My hypothesis states if the pinto beans are watered with the “acid rain” mixture, then the acid rain would negatively affect whether the pinto bean will germinate because acid rain can wash away nutrients and poison plants with toxic metals which could affect whether the bean germinates. According to my data, my hypothesis was correct even though one of the beans with acid rain did germinate but that is 1 out of 20 beans so it’s very unlikely that it would happen again. My hypothesis was correct because my data proves that the pH of the acid rain mixture does affect whether the bean would germinate. Which makes sense because my background information talks about the negative affect of acid rain on plants. In conclusion my hypothesis was correct

For this lab investigation, our question was do pillbugs prefer vinegar or plain water in their environment? Our hypothesis was that if they were given the choice, then they would choose the water side because their natural environment is not as acidic as vinegar. Genetically modifying foods (GMOs) “are plants or animals that have been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses or other plants and animals that cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding” (nongmoproject.org). Most research done has concluded no positive benefits in using GMOs. There are serious health risks associated with eating GM foods based on scientific research done around the world. The purpose of GMOs are to increase production of crop yield and reduce pesticide use but research says otherwise. If farmers wanted to continue using GMOs to produce crops, labeling should be mandatory to allow consumers to have a conscious choice whether or not to eat GM food. Through research it has been proven that the use of GMOs to increased production of crops during a time of drought or disease have no benefits, just risks.
The pH of the water can have a great impact on aquatic life and the ecosystem if it has sudden shifts. The pH was first checked with the pH paper resulting with an average of three trials resulting in a 7.1 reading. Next the pH was read with the pH meter, the result of the three trials yielded an average of 8.31 and the pH on the day of collection was 7.12. The 7.1 reading of the pH paper fell more closely to the sample day pH, with a range of 0.4. On the other hand the pH meter recorded the pH with a range of only .05 which is much closer and the 8.31 average more closely relates to previous data on the Chip-A-Waters River. The day of the sample selection there was rain that could have had acidity that made the sample day water more acidic than usual, and the pH paper readings could have been in error due to old pH paper and limitation of available reading range and significant figures. Though on the pH meter there was a found uncertainty of .19. When the buffer 7.0 pH solution was tested with the meter it read at a 7.19 pH. Both readings though vastly different fall between the normal range of 5.5-8.5
The greenhouse gases are those that absorb the Earths radiation and thus contribute to the greenhouse effect, but water is also a major absorber of energy.
