With the car now being sideways after the crash, in order to get out, Joel uses all his strength and starts to kick the windshield in front of him until it shatters. Joel carefully crawls out then reaches in for Sarah, avoiding the shards of glass on the ground and still bordering the windshield. Just as she starts to climb out and stand up, she falls over and complains that her leg hurts. A noticeably worried Joel grabs his revolver from his jean pocket then hands it over to Tommy and demands he protect them. Joel picks Sarah up and with her in his arms, they begin running for safety. As Joel sprints through the streets with Sarah in his arms and Tommy just a few feet in front of them, chaos erupts everywhere. In any given direction, there are either citizens or infected individuals dashing through the streets, with dozens of people being attacked along the way. In addition, there are explosions and many cars accidents with one car even driving straight into a gas station, causing it to blow up. Sarah at one point looks at the gas station then alarmingly utters, “those people are on fire,” to which Joel tells her not to look, prompting her to close her eyes and

Henry continues to used his connections that he made in prison to sell drugs while out of jail. Next comes the most historic score in their careers, The Lufthansa Heist. A robbery that took place at John F. Kennedy Airport, where the total return was in excess of six million dollars. After the heist Jimmy specifically told everyone not to go out and buy anything that might attract unusual attention Multiple people went directly against what Jimmy said and went out and bought multiple expensive things. Another problem arises, when the driver of the van that was used to transport the stolen money, was suppose to be taken to a junkyard and instead the driver went to his girlfriend’s house and celebrated with her. The van was found by the police and was staring to connect the dots. As you could imagine, this upset Jimmy, and he takes extreme caution as the police are starting to close in. In the film, American Psycho, Patrick Bateman was a wealthy investment banker who also happened to be a serial killer. He was highly intelligent and was charming which attracted many of the women who came his way. Unlike most people in the world, he lived in constant pain. He was rarely happy with himself, and also hated everyone around him. He felt that he needed to inflict his pain on others in violent ways. He always had something disgusting to say such as, “I like to dissect girls; I am utterly insane.” It is outside of the norm to speak in this way, therefore he would be considered deviant. He displayed feelings of distress as he became frustrated very easily with himself and others. Everything
All human beings are conscious of their appearance. Society conditions the individual to meet distinct appearance criteria and sets forth an image that is deemed “attractive”. This struggle to fit norms, known as lookism, is discriminatory in its nature. Defined in 2000 by the oxford dictionary as “’prejudice or discrimination on the grounds of appearance’”, this new “ism” has risen to the surface in recent years (Ambrosetti 52), showing the prominence of its affects. Human beings construct circumstances that rule their realities. Gender, ethnicity and culture are all cultural constructions that have no true meaning once removed from society. That being said, lookism is biases of identification that influence one’s
“He felt for a moment as if he’d lose his Fruit Loops, but he managed to squeeze the trigger.” (Poole, 1) this example tells us that the main character is copying his brother who also shot him. This seems to be the tipping point for both of them because at first it was just little things like stabbing the doll, but it had grown to mutilation. After this act of Simon shooting Ricky, Ricky has a mental break and he tells Simon that he wants to be the detective this time. Simon can’t figure out why, so he just agrees. While Ricky would mutilate the doll, Simon has not grown to that level of crazy

Entrails torn from the body with bare hands, eyes gouged out with razor blades, battery cables, rats borrowing inside the human body, power drills to the face, cannibalism, credit cards, business cards, Dorsia, Testoni, Armani, Wall Street; all of these things are Patrick Bateman’s world. The only difference between Bateman and anybody else is what is repulsive to Bateman and what is repulsive to the rest of the world. Bateman has great interest in the upper class life, fashions, and social existence, but at the same time he is, at times, sickened by the constant struggle to be one up on everybody else. On the other hand Bateman’s nightlife reveals a side of him never seen during the day. Bateman is relaxed, impulsive, and confident while torturing and killing. He doesn’t have to worry about being better than anyone else. The only competition he has is his last victim. Torture and murder are the two true loves of Patrick Bateman.

After this, Paul's fake reality falls apart quickly. Faced with the reality that he will have to return home, Paul decides to take his own life. Instead of ending it quickly with a gun, he decides to go a different route, "When the right moment came, he jumped. As he fell, the folly of his haste occurred to him with merciless clearness, the vastness of what he had left undone. There flashed through his brain, clearer than ever before, the blue of Adriatic water, the yellow of Algerian sands. He felt something strike his chest, and that his body was being thrown swiftly through the air, on and on, immeasurably far and fast, while his limbs were gently relaxed. Then, because the picture-making mechanism was crushed, the disturbing visions flashed into black,

The title Thackeray chose for his novel Vanity Fair is taken from The Pilgrim´s Progress by John Bunyan. In Bunyan´s book, one of the places Christian passes through on his pilgrimage to the Celestial City is Vanity Fair, where it is possible to buy all sorts of vanities. A very sad thing happens there: the allegorical person Faithful is killed by the people. In the novel Vanity Fair Thackeray writes about the title he has chosen: "But my kind reader will please to remember that this history has 'Vanity Fair' for a title, and that Vanity Fair is a very vain, wicked, foolish place, full of all sorts of humbugs and falsenesses and pretensions" (98). The choice of title is appopriate, because in his novel Thackeray deals with people who put wealth, property, and a station in life before everything else - including honesty and love.
