Isn’t crazy how we can remember certain things from our childhood? I can vividly see my younger self watching Disney channel and eating a bowl of Froot Loops. How is it possible that I can remember such a thing from long ago? The simple answer is that it impacted me in some shape or form. The way things impact us can help us transform into the person we will be. Walt Disney and Steve Jobs each created a successful business that has changed society in some way. The contributions they each created has made an impact but which has impacted more? We can tell by viewing each man’s background, successes and overall number reached from their products. Walt Disney is known for creating an enterprise built on first a movie production. Although
he had a rough start in the animation business he went on to win 8 oscars for Snow White. Those eight Oscars were just the beginning with Walt Disney now having thirty-two Oscars according to “The Walt Disney Museum”. He not only holds the record for individual Oscars won ,but also the highest number of nominations at fifty-nine. Disney’s highest grossing film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, made over two billion dollars in the box office and was watched in over four thousand theaters across the planet. We can assume that billions of people have seen Disney films with over 600 produced. Disney created two original theme parks, Walt Disney World and Disneyland, centered around family’s having fun and feeling safe together. Disney World and Disneyland together average 63 million people attending the parks every single year. Both parks are supposed to have been visited by well over 650 million people a piece. Family’s all over the world have been brought together by Disney’s franchise. Steve Jobs is the face of the technology company, Apple. Starting this company from the ground up, it’s first product was the Apple 1 computer hand built by cofounder Steve Wozniak. In 1980, Apple produced Apple 2 computer and this product increased from 7.8 million dollars to 117 million dollars. Apple’s success continued to rise. After announcing the iPod, Apple rose to fame in consumer telecommunication which led to the Iphone. Apple is now the second largest telephone company in the world and has 498 stores worldwide. It leads the world in being the largest information technology company by its revenue. Although Apple’s Macbook and Ipad have had tons of success, Time Magazine claims the Iphone is by far the most successful product. Iphone alone brings in over sixty-six percent of Apple’s revenues and profits around 150 billion dollars a year. Around a billion Apple products are in active use right now. The Iphone’s features help connecting with people across the globe much easier. Apps such as Facetime, Facebook, and Skype all bought through the app store helps connect people. Memories stay with us forever and technology will always eventually fail. Those Froot Loops gave me vibrant tastes of pure childhood just like what Disney gives us through his franchise. Apple is like Raisin Bran gives us what we need ,but it is nothing more than a filler. Raisin Bran’s taste will not leave an impact on our tastebuds just like Froot Loops will keep us remembering those colors and tastes for hours to come. Apple’s success is obvious ,but Disney gave us more than success. He gave us memories that we can share with people for decades to come. Disney’s empire has impacted me and the way I see even the simplest things. He created something more than a company or even a phone. Lasting impacts are made in different ways ,but Disney his through making a world of imagination.

Being the common routine that it is, some of us will get up to get something to drink, make some popcorn, or even take out the trash instead of watching the advertisements. This is an important skill, as it leads to quality products being made. The step from making short cartoons to doing full length cartoons and later live-action movie production is quite natural. What is not that natural and straight forward, and at the same time significant to the success of Disney, is the way in which Disney started to integrate vertically when they created the Buena Vista Distribution.
