Technological development continues to influence our world in various shapes and forms, reaching out to every corner of the globe. Wherever an individual may be, technology surrounds them that make the lives of many individuals more efficient. Sporting competitions have become more advanced than ever before with the continuous use and development of technology as soccer (football) emphasizes. As many other sports, football has evolved for the better with the improvement of quality and magnificence. Several changes that revolutionized the sport include the development of goal-line technology, video replays, and the Footbonaut. For example, in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brasil, a Bosnian player named Edin Dzeko scored a legitimate goal against Nigeria called back for offside. As shown by replays, Dzeko clearly scored a legitimate goal where he was at least a couple yards onside. Bosnian fans were shocked and angry at the officials for such an outrageous call because that goal would have sent Bosnia to their first ever knockout rounds of an international competition. Such controversies have brought up a sense of unfairness within the beautiful game and anger amongst the fans that would also require a major solution. To the present day, there has not been a single technological innovation created to resolve the issues, but video replays will be used in mid-December for the FIFA Club World Cup Japan competition. The use of video replays in the competition would make football history as there has never been any video replays used in the middle of a football match. Finally, officials would be able to make correct decisions to ensure a fair game and reduction in controversy.
