extinction others went through a sort of evolutionary process. The bands that were at the top of the heavy metal ladder during this time were such acts as Motorhead, Iron Maiden, and Tygers of Pan Tang. These groups would be just some of what the new crop of heavy metal bands would consider inspirational. This style, which is typically referred to as "The New Wave of British Heavy Metal," would fuel and empower many acts to stardom. (Marshall 3)
The second percussion instrument was the rattle. The rattle was found later in the time when humans started to grow plants. It was found accidentally when someone picked up a dried out gourd of some sort and shook it. The ancient rattles were readily available because the people that grew the plants were just learning how to grow plant so they made many mistakes.
When it comes to classic musical instrument, piano is definitely one of the names that pop up in your mind. Indeed, after its first appearance around the year of 1700, piano has never left the stage of high culture and top class performance. Till today, three hundred years have past since it was first invented. Surely, a lot of changes have been made during this long period of evolution, the designers learnt to utilize better materials but the basic inner mechanism have stayed the same. However, the outside appearance of piano did changed a few times throughout the course of time. The first piano borrowed quite a bit of its look and design from the harpsichord because it was invented by Bartolomeo di Francesco Cristofori, an Italian harpsichord maker. (Powers, W. 2008) Namely, a noticeable amount of improvements have been made during the evolution of the instrument base on the demand of the time and arena. In this essay, stringed instruments with keyboard which are in the

Leo Fender, in the 1950s, with some help from his employee, George Fullerton, managed to develop the first mass produced bass guitar. The Fender P bass, or Precision Bass guitar, was introduced in 1951. It became a widely copied standard in the industry. The Fender Bass Guitar was a new instrument that was easily transportable to a gig. It can be amplified to about any volume without having to worry about feedback. Elvis Presley started using the Fender Precision Bass around 1957. Following Fender in 1953, Gibson introduced the first short scale violin-shaped electric bass with an extendable end pin, which allows the instrument to be played upright or horizontally. Gibson renamed this in 1958 to the EB-1. Other small companies began introducing the Electric Bass during the 1950s like Kay in 1952 and Danelectro in 1956. The distinctive Violin Bass was made using the violin construction techniques. It was introduced in 1956 by a man named Walter Hofner. This instrument is mostly known as the “Beatle Bass” since Sir Paul McCartney made it famous.
Therefore, electric guitars has a long line of history behind it. Adolph Rickenbacker did a great job of changing modern music by inventing the electric guitar. We would not have as many genres of music as we do now if it were not for the electric guitar. Some genres could not even survive if there was not a electric guitar, other genres would not be how they are today if not for the invention of the electric guitar in 1931. Even though many people claim to have invented the electric guitar, everyone of them should get credit for this amazing inventions. As you can see, the electric guitar has changed music from the 1930s all the way up to the 2000s in such an impactful way.

Throughout the years rock has influenced our culture and helped shape the world we live in today.
This article makes a major contribution to our understanding of how the theory of war has changed over time. The major theme of the article is the relationship that exists between ‘Old Wars’ and ‘New Wars’, and whether the theory behind ‘New Wars’ accurately portrays recent conflicts. It argues that ‘new wars’ should be understood not as an empirical category but rather as a way of elucidating the logic of contemporary war that can offer both a research strategy and a guide to policy. It addresses four components of the debate: whether new wars are ‘new’; whether new wars are war or crime; whether the data supports the claims about new wars; and whether new wars are ‘post-Clausewitzean. Kaldor’s article is especially notable for including criticisms
The cable is what connects the guitar to the amplifier. An amplifier is basically the speaker that generates the sound of the electric guitar. As you gain experience, you can upgrade all these parts on your guitar. Eventually you’ll also have the choice to add a pedal or a loop bar to add effects to your music. The loop bar and pedal are the devices that change the tone, pitch, and sound of an electric guitar. As a result, these effects create an interesting sound and increase the intensity at a concert. Even through the screaming of people, it is all these devices that allow the electric guitar play so loud. These tools are beneficial for the player in the long run because you are improving in both your equipment and ways of making music. In the end, it’s convenient to know what guitar best suits you by concentrating on other factors of the guitar as
