The Human Heart
The human heart is an organ that pumps blood through the circulatory system into the human body. The human heart is a complex organ which has special parts, a complicated way of working and further requires multiple tasks to be done to keep the heart healthy. In, order for the human heart to work properly, it uses specific parts that allow it to run. With these specific parts, the human heart works in a particular way further explain. When certain defects are formed in the heart, many diseases can occur further explained. To help fix the disease in the heart there are many surgeries that are done. In some surgeries, machines are inserted into the heart which allows the heart to behave better than it did without the machine.

First, the human heart is covered in Membrane (protective film) which protects the heart. Likewise, the heart divided into two parts by a thick muscle called the septum and on each side of the two parts, there is two atrium which is hollow chambers. In addition, the right atrium is filled with oxygen-poor blood and the left atrium is filled with oxygen-rich blood. Again, the lower chambers of the heart are called the ventricles. Although this was called a success, the implantation of the artificial heart left the sheep in a weakened state. It wasn’t until late 1970’s and the early 1980’s where the improvement of the artificial heart actually received attention as a possible alternative to a heart transplant. The remodeled product of the early 1970’s did more than just the 50 hours of sustained life; it enabled the cow to live longer and to live a relatively normal life, with the exception of a machine attached to the animal.
The science and history of the heart can be traced back as far as the fourth century B.C. Greek philosopher, Aristotle, declared the heart to be the most vital organ in the body based on observations of chick embryos. In the second century A.D, similar ideas were later reestablished in a piece written by Galen called On the Usefulness of the Parts of the Body. Galen’s thesis was that the heart was the source of the body’s essential heat and most closely related to the soul. Galen made careful observations of the physical properties of the heart as well. He said “The heart is a hard flesh, not easily injured. In hardness, tension, in general strength, and resistance to injury, the fibers of the heart far surpasses all others, for no other instrument performs such continues, hard work as the heart”(Galen, Volume 1).

Since the atrium is located above the right ventricle, a mixture of gravity and a squeeze pushes tricuspid valve into the right ventricle. The tricuspid is made up of three things that allow blood to travel from top to bottom in the heart but closes to prevent the blood from backing up in the right atrium.

Of these, 610,000 are a first heart attack victim. 325,000 happen in people who have already had a heart attack. Also coronary heart disease alone costs the United States $108.9 billion each year.
