Climate change over time
By Kaden Karns
Climate is something that everywhere has. It is a big part of what makes earth livable, but it's also something that can change drastically over thousands of years. Climate is the overall temperature or conditions over a long period of time. Climate is usually confused with weather, but the are not the same thing. Weather is the state of the atmosphere at a certain place or time. Climate is the average temperature of the atmosphere over many years of time. Climate can change by greenhouse gases changing or even the shifting of tectonic plates that move the continents to different places on earth that are warmer or colder than the last spot.
We calculate climate by observing years of weather and the temperature
and line it up to see the overall temperature. Scientist find out the temperature of past years by using paleoclimate proxies. paleoclimate proxies shows what the temperatures were like in different years that it has been alive. These proxies include tree rings, sea coral, fossils, and many other things. There are multiple climates on the earth right now. Different climates include equatorial, desert, mediterranean, temperate maritime, temperate continental, and more. Iowa’s climate currently consists of an average of an average temperature in Iowa of 50.85°F, and average rainfall of 35.67 inches. Climate will not stay the same forever, and the climate in Iowa has changed many times in the past years just like everywhere else. For example approximately 11700 - 2.5 million years ago Iowa was in the pleistocene epoch; a ice age where at least part of Iowa was covered in glaciers, and all of Iowa was cold. Also about 286 million years ago a geological period called the pennsylvanian era, Iowa existed as a lush tropical swamp on the shores of a shallow sea. Hot humid tropical temperature. Meaning Iowa was once close to the equator. This shows how climate can have big changes over thousands to millions of years.ent Everywhere has a climate. Either hot or cold or rainy or dry. They are all climates and they can all change and have changed in the past years since the earth has formed. Climate and weather are different even though people may say diffr. Climate is the overall temperature or conditions over a long period of time.
Climate change describes the changes that are happening to the planet in different countries or regions (NASA, n.d.). Climate change is caused by global warming,
Climate change is the change in the “average weather” in a specific location. This can include temperature, precipitation, wind, humidity, and the different seasons. Climate change is caused by the release of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse
Climate change is a change in global temperature and regional climate patterns. At the turn of the 20th century, there has been rising issues about climate change, arguing that global warming and climate change is an issue worsened by the human race. Change in climate is a natural process in which changes from season to season and even fluxuates over thousands of years. Over the time frame of the last 650,000 years there has been seven cycles of glacial advance and retreat (Global Climate Change). It could be argued that climate change is a natural process and the Earth is suppose to change its temperature from hot to cold. Yes, that is true. However, the rate in which the temperature is changing is something this Earth has never endured. In
The textbook definition of climate is the condition of the atmosphere in a specific region over many years. It has to do with long-term averages of temperature, winds, clouds, pressure, moisture, precipitation, etc. For example, South America has a very tropical climate while Minnesota has hot summers and cold winters experiencing the widest variety of weather.
There are so many factors in today’s growing population and its action that contributes to the environment. With the rise in population there is also increase in the needs and demands resulting in more production of food and assets. Most of the actions of human lead to increased environment risks which in return will only effect the livings of this planet. Currently mostly all individuals have at least one form of vehicle for transportation. There is increased industrialization and requires a lot of energy which comes from fossil fuels as the need for oil increases to fuel large amounts of humans daily work and chores. The climate change is no mystery, it is known to be cause of various human actions trying to satisfy their needs while putting
Climate change occurs when there is a significant variance in the climate which last for several decades or longer and not for a short period of time. Climate change includes changes in elements such as temperature, precipitation and wind patterns.
Climate change is a change in the Earth’s normal temperatures. Throughout Earth’s history the climate of the planet has changed drastically.(Nasa, 2015) As an example when the dinosaurs roamed the earth is was sunny and full of plants. Then the Ice Age came around and the earth was barren and cold.(Attenbrough,20--
A change in global or regional climate patterns, a change which was noticed during the mid 20th century due to excessive use of fossil fuels.
Our world is always changing, so is our climate. Some changes are apparent, others not so much. Climate change is an important issue of concern in the twenty-first century. Environment, if it changes at all, evolves so slowly that the difference cannot be seen in a human lifetime (Wearth, 2014). Mostly all scientists predicted that it would take thousands of years for the planet to warm up due to emissions of carbon dioxide from fossil fuels called greenhouse gases. But in the past 200 years, things began to change. The rate and the amount of warming that is happening on this planet are unprecedented. Wearth says, “People did not grasp the prodigious fact that both population and industrialization were exploding in a pattern of exponential
In theory some parts of the world might benefit, from a human point of view, due to global warming. However, at current rates of warming, local ecosystems will collapse and any objective measure of global benefits versus suffering would show much more suffering than benefits gained.
Climate change is a long-term change in regional or global climate patterns. From the mid twentieth century to now, there has mostly been a significant increase in average global temperatures. Climate change is a major issue in the world today, and a lot of people feel very differently about the cause of it. The common argument is whether climate change is a natural occurrence or if the recent increase in temperatures is because of humans. Climate change is a natural cycle in the Earth’s weather.
Climate change is one of the most discussed topics of the twenty-first century. Although this subject is very often on the daily basis of lots of people, most of them do not know much about it. So let us define climate change. People think that climate change is the same thing as global warming. However, global warming only represents one aspect of climate that is temperature. Climate change is any significant change in temperature, precipitation, or a wind pattern that occur over several decades or longer.
As defined by the Oxford dictionary, climate change is, “a change in global or regional climate patterns, in particular a change apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards and attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels.” (Oxford Dictionaries) Moreover, evidence of climate change can be found all over the world, and in many different forms, but is especially prevalent in certain regions. For instance, in Southeast Asia, specifically the nation of the Philippines, signs of climate change can be observed frequently, if not regularly. One major ...
Climate change is the long-term shift in weather patterns in a specific region or globally. Climate change refers to changes in a regions overall weather patterns. These include temperature changes, precipitation and cloud cover (www.ecolife.com).
Climate change is caused due to the release of few carbon compounds into the atmosphere, which drastically brought the weather changes all over the world. Climate change is not confined to a single region. It has become an important issue all over the world for the past few years.
