Through all out the generation of Xbox’s, Microsoft has been developing gaming over the years. The consoles are being remodeled each year that they release every November of the year. The founder of Microsoft was Bill Gates a smart business magnate and an investor. He launched Microsoft in 1975 and became the world’s largest PC software company. In 1998, a group of engineers that worked within the company had come up with brilliant ideas that the company should have their own video game consoles. They pitched out the ideas to the founder of Microsoft and later on they launched their first video game console in 2001. Microsoft sold 123,000 consoles the first week it was released. The Xbox was the most powerful console on the market. The Xbox name came to be when Microsoft's first foray into the gaming console market. It represents a series of video game consoles developed by Microsoft, with three consoles released in the sixth, seventh, and eighth generations. Chris William is a worker at a call center office for Microsoft. He helps troubleshoot problems for Xbox and computer system for Microsoft. As we were having a discussion, he states that when the original Xbox first came out “He never had an Xbox. He would go his friend house to playing video games, He said that’s it’s a good console. Microsoft made a lot of money selling the consoles”( Chris William). The console is still efficient as in today, its graphics and games still hold up today. The most popular game on the original Xbox was Halo: Combat Evolved. When I was a kid, I played that game 24/7. It’s really incredible how it can do a lot of things just to the first console. Microsoft even thought to put Ethernet so people can play with each other online or local. Back in 2000 people didn’t have a wireless network, They made it easier for people to enjoy the
Microsoft has been only been in this industry for fourteen years. They’ve only created three consoles so far, Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Their huge success with the Xbox 360 put them at the forefront of the battle. Their newest console, the Xbox One, was announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 in March of 2013 and released later that year in November. They told the world how revolutionary their console was with all of its innovate features. The console, weighing in at 6.3 pounds, is a monster of a device with 5 vents on each side of the console, it runs almost silent and experiences almost no overheating problems. Looking like a retro, 1960’s VCR, many people believe it is an ugly piece of hardware. Personally, I like the design of the console. It is big and heavy which makes it feel like a sturdy piece of technology. Inside the beast is an 8 core 64x AMD processor which runs at1.75GHz and features a Direct X 11.1 graphics card running at 1.2 Teraflops. It also comes with 8 GBs of GDDR3 RAM and a 500 GB H...

The Xbox One’s features trump those of the Playstation 4. Although many of their features are very similar, Microsoft has taken their gaming system to an entire different league. It not only serves as a gaming device, but also doubles as an entertainment hub for your home. The technological upgrades and new features put the Xbox One ahead of its rival PlayStation 4 in almost every category.
The Microsoft Xbox has powerful components within that overpower any other console, including its CPU or it’s Central Processing Unit. The Xbox runs an Intel Pentium III 733-megahertz (MHz) processor. This is a lot more powerful than Nintendo Gamecube’s IBM Power PC 485-megahertz Gekko chip processor and even lower the Sony Playstation 2’s 128 bit “Emotion Engine” which is clocked around 294-megahertz. A few more components that make this console far superior to any other is its graphics processor, or GPU, which stands for Graphic Processing Unit. Microsoft had teamed up with Nvidia to create a chip that was made especially for the Xbox. The computer-based company ‘s 250-megahertz chip gives the console an amazing resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and 125 Million Polygons per Second. Sixty four- (64) megabytes (Mb) of DDRam back all this up, for great non-glitch games and smooth running. Nintendo also has a computer-based company teaming up with them to create the 162-megahertz ATI Flipper GPU Chip. This chip can only handle around 6-12 Million polygons a second and is only backed up by 43-megabytes of DDRam.
The Magnavox Odyssey (created by Ralph Baer) has been debated to be the first video game and console. Atari, which came out 2 years after the Odyssey, Senger Emily states “ In the 1977 with the launch of Atari 2600 video game console. Atari dominated the home-market through the 70’s and 80’s.” Atari is the first big game company to emerge in U.S soil and dominated the game market. The Magnavox Odyssey sold with Magnavox tv’s and brought forth the idea that the game system only worked on their tv’s. With the arrival of Atari’s 2600 video game console they released Pong ,similar to Odyssey’s paddle and ball game, a new game that sold better than their rival, Odyssey. “Atari's position as the top video-game console brand dipped in the early '80s, when competitors flooded the market and quality across the industry waned leading to the video game crash of 1983”which Senger Emily claim to be Atari’s downfall. Due to their problems after the video game crash, “1992, Atari's share of the North American video-game market had shrunk to just 12%.”(Senger) Atari switched CEO to tramiel in 1989 , which never kept the company afloat. At just twenty years old, Bill Gates cofounded Microsoft with his childhood friend Paul Allen. He is now the richest man in the world with over $85.2 billion to his name. So why did Microsoft end up being way more successful than any computer program like it? The answer is because of the free enterprise system, and competition. Gate's product was considered new and innovative at the time, which made customers want to try it out.
This was the same year when Bill Gates and Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft. In 1981, Bill Gates’ company was hired to develop an operating system but rather than creating a new operating system they decided to buy a preexisting operation system called QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System) for the amount of 50,000 dollars. After modifying the operating system they bought, they renamed the operating system to MS-DOS. After MS-DOS began selling it brought in a steady income for Gates due to the fact that the PC market was growing and there weren’t many competitors in the market for them to compete with. In 1986, when Microsoft Corporation went public, it made Gates into a millionaire overnight. The following year, Microsoft released their first ever version of

Microsoft made a wise decision by choosing to outsource the manufacturing of Xbox to Flextronics. They are not as competent in making the components for Xbox as they are in constructing software. Flextronics, on the other hand, is a large enough company with ample funds and experience in the manufacturing of hardware, like Xbox. They have the expertise and logistics to produce efficiently and cost effectively, while maintaining the level of quality that Microsoft demands as a well-known brand.

Microsoft’s mission of placing a “PC running Microsoft software on every desk and in every home” drove their overall strategy early on. They first introduced their software package, Window 1.0 in 1983, the first package to consist of a mouse which helps navigate a PC.
