school with white children someday. The declaration of right to education to African Americans has fulfilled his dream. African-Americans can seek education in the same school as white children nowadays. Martin Luther King mentioned that he wanted everyone to work together and stand up for freedom together. He believed that all the people should be able to feel the freedom in the sense of actual practice and experience. A large part of his speech has been fulfilled as the African Americans can work everywhere and in every field. A large population of African-Americans run major businesses and can hold political offices and take part in political activities. The economic status of African American has peaked up in comparison of their status in 1964. Now, people of any race can be friends, classmates, co-workers with each other. This gives us a hope that our generation will be a living proof of King’s dream in full basis one day. To have equality was another integral part of King’s dream.
He referred equality to the establishment of co-operation among all the people and a feeling of togetherness in them. Dr. King’s dream that all men are created equal by god has come true as people are treated equally today and are considered as a single unit. The civil rights movement led by King, therefore, succeeded in establishing equality in the society by getting rid of the racial barriers that existed in 1900’s. In addition to that, the election of Barack Obama as the President of United States is another way of fulfillment of King’s hope. King’s dream of achieving peace and unity is becoming more real as time goes on. Today, people have the freedom to choose and freedom to do whatever they want. The United States is known as the land of opportunity and freedom and the Americans are living the dream of Martin Luther King. Nevertheless, there is still a large population of black people who don’t see much progress. Martin Luther King’s dream has come true to large extent but there are still places which need to be progressed for the establishment of discrimination free society. There still exists a gap between the racial wealth status between the black and whites. The percentage of black poverty has also increased in comparison to the whites. The civil rights provided to the African Americans is seen to be violated on daily basis. Racial discrimination exists in the job application forms as they have race categorized into African Americans, Hispanic and other races. Similarly, college and school application form ask for the racial background which is strictly against King’ dream of achieving equality. This diminishes full respect and equality that African American deserve to get and shows that we are still not able to achieve the dream seen by King.
