As we all know none of have enough power to completely change the world into the ideal place to live, while everybody has their opinions on what they would change people rarely make the step to change it, and when they do it still does not change the entire world. While we cannot and do not have the power to change our growing world, sometimes we can have enough power to change the very community that we live in and that can be enough to start a movement, especially in a thriving society like our own. In our community one thing that I would change would be to draw more attention to the opportunities to volunteer and the importance of it. I would also urge for the building of homes for homeless all around our neighborhoods. One last change that I would change is the starting time of school for all grade levels. …show more content…
It creates the idea of commitment to the community, it can be put on college and job applications, and it builds character. Not all people have the opportunity to volunteer, not because they can not, but because they do not have the knowledge of volunteering opportunities. Most volunteering events are brought to people's attention through church and school clubs. The problem with this is that not everybody goes to church or is in clubs at school. Something that could be done to promote this change at school and in the community is to talk more about volunteer opportunities on the school announcements are make them more apparent in public settings, or even having them be brought up in city meetings. Volunteering allows a person to be more involved in their neighborhood events and it can help build and better relationships with others, it also helps build up resumes before it is too late to do
volunteering is important in the public sector because it helps the public services save money other than the military as the military reservists get paid but it is still voluntary. I got all my information from the websites which are for the organisation. the benefits of volunteering are:
Why I want to volunteer I am directionless. Lost in a sea of people; people who all seem to know what they want to do with their lives. Volunteering can help me find a direction, a path that I want to be on. Assisting patients and workers provides more information on working in a hospital than any course or the internet can provide.
Volunteering is a large part many nonprofit organizations. A volunteer is choosing to donate their personal time and resources to the cause they support. By volunteering, an individual has an outlet to express their values or embrace a particular culture within pout society.
For example, one can volunteer to clean up their community. This could mean cleaning up litter, doing yard work for someone in need, cleaning up an abandoned property, and many other things. This is important because it can not only make one's community more appealing, but it can also help to reduce potential health hazards. Another example of volunteering could be providing for the needy and homeless. People living in a community are what make the community, which means helping fellow citizens is a fantastic way to be involved. Soup kitchens and homeless shelters are great places to do
My main focus on volunteering is to help and/or improve other individuals lives. Whether it’s a small thing like shoveling elderly neighbors driveways during the winter or a bigger thing like running youth group at the local church and leading prayers. Not only do the people I help get joy from it, but helping others surely puts joy in my life too. Also, with the knowledge I have acquired through high school, tutoring others is something I enjoy doing because helping others understand something difficult is very important. During school, assisting teachers with going to grab printed papers or picking up excess garbage in the cafeteria after lunch are many of the things I do to improve the school and the people in it such as students and faculty staff. Like my dad always says, life isn’t about bettering yourself, it’s about offering your skills and traits to better the community and the people in
In order to be successful in school, there should be a minimum requirement for high school students to do four hours of community service a week. Community service not only benefits students when looking for scholarships, but also helps apply what they learn in school to the real world. Volunteering helps students expand and practice on skills they have learned in school such as leadership and teamwork. Students who do community service learn to develop leadership skills as well as teamwork skills and this allows them to succeed not only in school, but also in careers and more community involvements. Participating in community service also helps students learn how to solve problems on their own because it is a real life experience. Volunteering helps students be successful in school because it builds a sense of responsibility, confidence, and helps students with scholarships to succeed for their future. I myself, for example, am a high school student who has done volunteer work at the public library.
Specifically, volunteering brings in revenue from nonprofits and “free” work. In fact, in 2009 an estimated value of $169 billion dollars was contributed to America in volunteer participation (Corporation for National and Community Service). Volunteers bring an unexpected abundance of revenue that appears in unpaid work. In addition, it enhances communication within a society. Significantly, volunteering provides insight from first hand experiences for the community’s wants and needs and if these wants and needs are being met by volunteers communicating their volunteer experiences (Young). When there is better communication within a community it is easier to understand what the wants and needs are for a society to better function. Finally, it provides services in many different forms. For instance, in a local sense volunteers can benefit many sectors such as public works and transportation; public safety, health, and human services; parks and recreation; and support functions (Young). Like stated above, it is evident that there are many different types of volunteer jobs that can be done and anyone can help by using their personal strengths to better the community. Overall, there are many economic benefits that are brought to a community that essentially leads to a safer
Volunteering is an important contributor to our society. It is also a great opportunity to learn different skills, especially young people, and they will become a part of who you are. Your future employers will thank you for it, as will any college or university that you decide to apply too. It is also a perfect way for everyone to meet different people and experience different things. Volunteering not only actively will help people; it also helps the environment. Most of all, it allows you to become a better person for what you have
...teer experience. I highly recommend volunteering to anyone, because of all the great things it will teach and because of the positive impacts it make on one’s life. Volunteering will teach an individual many of life’s greatest lessons, and lets an individual grow into a better person. Volunteering teaches to let go of their ignorance and false notions of world problems and lets the volunteer learn about the real, and sometimes unattractive, condition of people in the world. Many people think that one person cannot make a difference in the world, but volunteering teaches a person to at least try to make a difference in one person’s life and to build on that. Additionally, volunteering teaches a person to be leader who can inspire others to volunteer. Volunteering is an incredibly didactic experience that will forever inspire the volunteer to be a better person.
The connections made can enhance one's sense of value and connectedness within the community. What do you hope to get out of volunteering? The social advantages of volunteering are numerous and can lead to substantial improvements in one's interpersonal experiences. Engaging in volunteer work connects individuals to their community and introduces them to others with shared interests, thereby fostering new friendships and strengthening community ties (Social benefits of volunteering). This involvement not only offers the chance to meet new people, but also serves as a practical setting for enhancing social skills through regular interaction.
Not only does volunteering help others in need, it also allows people to share their aptitudes and learn skills they may need in the future. Volunteering during the weekends at hospitals and elderly homes taught me important care taking skills for my future profession. Thus, volunteering extra time and donating to charities, activities that provide for people and society as a whole, can be much more successful compared to opening a door, and contributes to both ethical and moral
A prime advantage is that volunteers fill in the gaps significantly left vacant due to a lack of financial support in addition to a lack of a labor force required to achieve goals, promote missions, and accomplish everyday tasks. Moreover, these volunteers provide nonprofit organizations with services at no cost which serve, to a degree, as a measure for saving money. Another advantage of using volunteers is that you can fill in talent gaps. For example, Habitat For Humanity can seek out volunteers who are carpenters, plumbers, construction workers, and that like when they are building
while volunteering I can talk first hand to the kids and parents about my program, and assure them it's safe. I’d also be able to help kids who can't go outside. Volunteering will also give me a deeper look into how I’ve helped the kids. Helping them overcome obstacles to me is one of the most amazing feelings in the world. I find great joy in helping children especially, kids who have disabilities and ailments.
A common misconception about volunteering is that it only helps the cause. Often times that aspect is the only part that is highlighted when the topic of donating time comes up. There is a different side of volunteering though. Many volunteers donate their time to help better the community they live in and the people that live in it. When they choose to do this they not only help others but they are also helping better themselves. Volunteering benefits a person by building connections with peers, improving family life, expanding career skills, overcoming self doubt, having lasting life impressions, and creating new opportunities.
Fulfilling community service by volunteering has so many positive effects on the community. Serving in the community builds character and unity within the community.... ... middle of paper ... ... Mandating community service for high school graduation was the best idea anyone could ever invent.
